Add Young to the mix, so there are 96 minutes a game for 5 guys?  You do the math.

At 1-4 we have a lot of options. At 5 we are SORELY lacking.

Young has SF athleticism. He is too slow for SG. Can you see him trying to contain Stephenson and Oladipo?

One thing about them, other than Bradley on some nights, they could take as many shots as they wanted, because the other team would love to see them taking jump shots all night.  I'm not talking about Young, i think he will be a very good shooter in this league for a long time.  Rondo, Smart and Pressey if he is even on the team, will have all the wide open looks they want.

I think that Boston made a mistake by not drafting Vonleh. Smart is a heckuva player but Vonleh, imo would have been a better pick.  I wonder if Ainge selected Smart to keep the lakers from getting him. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what Ainge is able to get for Rondo.

Yes, I can. He has the length. You can be a solid defender even if u aren't athletically gifted. If Young can learn to position his feet correctly and use his length to adv. then he can cover 2's

Gotta love the optimism DaCeltics.  but if anyone tried to make a non-subjective and realistic comparison of our guards it would not look good, especially if using PER as a quantitative measurement.

Rondo - 29th ranked PG in the NBA  at 15.34 (30 games in 2013-2014)

    Bradley - 47th ranked G with 12.80 PER

Pressey - 67th rated G and fourth worst in the entire NBA. with 8.78 PER

The AVERAGE NBA PER is 15.00.  So we hardly have the "best cadre".  In fact, maybe the worst.  Its way too early to evaluate Smart and Young but their college PER was not outstanding (Young had a comparatively poor rating for those drafted in the first round).

If you think Rondo's PER was low because of injury and too few games last year... he was ranked 11th in 2012-2013; 18th in 2011-2012 and 13th in 2010-2011.

Its highly likely that 1). Rondo will be traded.  2). Pressey will not be on the team beyond March.  and 3). Celts will not match Bradley's offer and will let him walk via FA.

Given the above highlighted quote, by a process of simple deduction one can authoritatively state that EVERY NBA team has a better backcourt corps than the Celtics.

    EXCELLENT POINTS !

Rondo and James Young start, Marcus Smart and Avery Bradley come off the bench......what a MONSTER of a defensive backcourt !

Can you imagine Smart and Bradley terrorizing some of these mentally soft pretty boy guards the league is now full of ?

Don't worry about minutes - rookies are like aging vets, they hit the wall early and need to be handled gently on back to back games, they also need a day off every now and again to get their focus back and to shake off the aches and pains of the pro game , the days of playing a starter close to 40 minutes every night for 82 games are long gone.

The starters will play 30-32 minutes max , the rookies will play about 25 minutes each , many of the lineups will have 3 guards on the floor at the same time with James Young getting minutes as a small forward........none of these guys will play 82 games , even if none of them miss a single game to injury , none of them will play more than 75 games.......this is the new NBA , there shouldn't even be ANY back to back games ever !

    CELTICS RISING !

Pressey is the best a having the worst eFG% with a minimum of 250 shots (.364).

Next to last is Ricky Rubio and Ray McCallum (.413).

I guess being the absolute worst shooter in the NBA is a type of "best".

Golden State for starters...the Spurs definitely.

Like your team spirit Da Celts but it's highly unlikely all four of those guards stay with the team, so we won't win many depth contests even on paper.

Smart needs the ball in his hands and most likely this means Rondo is gone.

Don't be surprised if Bradley walks too....

Young wouldn't play against them every night, ergo, SG/SF.  Except for Bradley and Smart, defense is suspect. Rondo can play the passing lanes and can be a pest (esp. to LeQueen), but Pressey can't defend anyone.  Bye-bye, Pressey.

Or, it might mean that Pressey and Chris Johnson are gone.    One = good riddance, and the other = it was fun while it lasted (like his shot).  If Bradley walks they have Johnson but can add Bertans from the summer roster.  Right now, Smart is turnover prone and won't just be handed the ball to run the team to start his career.

Are you serious? From the guard position or are you saying that we needed to focus on interior players.  Sully rebounds.

I know you're smart enough not to think that rondo and smart cant rebound, as guards go.
