Re: MA Football Recruits And BC

I just spoke to the Miami U. football recruiter at the Yard House restaurant at Merrick Park in Coral Gables where he was entertaining a group of football recruits. Temp today 80 with sunshine. The recruits are staying at the Sonesta Coconut Grove, where rooms go for about $400 a night, with views overlooking Biscayne Bay. To paraphrase something I read when LeBron left Cleveland - "Lake Erie or Biscayne Bay - no contest." "Chestnut Hill Reservoir or Biscayne Bay" - it's a much tougher sell for BC.

Re: MA Football Recruits And BC

BC has recruited against Miami and every other program all along, and except for a few years of win-loss failure such as 2011, they have landed enough quality players to run a competitive program.  No, they can't compete with the weather or the southern belles, but that has never been accepted as an excuse to fail miserably in building and coaching a team.

No need to consider the whr-lpga troll comments that belittle many grads who have succeeded or attempted to, in the nfl, though apparently not up to the whr-lpga troll expectation levels...

But what every BC fan or alum needs to admit, the development of quality players into the NFL will naturally slow or cease now that recruiting has tailed off or failed in recent years.  Let's hope for a quick awakening among the athletic program decision makers, though that's not apparent as of yet.

Good point above that BC's NFL playes will slow down as we've had some bad year recruiting.  Bottom line, we need a new coach.  It's pretty simple.  Heck do what Ohio St did and keep the intern coach as the D-coord.  Just get someone younger who can recruit....

Statistics 101 will give one odds on a Bell Curve as to the probablities of occurances in a situation. From these discussions, the probablility of BC achieving a BCS Bowl appearance, in the near future, is pretty bleak with Spaziani's recruiting methodology.

Re: MA Football Recruits And BC

Last year was one of BCs best recruiting years, so I don't think that you can say that BCs recruiting has tailed off due to one year (this year). In fact, two of last years four star recruits (Miller and Wujciak) never made it to the field due to injuries. They should be on the field contributing this year and will help offset the poor recruiting year that they are having this year. And remember, with BC not losing a lot of players to graduation, they don't need a lot of recruits this year.  There will probably only be room for Miller, Wujciak and possibly a couple of the new recruits to make the two-deep.

If last year was a good recruiting year, and with the stiffs they have at QB, at 4-8, BC is in deep do do!

I think the problem is not so much at QB , but at wide receiver, where they don't have the speed.
