With Smart and Young drafted, Rondo AND AB on the way out?

I could easily see a scenario where James Young is moved to the 2-guard spot. Smart obviously at the PG

If the Celtics are going for a longer rebuild, this is the best route to go imo.

Throw these guys in the fire and lose games next season looking for more youth. Get them game experience and we lose, perfect.

Hate to be such a homer,,,,, but 3 years from now, a team of Smart-Young-#3 (FA or pick)- Sully- C (FA or pick) -Oly 6th man, can be VERY good.

Let AB walk and rotate Smart and Young at the 2 until you trade Do then Smart at the one and Young at the 2...

    AB will not be traded.

    Only Rondo gets traded.

Guess you're finally on board the tankapalooza 2 bandwagon, huh?
Well, I'm a Celtics fan first, and at this point, if they cant get the services of Kevin Love, then tanking for more season in the way to go. I really like the 2 picks we've made as well.

I know AB wont be traded, I say just let him walk

Bradley just has something missing.  If Rondo stays Pressey must be the odd man out.   Just depressing that we are headed to the lottery again, unless trades get us at least two real players.  I would rather have Hump back than Bradley.  Just no fireworks yet.

    Rondo/smart

    bradley/smart/young

    green/young

    sully/olynyk

    ???/olynyk

It's a young team and one not likely to win a lot of games. And we still have no center. But we have a lot of flexibility as far as lineups. I do not see a place for bass on this team. And what do we do w/ hump and bayless? A lot of work left to be done at this point.

Rondo is my favorite player to watch in the nba

but if Danny sees his way to trade him, I won't be upset

i am beginning to believe that having to have so many superstars to win is not true

    with the salary cap

name all of the top stars in the league, there Ring record is not too hot

Look how Dallas and San Antonio did. They won with great team b ball

maybe being better 3to 9 is more important?

What value does he bring a team trying to tank? He is a third guard on a really good team and a starting 2 guard on a playoff team. No way he comes back is they tank.

I disagree on this one.  It is not about age, it is about the cost of a very replaceable player.  AB is not worth 6+M per year.  He is gone if someone else is willing to pay him that much.

I don't believe Ainge is going to let AB go and the Celts end up getting nothing in return.

Re: With Smart and Young drafted, Rondo AND AB on the way out?

Rondo was on the way out when KG and PP got dealt.

The only reason he remained was because his knee injury ruined his trade value.

If the Cs can't trade him without picking up more bad contracts, then they really should consider using their amnesty. Nothing good can come with Rondo in entering his contract season. Rondo's presence doesn't bode well for Stevens and the youngsters.
You do realize after GW's contract is gone in 2016, AB will be the highest paid Celtic at 6m per year.

Salary cap flexibility will not become an issue once the Celts trade Rondo and Green.

Only reason to be worried about the salary cap is if Ainge gives Rondo a max contract next year.
Salary cap is not an issue until it is. You just don't know 2, 3, or 4 years down the road, thus the term flexibility. Especially when there seems to be a lot of max players looking around for a new home these days.

If AB and Rondo are not traded then I would have to say that this draft was a waste. It just doesn't make sense to draft a franchise PG when you already have one. There has to be a trade.

So Rondo will be traded by the end of the draft tonight? Haven't heard anything yet ... just CRICKETS
It's already very obvious.

I mean the drafting of Smart should have made you realize Rondo's not part of the future plans.

If Rondo doesn't get traded tonight then he'll get traded soon.

So if I'm wrong about the time Rondo gets traded, I won't be wrong about Rondo being traded because he will.

It just don't make sense to keep Rondo when the Celts are clearly building through the draft.
Well I predicted Rondo would not be traded at the draft, but if an all-star veteran was not added by deadline he would be traded by the deadline.

You mocked that rational statement as 'not picking a side', predicted he would be traded on draft night, refused to bet and stand by your prediction like a coward, later flip-flopped to making identical statements to ones I made weeks and months ago, and now have the nerve to lecture posters here like you have a clue about the state of the organization?

    Hahahahaha
