Time to let it go ... GDF!
Notre Dame has its problems and is struggling with the academic side of the fence with athletes. The SEC is the new Kentucky where the schools are more admission friendly, or a once in a generation QB as Andrew Luck shows up knocking at the door, and he chooses both academics, and football which is rare today.
What athlete wants to fiddle with organic chemistry for 10 hours a day with labs RG3???

Donn I think it is because if York wants it to happen GDF is smart enough to leave him alone and go with it. BC will be a power for the foreseeable future so there is no skin off his nose I do think that GDF harbors a lot of ill will against UCONN and the BE. I think he really resents being personally named and being old school naming his boss. I don't know if he is Sicilian but it sure seems like a vendetta. He particularly dislikes BC being portrayed as double dealing, which the meeting minutes and notes do not support I do have to admit from the FB perspective GDF saw it coming and did the best for BC to save a stream of revenue. The travesty of the BE dangling the AQ like a streetwaker on a corner is a real spectacle. I think they are also waiting for the whale (ND) to come ashore; they seem content to wait for that to happen

I can see that with hockey as Uconn does not pose an immediate threat to hockey and most likely won't anytime soon. The football and basketball thing is dumb as that can only help BC to get a regional rival. I have been to BC football games in the BE and the ACC and the ACC games are a bit boring. There is no real rivalry for any ACC school and BC. I also went to BC/Uconn football and basketball and the basketball game had mostly Uconn fans but the football game was 50/50 which is pretty good for the BC crowd. (Both were at BC). I do sense this is an emotional vote from GDF but frankly I'm shcked his opinion matters that much given he is on the hot seat as far as his job.
As for ND joining a conference, I wish the BE would push them out until they commit to a league in football. I hate the independent football thing and they are not that good to stay independent. That being said, I think they would probably go to the ACC if forced to join a conference and then I think the ACC will revisit Uconn joining to even out the league. Who knows, GDF might still be around (for BC's sake, I hope not!) to vote with his emotion instead of his brain. Not a great role model for BC kids....

you know Donn I think they should not have let ND in for hockey as they are bringing their own hockey contract with NBC; I understand the exposure nationally but I would have let them rot in the remains of the CCHA rather than accept this nonsense.
I do not think GDF is in as much trouble as some think; Spaz is a problem but in hiring SD he is doing what Leahy wants with an emphasis on academics. The cash flow is better with the ACC contract, new teams and they are out of the mess that is the BE. From his boss's view Ii don't think it is that dark
