it's truly laughable how much time you UConn people are wasting on shitting on BC in all of these posts. Tell me this: what are you trying to accomplish? Really, all I'm seeing is pure ignorance. As already established, BC is gonna suck this year in basketball. No surprise to anyone. Historically, BC hasn't had a good basketball program. But, with the young talent Donohue has brought to BC this year, theres a lot to look forward to in the future. I won't be surprised if he builds up a program that can consistently contend in the ACC, as well as in March Madness. Every program needs to start from somewhere, and this could potentially be the beginning of a great basketball dynasty. The post is called "BC Basketball" and not "UConn Basketball" for a reason. Go  insult BC with outrageous statements and elevate UConn somewhere else.
Posted by chitown chicity
They come here because they realize that nobody cares about UConn so they invite themselves where they are not wanted (which is par for the course for their mediocre school and their low class fan base).  They would not dare embarrass themselves by starting a thread called "UConn Basketball" as they would be stuck having to talk only among themselves whereupon they would all realize they should have put a bullet in their head the day they decided to attend UConn.  Then you have the truly pathetic Notre Dame poster.  What can you say about a lonely old man who sits in his room all day decorated with shamrocks while playing black and white reels of old Notre Dame victories with the fight song blaring in the background while he finishes another six pack of Old Milwaukee and contemplates whether he should change his underwear this week.

I gather BC's  football season is down the dirty toilet seat with plenty of disgarded Angel Soft tissues now by Spazzoo's side. Where once aspirations of grandeur came tummbling down, while aspiring fans awaited a call where there was none to come alive.

Happy to say Wonder Boy Donahue moment in the sun has disappeared by the assemblance of nobodies in a program which leaves even Dickey V  surprised.

Sad to keep these idiots alive, but perhaps some Chirstmas anger will lead to their demise!

Chi - Donnn is a Uconn fan and can take part in conversation and debate at times, but otherwise you'll find the regular ranters who hate BC:
NDqueen who didn't really go to ND, but likes to claim it along with any other program on a hot streak; CherryHoe who is the huskie doggie-style troll, who followed the Atlanta Braves and Edmonton Oilers in the 90's before switching to UConn hoops and Cuban heavyweights; and he's aka Whr-lpgatroll and all his other identities that chime in depending upon which pc his mom left running in the basement behind the burner.

Honestly, its fine to be a UConn fan here and debate. It makes things interesting. At least make an effort to come up with rational talking points, be open to new ideas, and don't be overly obnoxious and unintelligent.

That's easy -- because West Virginia, Syracuse, and Pitt leaving really will end the Big East as we knew it.  Perhaps BC was right in leaving when they did but I'm not sure people predicted the second realignment that took another 6-7 years to happen.

Have you ever looked at Skinner's first three years at BC?  Al had a coaching stop at URI so let's not talk about the Ivy League.

and BTW Sanders would not be playing this year at BC as he transferred and lost a year.  Being the best player in the MAAC is like being the biggest tot in the sandbox.  If Sanders was so good, why didn't he stay and compete in a power conference?

Re: BC Basketball

The truth is that 8-10 years ago Al Skinner did have a couple of good recruiting years.. Dudley & Smith come to mind.... Joe Trapani was a very poor DI player, as was Rakim Sanders These guys would be on the scout team at most ACC hoop schools. When Rice was here he was the only player who touched the ball. BC hasn't been good for 5-6 years and Al left the cupboard empty. I'm not putting Al down, but 4 good players in 10-12 years is pretty bad. he was past his expiration date.

Re: BC Basketball

Not true on a few fronts.
1. The roster is full of freshman and a good percentage of them will develop into dependable DI players.  It's easy to jump on them now because they'll be losing this year.
2. Sanders was recruited by Cooley and after so many staff defections under Al, and then finally Al's termination, he's gone to play with Cooley.
3. Trapani needed to beg his way into the program becasue Al did not recruit or want him.
4.  Al did a great job at BC for many years, but not the last two when his staff had left and he failed to recruit on his own or hire those who could.

It sux to watch them get beaten regularly as they will this year, but no need to rewrite history to pad an argument.

In Response to Re: BC Basketball:
Rakim Sanders is going to be pro. He left the program because Steve Donahue asked him too. The MAAC has 3 or 4 teams who could compete in the ACC and Fairfield would beat Boston College by about 25 points right now.  Joe Trapani got invites from 2 NBA teams and was all conference selection in the ACC two years in a row. He was an upper level Division I player.  Totally incorrect posts before this one on Al Skinner. He did an excellent job at Boston College and recruited a ton of talent, which will never come through as long as Donahue is at the helm. Did anybody watch that game vs lowly Penn State? BC doesn't have one kid who would even make the roster at any other ACC school.
Posted by Thomas10
Thomas, guy, come one, chill on the exaggerations.  First, Skinner did do very well here however once his top assistant coach, who did all of his recruiting left, they were done.  It was the right time for him to go.

Second, why bash on Steve D?  Guy is playing 9 freshmen and a transfer.  Why wouldn't you give him time to see how he does.  Anyone that knows anything knows you need at least 3 recruiting classes before you can truly be judges.  Chill out and give the guy some time.

Joe Trapani was NOT a top tier Div I player.  He was an average to below average Div I player.  And Sanders was asked to leave the program by Steve D because he was a lazy, bad attitude, fat malcontent.  You think if he was a model player Steve D would ask him to leave?  Come one now.

Stop with the absolutes.  Sounds like you write for the Globe sports section.

Re: BC Basketball

Opinions are great. That's why we post.. But please don't provide false information. Joe Trapani was not voted  an ACC all-star. My opinion is that he was an average to below average D1 player, he did NOT make the all league team, so please don't say he did. Rakim Sanders was not as good as Trapani. He is a D2 player.  Al Skinner left Reggie Jackson and 3 really bad seniors. BC hoop stinks right now, but it's not Donahue's fault. This is his first recruiting class (2010 was already done). Give him two years and we will see how he does.
