I do have some sense of amusement at the tortured logic that some Uconn fans offer concerning Uconn fans buying tickets from other, presumably cheaper sources.  BC fans have long been criticized for their bowl travel.  I have gone to a number of BC bowl games and frankly was surprised that the attendance was often better than the reported numbers (the Champs Bowl in 2007 being the most visible example).  Nevertheless, BC's travel reputation has been based on the actual tickets the school sells.  Likewise, Uconn's travel reputation will be based on the same standard - ticket sales through the college. (Unless, of course, the Uconn fans want to state that only Uconn fans are smart enough to figure out that it is cheaper to buy tickets from sources other than the school. LOL!) Actually, the Uconn and BC fan profiles are quite similar.  So are their FB attendance numbers each season which pretty much mirror one another. Both fan bases are reflective of northern college FB which does not have the volume or passion of their southern counterparts. Each school has had embarrassing moments regarding fan attendance across all sports.  For BC, the ACC Championship Game in 2008 comes to mind, with the aerial shot of all the empty seats (although VT's attendance at that game wasn't anything to write home about either, despite being a game that was drivable for them).  For Uconn, it would probably be the Men's BB Final Four in 2011 where their semi-final game featured a whole section of empty seats on the floor; with Uconn forced to give away tickets to fans of the schools eliminated in the semi-final game to fill the seats. (Oh, and BTW, to the Uconn fans chortling over Uconn's BCS game, I offer my congratulations.  However, come on, you got that bowl berth after finishing in 1st place, after an 8-4 season, in what was a dreadful BE that year - where not one team, including Uconn, finished the season in the Top 25. The BE was heavily criticized and Uconn was demolished in the game itself.  Again, congratulations, but to point to that game as an indication of Uconn superiority is foolish, IMO.)

Random thoughts on these topics: 1.  Florida State football has much bigger problems than a league switch could resolve.  They're suffering a post-bobby bowden boil backside of the program, and until a new, dynamic leader takes over, they will linger just below the big boys.  No, I don't think Jimbo is that guy. 2.  BC sports (other than hockey) are so sad right now, that one has to consider the ACC move to be a questionable decision in terms of its impact on recruiting and competitive potential.  As for the academic advantages of being in the ACC, I'd like someone to explain them so we can all enjoy the success. 3. #2 does not matter much, because if BC stayed in the Big East, they'd very likely be at similar levels competitively against what now makes up the league.  Then again, maybe they'd have hired a different coach or two... 4.  The ACC football plan for success is screwed despite adding Pitt and Syracuse, particulalry if Fla St leaves or worse, stays and continues to excel at mediocrity. 5.  What ever happened to the U of  Miami?  wth? 6. If Clemson, Miami, G.Tech and Fla. St want to join the Big12, and Syracuse, Pitt, Conn and Rutgers want join the ACC, isn't Eastern football just beginning to roll things back 20 years and use different conference names?
