Uconn couldn't score an offensive touchdown and their game was "more competitive" than Stanford-VTech which was a 1 pt game at halftime? Why? Because they had a pick 6 and a kick return for a touchdown? Sure sure sure. Stop huffing spray paint fumes! -

The powerhouse of the ACC got their butts kicked, no ifs and buts about it. They are a lock to lose Qualifier spots for BCS bowls next year. Remember VT lost to Thomas Jefferson or some one of those guys. ACC a joke. -

U of ND King
If you think for a minute anyone believes you got into ND then you have to be kidding. You are a total joke. How pathetic is it to just hate all day at another school. You sound like you're twelve.
Grow up and get a life. Your parents must be devastated. -

Only a Buffoon College grad could be stupid enough to believe that. -

I already know that most BC fans will never admit it, but you guys made a huge mistake leaving the Big East. You can sit there all you want and talk about how much better off you are in the ACC, but let's take a moment to look at reality. There is a better than even possibility that your team might have been to at least a couple of BCS bowls if you were still in the Big East.Since going to the ACC, your team has basically not measured up to expectations.I know that your Athletic Director sold out for the money, but in the end, at what cost. -

This crap again? Sigh. When will people get it through their heads that this was a strategic move by BC on a number of levels.
1. Increased money. BC didn't have to cut sports like baseball.
2. Increased BC's national appeal, particularly in the Southeast. Applications from the ACC states: Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida have dramatically increased. The move to the ACC was meant to enhance BC's reputation as a national university and move away from the image of being a regional university. (Somewhat related, the Southeast states are one of the few where the population of Catholics are increasing and Catholics will always be a core component of the BC student body).
3. Increased academic cooperation and prestige. As part of the ACC BC gets to associate athletically with what it considers "peer schools": Duke, Wake Forest, UVA, North Carolina Georgia Tech and to a lesser extent, Virginia Tech and Miami. In addition, the ACC has a number of programs related to academic cooperation that help all the schools.
4. Miami and Virginia Tech were already leaving. Should BC keep its relationship with Miami and Virginia Tech? Or stay in a Conference with South Florida and Louisville? Which association would help BC more...Miami and Virginia Tech? Or South Florida and Louisville?
5. The ACC is widely considered to have better soccer and baseball programs than the Big East.
6. Fan Experience. Any fan who has travelled to any ACC school (but especially Clemson and Florida State) has raved about the way the fans of the other schools treat BC fans. Let's compare that to BC's one - and only trip - to UCONN in the past 50 years. Anyone who went to the 2003 game at Storrs can only describe UCONN fans with one word: animals. I know people who said that UCONN fans were throwing bags of human feces and urine at BC fans. Is that a league that you want to associate with? And let's not mention the Guidos of Rutgers and the hillbillies of West Virginia. Thank God we don't have to go to any of those places any more.
7. The Big East is inherently unstable. Does anyone think the Big East will continue as is? Most people in the know think that the non-football/FCS Catholic schools are going to break away and join with the non-football/FCS catholic schools in the Atlantic 10 and Patriot league to form a FCS (1-AA) football league and and all-sports conference, leaving behind the rements to merge with Conference USA.
I could go on, but the move to the ACC was a fantastic one for BC and one that all BC fans support. BC is not the school it was in the 50s: a small regional college with below-average academic reputation. It's goal is to be a national recognized University with a strong academic reputation and the move to the ACC has bolstered that. -

That about sums it up from a BC perspective. Well said.
The move to the ACC has been amazingly great for BC. You would have to be missing chromosomes to think otherwise. -

Come on guys - you would much rather go to a bowl game you do not belong in and and get embarrassed wouldn't you???
I guess anything beats spending time in Storrs. -

Grasping aren't we boys? Convincing ourselves that a better showing in the Kraft Bowl is better than getting wiped in a BCS game is dillusional. The sting is UCONN been FBS 12 years and BCS'ing... period. Congrats, enjoy it, accept it, move on, forget it. Its over and won't happen for them again. Go PAT's and Celts. -

The fact that we went to a marginal bowl again is awful. The fact that we went there neither with fans or the band is a self-indictment of our status.UConn went to a far better game and site. Their program is on the rise. Good for them. And let's get a grip: the move to the ACC was for money only: not for the fans or students. The Big East was a better fit, geographically, traditionally, and competitively. We belong in the ACC as much as we do in the Trans-Arctic League. We went because Dear Leader wanted the gelt.Let's get real, boys and girls. -

Five threads in a row all ending with the mad ravings of an un-hinged single, childless bitter and elderly man. After the tragedy in Arizona this week can we not look at the words of LP but see the face of impending tragedy?LP, please stay away from any large public gatherings involving Fr. Leahy. You live in a world of paranoid fantasy, delusion and fevered conspiracy mongering.Remind you of any other notorious public figures recently?Who are we supposed to trust and believe? The BC board of Trustees? Composed of accomplished, sober, intelligent, educated, people of integrity? Or the howls and wails of an abject failure like your self? A man incapable of even the basics of normal middle-american life: having a wife and children?Stop with your un-hinged personal attacks and slurs against good servants of the Church. Stop your racist resentments against BC students who don't happen to be of European descent.Boston has already had one Fr. Feeney and one Louis Day Hicks. We don't need another. -

Gatzie,You excel at uncalled for, personal insult of the lowest stratum. That, in addition, to trying to hide your identifiable venom by posting under multiple names. (What does that say about whatever "training" you had at The Heights?)Where your trouble also emerges is responding to FACT.For someone to go postal, as you did, over a post with which you disagree, (especially a SPORTS post) suggests that you may profit from seeking counseling. All the best with that.PSIf you have anything SUBSTANTIVE to say about my post, I'd welcome reading same.Peace, my son. -

Truth be told, I actually agree with LP for the most part. THe move to the ACC was 100% about money. However, that makes them no different than any single other Div I atheltic program. It's always 100% about the money and it always will be. So to single out BC for that is silly.
The ACC move made us a better program, we get better athletes and it's made the lower sports like soccer and baseball much much better. However, we do belong in the Big East if this was not about money. That's obvious. Just like TCU (the T stands for Texas) doesn't belong in the Big East.
It's all about teh $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ everywhere. Stop being shocked by it.
