Who is the next Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, + Kevin Garnett?

The next Ray Allen might be Anthony Morrow.
The next Kevin Garnett might be Lamarcus Aldridge.
The next Paul Pierce might be Nick Young.

The first guy we have a chance to acquire is Nick Young this summer.

I would part with Avery Bradley and Glen Davis for this guy.

    Is that enough?

Kristic can be resigned to play the Glen Davis role.

Very interesting scenarios... lots for us to think over!  I think the Celtics are planning on making Jeff Green the next Paul Pierce, and I'd expect him to improve greatly once he actually has a Celtics training camp under his belt.  What do you think of that possible lineage?

Jeff Green is nothing like Pierce. He has the shooting touch but not the temperament/aggressiveness.

Pierce's legacy is his competitiveness and heart. His is one of the grittiest Celtics ever.

I don't see a lot of grit(anger, competitiveness) in Jeff Green.

I could say the same for Nick Young, but his saving grace is his explosive offense and ball-handling ( which he has over Jeff ) as well as never afraid to keep shooting.

The heart and ability to lead and put a team on your back offensively in the clutch is not one of Jeff's strengths, but is Pierce's greatest strength.

So in short, he does'nt qualify as well as Nick Young does.

OK... that makes sense, and I agree with your assessments of Green though I need to do a little more research on Young.  I still think Jeff Green could develop most of those Pierce qualities as he's still very young.  That said, if we have the chance to get Young I'd hope we pursue it.

Well I believe we had a chance to get Morrow last summer and nothing was mentioned that Ainge even tried!

I mean really, to pay Marquis almost as much as Morrow? Bad choice!!!

I think Marquis signed for 3 mil and Morrow signed for 4 mil.

Hmmmm... not to mention Quis had a KNOWN history of these spinal injuries.  I've got nothing against Quis but without knowing more facts, that one makes my head spin.

I don't like wing players that - A) Look like they can barely dunk
                                             B) Have no consistent range out to 17 feet

That is the major reason I did'nt like Daniels or Giddens or Tony Allen(he has ups, though).

In Tony's case, he excelled on defense to the point where he could get more points than he gave up. (usually)

I hope that Ainge sees this post because I have been concerned about this since they Allen and KG joined the team! That has been my biggest complaint about Ainge in that his draft picks have been so bad since they came onboard. I felt that he should have started building for the future immediately. I have no idea who their replacements will be I just hope that Ainge wakes up and realizes that he needs to start planning for the future.

As an aside: I know that some of y'all get annoyed by Laker-Nation32. As for me I see him like those special-ed kids back in school. Don't make fun of them or feel bad for them just expect for them to say some "interesting" things from time to time.

Agree that Jeff Green is not a Pierce type player. I said he was like Cliff robinson a month ago. The Derrick McKey comparison has been made of late. I agree with both of those. A 17-19ppg starter in his prime who will get a useful but not spectacular 5-7 boards and 1 block/steal sweet dunk a game. Bothers SF's w/ his length, too skinny to be a great PF. But overall a guy who should be your 4th best player if you are a contender, too passive and easy-going to be a superstar. He reminds me a bit of a taller Reggie Lewis

Nick Young the next Paul Pierce!?!?! He is scrawny and a black hole. Pierce had 20lbs on him even at the same age. One of the most selfish players I have seen in a good while. He is more like Morrow than either Allen and Pierce. Young has SIX... SIX games all year with 2+ assists. He has FIVE games with 5+ rebounds. At age 25 Pierce had 47.... FORTY SEVEN 2+ assist games. He had 57.... FIFTY SEVEN games with 5+ rebounds. WOW. Oh and he was an all-star who averaged 9 more points.

No two players are exactly alike. I think his offensive game is similar to Pierce, but he definitely has room for growth.

I remember Pierce being called a black hole and getting the lion's share of the blame for his Olympic team's failure's.

Young has the most important criteria, aggressive, gutsy, crafty wing player with great shooting percentages from the perimeter.

The stuff you can't teach. You can teach rebounding, ball movement and defense.

Anthony 'one trick pony' morrow is already 25 and has had his PER drop 3 straight years while being allowed to jack shots for terrible teams. He is a nice 5th best player shooting specialist to have. He would have been a dime a dozen type 20 years ago but now, with no great 40%+ shooters anymore, he can start and dump in 14-17 a game for another 6-7 years. Hardly Ray Allen though.

One trick Pony? Pretty damn good trick!

Hey, what does Ray Allen do extremely well besides stroke it?

    Uuuuuh, nothing!

I take that back. He plays damn good "D" on D Wade and Kobe come playoffs.

Big Al is an offensive player, Defense requires a definition for Jefferson, he does not understand the meaning of the word.

Enjoy the ride, there will neve be a KG, Pierce and Allen.
