This is based off 23 teams making it.

If the Ponders tie Woburn they would fall in line to play 1 of the last two seeds.  If they beat Woburn, they could be in line for a bye.
If they don't beat Woburn they are looking at around 12 seed.

This is based off projecting W,L and T's the rest of the way.  Just a guess on how things could end up.  By late Thursday night D1 will be locked minus coin flips, that will occur Saturday when the pairs are really announced.  But coaches could have a good idea who they are getting for Friday's practice.

In Response to Re: EMASS Girls Hockey 2010-2011:
There have been 8 exclusion games in girl's hockey so far this season.  Note: Exclusion schools may not exceed the season scheduling limits and must count all contests toward tournament qualification and seeding unless playing each other, then at least one must count, and both may count. So it counts for excluded school and not for school School Excluded School Game Date Acton-Boxborough Fontbonne Academy (Milton) 12/16/10 Archbishop Williams Fontbonne Academy 12/9/10 Archbishop Williams Fontbonne Academy 1/5/11 Austin Prep Fontbonne Academy (Milton) 12/23/10 Mount Saint Joseph Academy Fontbonne 12/17/10 Mount Saint Joseph Academy Fontbonne 2/3/11 Mount Saint Joseph Academy Notre Dame - Hingham 1/14/11 Mount Saint Joseph Academy Notre Dame - Hingham 1/25/11 As I understand the rule, these contests do not count towards post season qualification and seeding.  If that is correct AB's L to Font. does not count.  It also means AP's tie with Font. does not count.  AP will have to go 2-1 in last three (Norwood, Shrewsbury, Lexington) to make post season.  These games do count for Font. As far as the D2 picture, it's a popsicle headache to look at.  But, the one thing I do see is Archies has a better chance to make tourney with their 2 L's v Font. not counting.
    Posted by goodtime19

Just trying to understand this exclusion rule a little better....

So these 8 games and only these 8 games will be excluded for tournament calculation, is that correct?

Other teams may play against these exclusion schools but not exclude the game for tournament calculation purposes?

Some teams may play up to 22 games and have all their games count towards the tournament as long as two of those games are against exclusion schools even though they are not excluded games???

I think it goes by win percentage not the standings on masshssports.  If you click on each team on the site it will give you their win percentage. That being the case some of your teams will be up or down in the standings.

Paycheck again... so rude.. Woburn was the 22nd seed last year and again were in the finals against St. Mary's... how does that work for ya!  Maybe you should go and earn a Paycheck somewhere cause your insight and insults just don't cut it.

Why scout low seeds...this is why

Woburn with its historically strong program stuggled a bit last year to replace the departed seniors, leading to a low ranking record.  BUT, they got their act together by February and were playing well entering the tournement, thus their trip thru the ranks all the way to the garden.

Tradition and experience with being in the playoffs counts for a lot and can elevate teams this time of year.  You need to look beyond the simple summary record and see how that team is playing at the end of the season.

Hmmmm....Green Bay Packers, sixth seed in a six seed NFC tournement...they seemed to do better then their seeding would indicate.  And then won the whole shebang in Dallas...

Saw a some of this game, thought AHS ran out of gas towards the end. Guess they spent themselves on the "W" the night before, bouncing their town rivals(AC) out of the tourney! Watched that one, big crowd and a battle on the ice right down to the last second!

Eh, it happens.  Goalie and defensmen playing with knee injuries, handful of JV girls getting some Varsity playing time in a game that didn't matter, a couple battling some sinus infections/bad colds. One thing is for certain, better for that game to have happened in that situation than next week. Hopefully its all out of their system now and those that are sick can finish getting healthy and those that are injured can get themselves back to 100%. For a public team that has 3 players who consider hockey their 1st sport and play more than just the h.s. season that is playing against teams that have half to 3/4 of their rosters filled with club players they are doing better than many thought they would this year. Granted, they made the tourny by the skin of their teeth, but again, it was believed by pretty much everyone that this would be the first year in 6 years that they wouldn't qualify and they did it while not replacing what they lost up front and making their schedule a tougher one with the additions of A/B, A/C, Winchester and Reading. I think those girls have a lot to be proud of for what they've managed to accomplish to this point.
