Medford 2 Somerville 2....good game AWFUL officiating which ruined it with a stupid red card for somerville and countless fouls called on each team.

The globe has been pathetic in the reporting of scores. I don't know who's job it is, but get the scores and the names of teams correct. How hard is that?

Does anyone know if the L-S v Boston Latin score is correct? It's posted at 3-3, that would be an amazing result for BL.

Does Norwell ever play anyone good? They are in the very weak south shore league. They definitely need a challenge. Still think Weymouth is the top team out of the south with Sandwich and Nauset close behind.

Third best team in that league loses to Norwood, not to mention the slim margin of victory by Norwell over fairly weak opponents, unfortunately don't think they'll be visiting the Top 25 anytime soon.

Sandwich is D2 and Nauset isn't close to Weymouth, talk about a weak league, the only competition down their (on the cape) is when Nauset and Sandwich play eachother and that was a blowout (Sandwich won 4-0)! Agree on the Norwell assessment. The Globe needs to start a top 30, the top 10 teams by division. Then their won't be any of these silly comparisions like D1 Weymouth ranked #13 and D3 Cardinal Spellman ranked #10, anyone want to venture a guess as to the scoere if they actually played eachother.

Weymouth is probably a stronger team than CS. Strength of schedule is usually undervalued in the rankings, but they are just for fun and fairly meaningless. We will see how everyone does within their division come playoff time.
On the other hand I dont agree with the assertion that the best teams come from Division 1. The two most impressive teams at this point in the season have been Winchester and Concord Carlisle both of whom are D2N. The enjoyment of the rankings comes from the cross divisional and cross league comparisons.
I do think the D1 tournament is the most difficult to win. It usually has the most depth, and at the end of the day Ludlow is almost always the best of the West.

I agree, Attleboro is bringing back quite a few from last year. They took New Bedford to OT before losing. They could make a statement come tourney time.

So Norwell plays weak teams, but that is their league. They should play tougher teams for their non-league match ups. The ACL league which Nauset and Sandwich are in is decent. Marshfield and Falmouth always put up a good fight. A Canton - Hingham match up would be good to see. Weymouth still the top team south of Boston.

Despite the loss to New Bedford, would you say Weymouth would take out Brockton at this point?

Come tourney time I wouldn't count Brockton out and saying that Weymouth is better is a bold statement. The Bay State League has a lot of parody in their league and its one of the toughest leagues out there. I just wouldn't count Brockton out. Brockton has been in more SOUTH finals in the past five years than all the BSL teams combined. I think Framingham has been better than Brockton but they play in the North. BTW whats up with Framingham this year, just not that good?

I think Brockton is a very good team. Didn't mean to sound like they weren't near the top. I think Weymouth is solid top to bottom and their midfield play is what makes them so strong.
Still a lot of games to play for all divisions so surely the rankings and standings will change.

Quotes from the Winchester coach:
“I thought we played well enough to win, it just didn’t go that way, Austin said. “Anyone who saw that game definitely came away saying we were the stronger the team.’’
"“The past five years, [Lexington has ] been the staple,’’ Austin said. “And I think we’ve accomplished what we set out to accomplish. Anybody in the stands would probably say we had 60-70 percent of the possession and that’s what we’re proud of. We showed everyone we can play."

Problem is Winchester doesn't seem to fair well in the tournament, they have a history of not doing so well.
