APR--Does Anyone Know What That Is?

It is, of course, the Performance measurement for college athletes that takes into account their academic progress AS athletes and STUDENTS (Isn't that what colleges and universities are all about). So, where are the LP's and others today when BC's APR was indicated as 989 and, I believe UConn's was 930, which resulted in Calhoun giving up mucho dollars since his team couldn't "cut the mustard, where it really matters.

Sad case here from a backwoods idiot from DORCHESTER!

What Mr. Morrissey Blvd. fails to address is BC has never gone beyond an elite eight for some years and find themselves depressed on UNC & Duke's profound success in the ACC while he comes to grisp with fact and plays on his keyboard.

Do you have any comments on the APR?  Why are you trying to change the subject? What don't you want the world to know?

Re: APR--Does Anyone Know What That Is?

APR is one of the most critical measures for schools that work to support their academic mission.  BC is in good company on this measure across all of their sports programs.

As pointed out to LP many times, BC focuses on this as much as a national ranking in a particular sport.  Only 2 schools had a better APR than BC, Duke and Notre Dame.  It is this type of peering that BC would like to see, not just some national championship in some semi-professional sport.

Cheeroh, you can try to change the subject if you like but you should note that the scores of the schools are across all of their athletic teams across a number of years.  Further, why don't you actually respond on topic instead of running out some tired old statement that you put into every thread.  Apparently you have no real thoughts on the subject.

Who would have guessed it would received a troll response from a UConn fan.

As Screen Name says, all threads are troll threads.

Just a reminder, the topics is "APR--Does Anyone KNow What That Is?"  WHR, on cue, jumps in with comments that are off topic.

Whenever possible he/she will jump in and throw rocks at anything about BC.  I strongly whr is LP in sheeps clothing.  The good thing is whr does not have the long repeatative signature that on its own is off topic.

This post by Cheeroh is typical from him and also reflects, I dare say, the view of a lot more Uconn fans.  They are so focused on winning they don't care that the Men's BB program did so while committing "major" recruiting violations as termed by the NCAA as well putting academics at the very bottom of their priorities - so much so that they will be losing 2 more scholarships in addition to the one they are losing for the recruiting violations. Their Men's BB APR and graduation rates are a disgrace, no matter how you spin it - all the more so when you consider that players who leave early for the NBA do not count against the APR as long as they leave in GOOD ACADEMIC STANDING.

Much easier to win when you don't play by the rules...ditto for Ohio State and others.  Bash BC all you want...but they have not forgotten that the #1 mission of a university is to educate and graduate its students - including its student athletes.  But then again, education doesn't seem to be a priority to Cheeroh, does it?  This is all too evident in his rambling, semi-coherent posts.

Actually Casey on that day had a chance to win the game so I don't think anyone would argue that Mudville was not talented

Re: APR--Does Anyone Know What That Is?

We've been to Omaha Before and the 1940 BC Football Team has as legitimate a claim to a football National Title as any. 1984 BC was one bad call in Morgantown away from playing for a National title. 1993 a missed extra point and a fumble while trying to kill the clock left them from being undefeated.....

give BC credit - it's a PHENOMINAL Academic School with THE TOP Graduation Rate and the 2nd most wins in the ACC since they joined the ACC Football Conference. BC probably would have been undefeated at least once if they had stayed in the current Big Least.

Relax whr BC is YOUR local school, embrace these wonderful student athletes and all they do for the community and its greater good. This jealous or negative energy is not doing you, or anyone else any good....Go Eagles!

Re: APR--Does Anyone Know What That Is?

    Top graduation rate?

BC is a Duke, Notre Dame, Stanford want-a-bee! Please check clue in the Northwestern Wildcats while one boasts of BC academic prowlessness?  Clue in Vanderbilt, Rice whose intitutions by far exceed lowly BC's in endowment.

As for BC there other programs are dogs: Golf, Swimming, Track & Field, Wrestling, Baseball, Softball, Lacrosse, Tennis, Rowing, Volleyball, etc.. After basketball, there's no life at BC but Theology 101.

Stanford has the best NCAA collegiate sports program in the Nation, and whose admission is by far more selective than all MBTA U on the Green line.  BC  will never reach Stanford's plateau or for that matter Northwestern. Ever to excel  BC is all hype inside the WEEI's broadcast zone.

Stanford continuously wins the ESPY awards for the best NCAA Collegiate Athletic program in Men's and Women's isports. Your cut and paste talents dim wit does not disclose much about Jerk Water University in Chestnut Hill? As for Football, add another Heisman trophy to it's steller football program in 2011 with QB Andrew Luck an NFL #1 selection in the 2012 draft with a 3.8 in nano-physics! Please get out of Cumberland RI before you post ....

Re: APR--Does Anyone Know What That Is?

    1.  Oh wow!!  The ESPYs, the most definitive authority on college sports.  I can't believe that fact and source escaped me.  The fact is from a standpoint of combining academics and sports the two schools have both done an outstanding job.
    2.  Both schools have one Heisman winner; Plunkett in 1970, Flutie in 1984.  So the "another Heisman" is actually their second compared to the "jerkwater school".

    3.  Luck's major is Architectural Design, Engineering not nano-physics, which more accurately describes your knowledge of any topic discussed here.

You are certainly familiar with the conceprt of jerk but not in education

and here is your new sig; no need to thank me

    UCONN NCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!
