Nope, good record, less than average conference. They're okay, just not a Top 35 team.

Re: 2013 High School Boys Basketball

It's fairly easy to "work the system" being a D-3 team, playing against mostly D-1 and D-2 teams. I'm thought Norwood was D-3, but by your post it sounds like they are D-2.

All Dedham has to do is schedule against a couple of weak Mayflower teams and it's a freebie into the playoffs. I agree, the system does need to be tweaked. However, I also understand the unfair advantage of being a D-3 school having to compete against D-2 or D-1 teams in conference.  Most bad teams stay bad, for whatever reason, so it's easy to figure out who to put on your scheudle to get those wins.

    In response to DFURY-13's comment:

    Hi Alex,

I wrote this in another thread. I wanted to know your take on the subject since you seem to follow this really well:

I'm actually calling out my own High School here. Dedham High is 3-11, but because they went 2-2 in out of conference games we get an automatic bid. I coached CYO and we had to win 70% of our games with much less talent to make our tournament playing against kids that if they lived in Dedham would be Dedham's team. I only had one player that could play at the varsity level and we'd be playing against teams with 3+ guys who could play at that level. Weston High has won 7 varsity games in 4 seasons, yet Dedham piggy backs to the tournament every year off this aweful team. The rule needs to be changed. Whatever happened to winning at least the majority of your actual games and earning a spot? I don't think the kids learn anything about earning an opportunity here. It's like having a culture of losing and being rewarded for it. I guess my thought process is old school, but I had to go out and earn everything I did as an athelete and in life. Seems foolish to me.

Alex is clueless. Martha's Vineyard was a top 25 team and they showed it. Thank God one paper in Boston has a clue.

It took me about 2 hours to think if I should even respond to this nonsense.

Martha's Vineyard had losses against Dennis-Yarmouth, Mashpee, Somerset, Dartmouth and Abington with 0 quality wins during the regular season. However, they did have a very sucessful post season, even though it was D-3. I give them credit, they beat Wareham and played Danvers very tough, two very good teams.

Did you defend the other person's position when they were losing to the weak teams or only after they made their run in the tournament?

Just because a team is ranked #13 at any point during the season, doesn't guarantee that team to be the 13th best team at the end of the season, if that were the case, the rankings would never change. Which is why it's foolish to take the ranking so seriously, like someone is hating on your team, because they aren't in the Top 20 or Top 25.

And if this wasn't a troll post, I'm not sure what is, but make sure you call out Dan Ventura from the Herald, because he didn't have MV in that ranking list either, what does he know?(roll eyes).
