Have to bring him back some time?  What will be the rationale to hold him back?  Danny has been able to showcase what he wanted to showcase.

I doubt Rondo will be 100% and have any affect on wins & losses for weeks. But, there is also the possibility that after those weeks which will bring us close to the trade deadline that the coach and GM will have a much better idea whether Rondo is 100% and will fit within Steven's system.

Then there will be one of two courses of action ...

    A) Trade Rondo

    B) Build around Rondo and make trades to upgrade players and assets when some teams will be looking to dump players if they are not true contenders .... The deadline provides and opportunity to be a seller as well as a buyer.
But option B hurts the team's chances in the upcoming draft. It simply makes no sense to bring RR back now unless the Cs are in the process of attempting to trade him!
C's going on playoff run.  New coach, star player on board and an excellent way to get the young guys on board.  Enjoy!

The rationale to hold him back is simple, win less games in an effort to increase the team's chances of getting a top 5 lotto pick.

The Cs certainly are not bringing him back in an attempt to win more games! So why bring him back now?

    Possible trade?

If Rondo is the Cs franchise player, why bring him back now when the the team is obviously headed toward the draft lotto?

Why not keep him out the entire season, much like D. Rose a year ago, and bring him back fresh next season? He would have the entire pre-season to get in shape and find his rhythm.

There is only one logical reason to bring RR back now! Show interested teams he is healthy in an effort to facilitate a trade!

    What say you?
Its Rondo's call... and he wants to make the AS team.

    Its always Rondo's call.

    And why contest it.

It works for DA because he gets to showcase Rondo for a possible trade.

that and the fact they will probably win some game that would have been lost. the lakers are doing it right. they are sitting back and letting their awful team lose every game. they are going to end up with the best or close to the best player in the draft. the east is so weak that a few wins will put the celtics in the playoffs. they wont get a lottery pick with atlantas pick. personally id rather they stink it up this year and get a great player in the draft. mid first round picks will get them average players and the rebuild could go on forever.

that said i think danny has done an excellent job in amassing draft picks and with a couple of breaks they could have a young team thats loaded in talent in afew years. the future looks bright.

You get a high draft pick that if you are luck will be ready in 3-4 years. The draft is a gamble folks.Go celtics

95 + % of all NBA players are acquired through the draft process! Its more of a gamble to draft each year in the 15-18 range, than the lotto!

I agree - the fact RR is coming back now makes me think that a possible trade partner is waiting in the wings.

Why bring RR back to win meaningless games and hurt the teams chances in the upcoming lotto?

There is only one logical reason - Pending TRADE!!
I also agree that the main reason for Rondo to play is the possibility of trading him.  Someone who has interest in him wouldn't trade for him until he can prove that he is healthy and able to contribute.

I understand that but how can you hold him back?  It has been a year since he got injured and the Celts have used up every minute of the required recovery time.  Plus, he has to get on the court and start coming up to speed some time.  And he will need time to come up to speed.

As for trade bait, I am pretty sure that Danny will trade Rondo the moment he gets an offer that brings more in return.  But I don't see Danny in an urgency to trade Rondo.

I blue print for tanking will be simple, keep making periodic changes to the roster until the trade deadline.  That will keep things unsettled long enough.

NOBODY has any doubts about Rondo.  The idea he is being "showcased" is stupid.  Knee surgeries are a brutal rehab but then again we are talking about poeple who discipline their bodies at an elite level in order to make their livings.  We lived in an era where the repaired knees are more stable than the original equipment.

I have grown WEARY of INCESSANT Rondo trade talk.

Get a life and stop imagining Rondo trade scenarios.

for a quick showcase and salary dump!!!  rajjie is NOT worth 13 million next year and then the deafening conundrum of him wanting a max contract while missing multiple basic skills essential to being an elite point guard-------------------

just let someone else deal with that whole mess.  take a couple draft picks and if AT ALL possible, package up the dead body of gerry wallace to go with him, so long as we aren't taking back cadavers in the trade
