    Re: Where's Melo?

I think we won;t know for sure on Melo until next season.

Bradly couldn;t get off the bench as  rookie and many of us felt like he was a wasted pick.

Johnson got some playing time as a rookie and now can't find a job in the NBA.

One thing for sure, IF melo is a washout like Johnson...........the debate about who good a GM Ainge is needs to be re thunk!

Why? Which player in this draft has Ainge missed on? If you draft out of the top ten, most players are misses anyway. If Sully works out, Danny has done a good job already in this year.

too early to know this year, Like I said. But we can see Ainge hasn;t exactly been great come draft day in the past.

    2011:

    25. M. Brooks was the pick , then AInge traded him for J. Johnson who is now looking for  ajob somewhere besides the NBA.

    other better picks :

    28. N. Cole

    30 J. Buler

    33. K. Singler

    38. C. Parsons

    2010:

    19. A. Bradley

    good pick by Ainge

    2009:

    pick traded

    2008:

    30. JR Giddens

    better picks

    21. N. Pekovic

    34. M. Chalmers

    35. D. Jordan

    2007:

    Pick Traded for R. Allen

    pick traded for R. Rondo

    2006:

    7. R. Foye

Foye was then traded with Lafrentz and Dickau (a couple of great Ainge pickups there also) for S. Telfair and T. Ratliff...all you can say about that is WOW!!

other possible picks besides Foye (if AINGE would have kept the pick)

    8. R. Gay

    11. JJ Redick

    13. T. Sefolosha

    2005:

    18. G. Green

    other better picks

almost anyone picked in the first round AFTER Green

    2004:

    15. Al Jefferson

    24. D. West

    25. T. .Allen

All solid picks by Ainge, though he did Miss onK. Martin one pick later at #26.

with 8 first round picks between 2004-2011...ainge was solid on 4 at best and three of those were his first draft in 2004.

While Ainge has made some good trades as GM, his drafting ability has proven to be mediocre, IMO.

and lets not talk about his free agent moves.....oy!!!

    Re: Where's Melo?

You made a lot of effort, thank you.

Though, the most important sentence is the first. The jury on Melo and the entire draft year is still ongoing. That is exactly what I meant.

But ok, lets look at the rest: Overall he had 5-6 hits, T.Allen, A. Jefferson, (D. West), Rondo, AB. And at least Sully shows the talent to be a keeper as well. Of course he had misses, but just look at DeAndre Jordan. ALL teams passed on him at least once, not only Ainge! So, actually your list is interesting but worthless, cause you would have to compare to all other GMs. How many hits did the rest had with similiar draft picks? If you compare that to Ainge, then you would have a case! So how did Lakers, OKC, the Mavs over the last years in the draft?

To sum it up: I'm not saying you are wrong but your facts are no proof.

"So it appears we have a full roster BUT can anyone tell me with a straight face that Melo couldn't help this team in regards to size, rebounding and defense right now?"

Yup. You don't know anything about player development, sorry. He's not ready to help yet. He was drafted as a 2-3 year project and that's how long it's going to take. He didn't even start playing basketball at all until recently.

If he was ready to make a good contribution right away, he never would have fallen to where he was in the draft. That's how it works. You want to draft a promising 7 footer at our place in the draft, you have to take either a project or a guy with really bad character issues or bad injury history. We took a project.

Also - we don't need or want any better than the 7 seed. So we don't need anything from Melo.

Tonight, against the Hawks, Randolph showed us all that he's better than Wilcox, Bass, and Melo.

Agreed.  Also agree with all that Melo isn't ready to contribute this year.  Not sure if he will even be ready next season.  We can hope that with more time he will help the Celtics next season.

    Re: Where's Melo?

How in the heck does a guy forget how to block shiots in the middle of the season?  Melo was getting averaging 5 blocks plus over several games in December/January.  Now he is an ordinary D-leaguer.  What happened?  When he played a couple minute for the C's against the Lakers a few weeks back, he made a powerful block at the baseline after coming from the top of the key and timing his leap easily.  Did that door frame smack in the head so hard that he his losing control of his limbs?

Melo is a bust.  Nothing is going to make him a productive NBA player unless he has some drive and the athletic ability.  People say he has the athletic ability but I could not see it.  Very bad draft pick.  Considering we needed help upfront this year.

As mediocre as Randolph is, he is better than Melo.

i think the real question is- can melo do more things out there than wilcox?  seems like every time wilcox is given extended minutes his box score makes your eyes bleed from the nothingness he gets done
