In Response to Re: We're Lottery Bound : If the Celts end up the 7th or 8th seed then they will exit in the 1st round as that will mean facing Chicago or Miami in the 1st round.

Doesn't make any difference if they play them the first round or the second round. The results will be the same.
In Response to Re: We're Lottery Bound : True. But if both are paid the max and one will just play the role of a backup then that's a waste of money. If you're thinking Bynum and Gasol, it's not the same as Hibbert and Kaman/McGee.
    Posted by Fiercest34
No i am thinking a big man is a big man.  You never can have too many good big men.  Remember big men = rebounds=demand=trade bait=difference maker. All you have talked about for a month is we are 1 man from being "elite"  and we get a chance to get two and you say its a waste of money?

I wasn't suggesting giving either Kamen or Mcgee a max deal.....neither are worth it., but both would be exceptional back up bigs and if we have room..why not.

The Celtics have too much pride to go lottery, just not happening if we are anywhere near healthy.  Rondo who is not my favorite player, and the big three with Brandon bass have too much pride to go lottery. Rondo is capable of turning in some very good games and KG is a long way from being finished. Doc also will step up and coach.

    Re: We're Lottery Bound

The idea and realization that we are possibly lottery bound is hard when you think of what it appeared was on Danny's mind at the trade deadline.   We had won a couple of games on the road, could he have been possibly influenced to think we had a chance to win and go on in the playoffs.  We had lost Wilcox and JON and already suffered the loss of Green for the season. I bought it but look at the thin roster right now and know we can't make it at all this year.

What was Ainge thinking then and what is he  thinking now?  The Kaman idea was floated after the deadline as likely, now we know there is no chance.  I wonder what is really in DA or Doc's head they know better than we do.  So why are they so opaque about what they are doing.  They kept Ray and with the direction they are going in what could they possibly have been thinking. Ray would have gone to a contender.  What is so bad about that?

We will have to see if they sell tickets.  They have managed to win games after consecutive losses and maybe they can keep interest going to fight for a playoff spot.  It will be hard though. The lack of rebounding has them almost not competitive in games.  It is hard to watch this team unable to play against younger competition. It may make people mad.

From hoopshype - Doc says we are close to adding another player - probably a big man.................................that trumps Ellis to the Bucks!!
In Response to Re: We're Lottery Bound : Next month we will play the Heat 3 times. Also, we play the Spurs, Magic, Pacers, and Bulls next month. That's 7 potential losses. Besides those 7 games against tough playoff teams, the Celts will have to face the Hawks, Knicks, Sixers, and Bucks again next month. And our back to back to back is next month. Not looking good for us.

You nailed it, we are going to struggle mightily.   If we are going to lose I hope DA and Doc have a plan.  The way this season has gone we will probably put together another little winning streak and get slammed in April.
