As the old saying goes, using a baseball metaphor Rondo was born on 3rd base... and thinks that he hit a triple. Every thing has been dropped in his lap. He's had it extraordinarily easy to date. Has dallied a great deal... and has never closed the deal by making it to home plate, rounding out his game.
With the injury.... he just got picked off 3rd. Now he has to start from scratch, rehab himself, remaking his game and then try to work his way around the bases the old fashioned way, earning every step of the way, scratching/clawing it out, dedicating himself to fundamentals. Getting serious about shoring up his game. Confronting his old demons.
This adversity will finally make or break him. He is the Teflon kid no more.
He's stuck to grim reality or soon will be. Nothing comes easy from here on out.

ALL players with ACL tears go down a knotch or two after they return. And a great deal of them suffer more injuries afterward, injuries that are seemingly unrelated to the ACL tear but arguably are related.
