Donnn, you are either really dumb or really crazy.  I haven't refuted how poor BC sports are.  If you are confused by the word "haven't" it's "have" & "NOT" put together.  Both football and basketball are bad...right now.  Now, unlike you, I don't take this to mean they will be bad forever.  That's what I am refuting.  Bad now doesn't automatically mean bad forever.  Does that work for you?  Easy enough to understand?  If you'd like to discuss this point, I am all for it.  But first I need to be clear you understand it. You have sunk to making up things you think I said and then arguing them.  That's a sign of crazy man. I just hope you are on here when Calhoun eventually gets fired for being a dirtball and Unconn hoops fall to the level of all their other sports....crappy. Lastly, please try to make some sense.  Telling me that I am saying BC sports aren't bad right now (when I am not) makes you look like dummy.  Please try to do better

In Response to Re: How does DeFlippo still have a job? : You have too many falsehoods and half-truths in one sentence for me to cover them all so I'll just take a few of them.  (1) The 'cheating' involved a lower-level guy sending too many text messages to a recruit that never even went to UConn something like 3-4 years ago (2) Kemba Walker did not say that he 'never even looked at a book while a Husky', he said that William Rhoden's book was the first he had read straight through.  This is not a good thing to say but most college courses have textbooks that most students skim to study (3) UConn did not 'try to sue BC', in fact UConn (via the governor and attorney general) joined Pitt, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia in suing Miami, BC, and the ACC -- that's right 2 of the 5 schools that sued already joined or are joining the ACC so your point about UConn doesn't make any sense.   Also, the Big Least?  Really?  After the ACC just had one of the worst bowl performances of any major conference in the history of college football?  Whose conference champion gave up 70 points to a very mediocre West Virginia team? After the conference has been completely dominated in basketball by just TWO teams for the past 15 years.  After the Big East had more teams in the NCAA basketball tournament than any other conference in history and won the championship?

Rumors of point-shaving first surfaced after the Oct. 26 Syracuse game, in which the Orangemen trailed 14-7 before rallying for 17 points in the final 1:43 of the first half. After the pathetic performance by the football team and this basketball team being almost the worst team in D1, how does this guy NOT get fired?  Imagine being that unsuccessful at your own job and still keeping it.   BC is getting  "waxed" by Ivy league teams and just lost to a 2-12 team in URI!  something needs to be done... What is going on?

Very well-written and researched column in the Washington Post today by college basketball writer John Feinstein on ACC basketball since expansion.  For example, he documents that ACC basketball coaches were against expansion 9-0 but were ignored by everyone.  Further, he quotes former Maryland coach Gary Williams on how much damage expansion has done to ACC recruiting, basically saying that only Duke and North Carolina can successfully recruit nationally now.   Probably the most significant part of the column though is actually documenting how far the ACC has fallen in basketball.  In the 15 years prior to expansion, the ACC had four separate teams play in the Final Four and three other teams make it to the Elite Eight (i.e. nearly every ACC team had at least made an Elite Eight appearance during that time period).  Since expansion, only Duke and UNC has made the Final Four and no other team has ever made the Elite Eight.  In fact, other than Duke and UNC, there have only been 3 Sweet Sixteen appearances in total by any ACC teams since expansion.  Of course adding more teams should have made this more likely rather than less. ACC is 4-3 against the Ivy League this year and teams have lost to Wofford, Holy Cross, Boston University, Coastal Carolina, Mercer, and Tulane. Feinstein concludes: "Translation: On a national level since expansion, the ACC has become, for all intents and purposes, a two-team league."

I agree that ACC hoops is down for the count right now.  I've mentioned this before and cited prior articles.  The football ACC leaves a lot to be desired too.  It's a shame that $$$ rules all the college presidents and AD's as they eliminate decades of rivalries.  I was 50/50 with the ACC move for BC.  Based upon what's happening to the Big East now, it was probably a decent idea to get out before conrference failure.  However, if both leagues are hurt and never to be the same, then this was bad all around. As for Big East rivalries, we definitely lost some good ones (though getting back Pitt & Syracuse now is a good move) though the BE has changed and there's too much travel involved there as well.

The ACC was an embassasssment in the BCS: Dicky V on Mike & Mike: "there need to be some accountability by the NCAA in putting ACC teams in these BSC Bowls". Love Dicky V the ACC simply is terrible and their Basketball programs has declined!    "The Orange Bowl a once prominent Bowl is the least".

Hey everyone, did you hear.  Donnn says that BC doesn't want to compete.  Because he says so, it must be true.  I actually just saw that BC is planning to hold a press conference today that will state they give up and no longer strive to win, all because Donn said it to be true... Uconn a national following?  Gimme a break.  I can't wait till Calhoun is gone.  Then we'll see what type of "national" following they have.
