Metro Story on BC Athletics

For those who didn't see it, the front page of Monday's Boston Metro featured a photo of a BC basketball game played in a mostly empty Conte Forum. Football alumni in particular aren't happy with Gene DeFilippo.

Inferior rag sheet tells it all in a most revealing article!
Not so, at the University of Notre Dame, with Football, Baseball, Hockey, and above all Basketball programs showing great in-roads to successful seasons. We can take pride we are not a smeared Catholic university in Chestnut Hill which has disgraced the ACC, it fans, and alums. Yes, we hear the rumblings out at South Bend, about BC downfall, but our strong endowment, commitment to improving our ranked athletic program with the hiring’s of Brian Kelly, Jeff Jackson put our students, alums, and worldwide subway fan base first!
The $50 million Compton Family Center, the best collegiate hockey venue in the nation attests to UND's commitment to excellence in each sport it undertakes. For BC, its dead beat attendance referenced by a rag sheet attests to its demise in athletics.

Bottom line is NO ONE who doesn't benefit in some why financially from BC is happy with Gene D. How could you be? To say that Spaz is your best coach is more of an insult. Then the guy has the balls to go on Twitter and praise another team's fans for showing up ontime to the game while ignorning the zillion issues everyone has going to a BC home game.
This is going to end ugly. Either he's gong to get fired and go out kicking n screaming or the athletic program will sink to depths that make today look great. -

Great article on how much the Beheads Coaches Institute has failed in every direction since joing the ACC. -

Can BC sustain 3 more years under Flippos' direction? Failing fan base, failing venues, and failing recruiting casts' a shadow over BC mediocrity through the years! -

Would think after one assesses this athletic program a drop down in Divisional play would be more appealing to the fan base, and athletic revenues which continue to acerbate?

What do you expect from a Boston sportwriter? I think he has to root for the hometown team no matter what ... yes, criticize sometimes, but on the whole a positive spin. Are you upset that he's become a little less of a UCon raver, or that the Harvard (and UMass) bandwagons are rolling (in UM's case, rolling again)? -

I will define the worrd objectivity for you in Journalism 101:- ability to view things objectively: the ability to perceive or describe something without being influenced by personal emotions or prejudices
- accuracy: the fact or quality of being accurate, unbiased, and independent of individual perceptions
- actual existence: the actual existence of something, without reference to people's impressions or ideas

I guess this doesn't apply when it comes to ESPN - coverage of their two games in the last two days sounded like coverage by the student radio station. -

The more interesting question for all is what are YOU going to do with yourself now that the BC basketball season is over?
What are you going to PLAY WITH? -
