From the Horse's Mouth: The Future is Bleak at Conte

It's been two and a half weeks since Mark Blaudschun's revealing column detailing his interview with Stevie Wonder appeared in the Globe on May 27th.

Isn't it interesting that none of the camp followers here mentioned that column here.

    Hmmmm

Now just why would that be, think ye?

Well, maybe if we review the highlights of the piece, perhaps we can understand why there's been silence from the Uber Alles crowd.

    • Stevie "remembers the bad old days, when he was trying to establish himself as a head coach at Cornell. He had a team with little talent that produced few wins and drew few fans. Some gatherings at Cornell's Newman Arena could be measured by the dozens."
    • Sound familiar?
    • Stevie's team is "coming off a 21-13 season."
    • Stevie "basically coached a team assembled by former coach Al Skinner, including All- ACC guard Reggie Jackson."
    • Hmmm
    • "Jackson is gone, having opted to skip his senior season and enter next month's NBA draft. So is the core group of seniors and other Skinner recruits, leaving  BC in a rebuilding mode with lots of scholarships to give and some major reconstruction work for Donahue and his staff."
    • Stevie's response to that plight" "It's fun and it's challenging." DOUBLE Hmmm
    • Stevie's assessment of the present:  At Cornell, we had some long, lean years and you questioned yourself and asked "When it is ever going to turn?...
    • IMPRESSIVE SAGACITY THERE, STEVIE WONDER. BASED ON YOUR TRACK RECORD, EAGLE FANS WILL BE ASKING THEMSELVES THAT SAME QUESTION FOR MOST OF THE NEXT DECADE.
AND LET'S NOT DEPART WITHOUT ANOTHER DESERVED SHOUT-OUT TO THE GENII WHO BROUGHT US THIS LONG- LASTING CHAOS:

OUR SELF-ESTEEMED DEAR LEADER, AND HIS MINION AD!

    Nice to see you back

    How about those minutes?

How about the lack of publicity in college guides about the admin's duplicity?

How do you explain />32K applications including I believe a record number this year?

How about the turnover figures for the past 15 years?

What about criticism for Calhoun and the suspension, while bringing up other such things at BC which no one in the College was associated with? How about the dismal APR and loss of now three scholaships?

How about PC losing eight scholarship basketball athletes in two years?  Shouldn't the AD and Pres be held accountable for creating an atmosphere where this can happen?

Is losing a scholaship athlete ok because a new coach did not want to keep him?  If so what are the other reasons why it is ok when an athelete leaves when a new coach comes on board?  Is it ok if the kid decides on his own to leave?

Facts are your friends not your enemies

Wow, looks like he was away at typing camp.  Lp can now not only use all caps and bold but he's learned how to use colored font.  Big step for OAM (stands for old angry man).

I wonder if the class was called, "How to make the crap you type seem less crappy with colored font"???

Notice that the ONLY camp follower who responded to the Blaudschun article (old MO) offered NOT ONE word of SUBSTANTIVE comment about the content of the piece.

Doesn't that tell us all that even the blindly devoted Uber Alles crowd realized that this coaching change has been a disaster?

    Peace

Your post was akin to a reader's digest abridged version of a book with annotations in the excerpts.  Next time either use the Cliff Notes' version of the article or get some help from the notetaking service.  The analysis could benefit from the input of those two august sources

It's truly bizarre that an "alledged" BC grad derives so much enjoyment with his attempts to undermine what a new coach is accomplishing. Would Skinner have had the success this past season & garnered the praise from the press & ACC insiders? We'll never know, but I am very pleased to see an active coach who doesn't just leave the details to assistants. The future of Eagle b'ball has never looked brighter.

    gspBison,

    The Blaudschun article presented F A C T S - plus a damning admission by Stevie Wonder.

Instead of wimpering, how about responding in kind?

    Peace.

gspBiston (and Prov and Mo) -

I used to interact with LP when I thought he was wrongheaded but at least cared about BC. That quicky changed to I interacted with him to expose the fact that he was a crank wth axe to grind.

In the past few months however, I have changed my approach.  And that is to not interact with him because he obviously has severe issues with mental illness. That is the only way to explain his approach and his conclusions.  He is not a well-adjusted, normal person in any way. He needs treatment, not attention.

So, when they have no answer, they revert to their stock in trade: insult.

No one answers you anymore LP because it's not worth it.  You have a closed mind and are unwilling or unable to engage in adult back n forth, give n take conversation.

Mind you, no one on here has ever said SD is the savior and has fully succeeded.  Rather, we have all basically said we like the start he's had, he seems to be moving in the right direction, but at the end of the day time will tell.  That's it.

You are fighting tooth and nail to try and prove to us that he's a failure.  Well he's not.  He's nothing now, there hasn't been enough time.  But we are sick of trying to talk to you about it.  We would rather sit back and see what happens.

So we get it.  You think he's terrible, the program is sinking, Al is a better coach, the Gang of 2 is evil, too any 3s won't work, the Flex is better, and he will fail fail fail, blah blah blah....  WE GET IT.

You will either be right or wrong.  I wish you luck with it.
