I was out of the Country last week.   It sounds like it was a disappointing turnout at the Garden for the event.   Bummer, I hope they give it another go next year, but won't be surprised if they don't.

They should expand this event into a New England college basketball event by including colleges like UConn, Providence, URI, and others. It might attract more fans and build the fan base.

All three schools suck in basketball. URI give me a break, PC Friars another joke.

Pro Football, and the Patriots are Kings in the Fall/Winter anyway...

Bill Belichick should offer all of his Offensive Line, all his draft picks for this LSU phenom Zach Mettenberger the best QB in the Country after he destroyed Johnny Football...

I'm a big Patriots fan also always look forward to seeing them play on Sundays. But I also really like college basketball because it's so entertaining. Going to the Mullins Center watching UMass is a blast.

I didn't say one team was good or bad all I meant by my comment is that I'd like to see the colleges in the area promote college basketball more with these type of events. College basketball popularity does increase after the Super Bowl but a lot of good basketball is played before then like now.

I think you idea is great. hope the AD's will look in that direction. Having only been to 1 game at the Mullins Center, I hope it is packed all season long. Most people understood your comment anout a NE regional tourney. Don't worry if some twist it around to mean something different.

Seems loser Screen Name, and cheerho barbs got edited out in this new posting policy? Perhaps, the Globe can reach out to Chief 1948, and start a CTR ALT DEL block, when his sign in is initiated?

Beheads Coaches Institute now face an angry Purdue team in West Lafayette that got their heads handed to them by #5 OSU.  Could be a punishing trip to the Hoosier State for these lilly white scrubs.

The "new" posting policy has been in effect since 2004. Here it is:
Keep it clean. No swears or porn.
Be nice. No threats, abuse, or spam.
    Be respectful. No hate speech.
Be truthful. Don't pretend to be somebody else.
Debate, but don't attack. Stay away from personal attacks.
No ads. No pushing a product or service, and no asking for money.
Don't steal. Don't post somebody else's stuff, and don't libel anybody.
We can edit. Or delete. Or ban you.

Unfortunately, in the case of you and your little BC-hating buddies, Boston.com doesn't enforce the policy very well. Otherwise, your collective asses would have been banned a long time ago.

UMass moves from 24 to 21 in the AP poll.  And goes from 26 to 22 in the Coaches poll.  Dayton slides into the AP poll, replacing VCU.  GW is getting some attention now too.  And St Louis is lurking and expected to contend as the season moves forward.  Who needs Temple, Xavier, Butler, and Charlotte. Not the A10!

Consider HARVARD there Slim ... winning the Great Alaske Shoot Out, and the best of the lot!

Only suck collegiate team in New England is Buffoon College, whose Coach showed so much delusion, as the Buffoons bought the whole can of worms on this loser.

UCONN still undefeated .... GO Huskies

UMass looks solid, and GWU and Dayton could contend. Being from Ohio, I've always been a Flyers fan, going back to the Don May days. Not sure about St. Louis, though. They've beaten some cupcakes, but lost to Wisconsin and Wichita, although both are top 20 teams. It's still a long season.

I'd put Harvard the 3rd best in New England this season, behind UConn and UMass.  Too bad UMass and Harvard aren't going toe-to-toe this season, often they do.  Are they playing UConn this season?

Providence is looking decent.  Perhaps a bubble team, perhaps not.  That new Big East looks alot less appealing in their new line up.  URI still a year or two away.

    [/QUOTE]
Harvard at UConn on Jan. 8. BC at Harvard Jan. 1. I'll be at that one. UConn has not played a true away game yet this year. 5-0 at home, 3-0 at neutral sites. They were lucky to win by 1 at home yesterday vs. a seriously undermanned Florida team.

Umass is ranked  21st in the AP this week and there isn't a single mention of it anywhere in the globe or on boston.com. But they still have the article about BC winning the hockey title from two years ago on their college sports page. I know Umass hasn't played in a week but if this was BC they would have six articles about how they are ranked in top 25. Hoping for another win tonight against an inferior Eastern Michigan team. Should force the Globe to start writing about them.

I don't understand the lack of UMass coverage either, and I'm a BC fan. They do a terrible job, in general, of updating the site. The Cousy vs. Dr. J thing is there from last spring. Complaining here is a waste of time, though. Get in touch with the sports editor, Matt Pepin. How about more coverage of UMass football, too? On second thought, maybe not a good idea.

No only the Beheads Coaches Intitute in this forum, and their closet affaires at the YMCA.

UCONN good win over UF, and UMASS will go as far as a 8-10 in the Tourney. Harvard has an awesome team, and I look for Harvard's Tommy Amaker to pee on an inferior Wonder boy's jock strap soon ... Nice to see the ACC taking a hit as the conference sucks and is no longer the premier conference with UNC losing to UAB. Time for Roy Williams  to exit.
