Late in January I made the following predictions (in green). The season is not quite over yet for Socky and his 25 teams,  but in 72 hours the Fat Lady will start warbling.  Let's do a revew and second round of predictions (in red) just before the curtain falls on Chairborne's favorite of the 25:

Notre Dame - The Irish were an independent for so long that they forget they're required to show up for the ACC post season tournament.  They forfeit for not showing up in time for tip-off.   The CBI doesn't mind, and invites them to play in their little tournament. Foolishly believing they are the same prestigious program they were back in the days of black and white teevee, they decline the invitation.

The Irish never really recovered from the mauling they received at the hands of the Bison of North Dakota State.   Did they get too cocky after their resounding victory over the Bryant Bulldogs?  We'll never know.  They showed why they're called the Fighting Irish though, as they scratched and brawled their way to  the 13th seed in the ACC.  It all comes crashing down as Wake Forest puts the Irish out of their misery on Thursday.  They fell short of their preseason goal of .500, so it will be hard to decline an CBI bid if they don't even get one.  Could go either way, stay tuned.

Alabama -  The Red Tide thoroughly enjoys the SEC finals.   (When you play in the opening round they give you great seats to watch the remainder of the tournament).  At half time of the Championship Game the team makes a pinky promise to "do this again" at the Spring Football practice.  Roll Tide!

Even though it was a down year for the SEC, the Pink Tide managed to finish a solid 11th. They beat SEC tournament foe LSU once, so the pinky promise may come a day later than expected.  No worries, still plenty of tickets remain for the Championship Game.

UConn-Storrs - They sweat out Selection Sunday from Kevin Ollie's living room.  Past reputation gets them in as an 11 seed.  It's a pedestrian one and done, but hey, at least they're off probation.   The post season breakup party features a road trip to Hartford for some hooch before clearing out their lockers, tossing their never-opened books in the trash, and stealing a couple of laptops on the way out of the dorms.  Woof!

The Huskies won't be sweating it out after all.   They're in.  Lousville provided the blueprint for beating them like the rented mules that they are however - just show up.  It's a pity,  Apple is announcing a new model next week,  but the Boyz will have already packed up and left campus by then. That's the problem with signing up for a college for only 3.5 semesters.  They'll just have to steal last years model.

USC - Continues their roll through the PAC-12, finishing without a single blemish in the conference W column.  PAC-12 convenes and decides that since they didn't show up for the regular season that they don't have to show up for the PAC-12 tourney either.   Players don't mind much since they got paid up front.  Surf's Up!

Well, the Surfer Dudes really messed up.  We're not sure what happened but they won two games and as a result they secured the 12th slot in the PAC 12. And that means something, because there are actually 12 teams in the PAC 12.  I'm afraid they will have to let Colorado beat them for the third time this season.  Oh the humanity!

Newcomers like Joe need not worry about Chair however.  Sure, these teams may have tanked,  but he's got more irons in the fire.  He has put his weight behind the Big 10, Big 12, ACC,  SEC, and PAC 12 as conferences too.   He's a daredevil, that one, putting it all out on the line like that.  I think it was the Army Training he pretends he had.

Not bad ... can we guess the author for some fun in this blog besides bashing those arrested at ZOOMASS, and those that will lose their BHCC Title III Federal-aid?

Great post, Slim! Maybe Cheery and his merry men's group can get their ESL reading teacher to read it to them and explain it.

Notre Dame was a great edition to the ACC.  Last night we had a little Noblesse Oblige action as the Fightin' Irish generously helped Wake Forest do something they hadn't done in 8 seasons, and that's win an ACC tournament game.

    Well done, Laddies!  Well done!

Agree two top catholic schools do not have the ability to recruit from solid high school b-ball programs, and are not friendly to black athletes who wave the academic flag around Union territory up North.

Duke & UNC are Kings in  Tobacco Country dudes. Face it and stop lying that you are competitive bubbas. Add in that Turkey of a school out in Western MA thaat believes they are anything more than a 10th seed, and are One & GONZO.

    Rolel Tide, Roll On!

I've been to the Masters.  No kidding.  Doing AIT training at Ft Gordon at time, and they had a drawing and I was one of the lucky winners.  It was 1985, the year Jack won it when he was about 41, which seemed old at the time, but that age is sounding pretty young now.

AHHH.. Ft. Gordon Mr. Slim.... home of the U.S.A. Military Police.... know it well, might have been your DI?  ACC course a true, but I surely love the the sites of Augusta.

Please do not tell 82nd you'll have an Army buddy for life, and Indian Man and ScreenName would come up with more sock puppets now BC went 8-24.

UMASS looks like a 8-10 seed out West.

If they ran the table in Brooklyn they could go as high as a 6, but I'm not expecting that.  I think they are indeed looking a 8/9 game first up.    Those could go either way.  And then the Party's over if that's how it plays out.  Just can't picture them beating a 1.  Or a 2.

I don't remember the MP's at Fort Gordon.  The big thing, back then at least, were the Signal Corps.  But it was a big base so maybe that was going on too.  Did Basic at Ft McCellan, and there they did have an MP school.  That base got shut down later though.

What 25 Series MOS there? Like Augusta in Summer???

11B is phased training. Ranger Training was 9 weeks in 4 Forts.

IU Hoosiers. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy in Tom Crean, right up there with Calipari, Krzyzewski, Alford, Boeheim, and Beilein in guys I love to hate. John Thompson used to be at the head of the list, but Jr. isn't as despicable.
