Is it even fun playing the likes of Blue Hills, Old Colony, and Tri-County all year?

did you see the Westport vs. Tri County score earlier this season? And you thought the 15-1 drubbing was bad....lol

Westport scheduled to fairly tough opponents to close out the season, which will help them in the tourney. They actually fared very well against them. Falmouth and Bp. Stang.

    Re: MIAA Tourney Scores

Somerville at Medford - Somerville takes this game despite being in Medford. They are on a mission. Scarpelli has them playing the best at the most important time of the year.

Brookline at Lincoln-Sudbury-L-S needs to play much better than they did last game against Andover. Brookline will crush them if they aren't carefully, although L-S is still the favorite. However, these are the teams Brookline has failed to beat to get over that hump. Look for L-S win by a goal, maybe by OT or SO.

Framingham at Lexington-great run for Framingham, but probably ends here. Too much talent for Lexington.

Newton N. at Acton-Boxboro-AB the favorite, at home and with more rest. It appears NN is playing very defensively. Note to AB: May want to take those soccer vids down off youtube, the ones with all your set plays of goals you've scored this season...lol

Framingham kids probably aren't even home yet from their 6:00 game in Peabody and they play 16 hours from now in Lexington.   Needless to say, they have their work cut out for them.

What a disgrace to have these teams play back to back and others have a day rest. The MIAA are criminal in robbing these kids of their dreams.  Will the super bowl games take place the day after their one day playoff.  MIAA are a bunch of jerks for allowing this to happen.  BTW  great match-ups in the Quarter-final games despite the MIAA making a mockery of this years tournament.  Lexington vs. Framingham; LS vs. Brookline, NB vs. BC High, Weymouth vs. Brockton

    Re: MIAA Tourney Scores

Westport can't help the league they are in. They have actually tried to schedule non-league opponents but have found it hard to do so. Not many are eager to play a D3 team from that league. No upside in doing so, only downside from losing. They got no respect last year and lost to Cardinal Spellman by one in the final.  Their defense this year was totally new from the year before. All inexperienced kids, some which had never played soccer before. They have only gotten stronger as the year has gone on.
They are hoping for another rematch this year. D-S/Nantucket winner (if they ever play) will be a tough match-up but the Wildcats will hold their own.

Yep, think I'm ready to give the conference title back over to the Bay State so far. Brookline and Newton N. identically took out the DCL team's by a 1-0 score in PK's.

Still 4 Bay State Carey teams still alive. Can't really fault Framingham's loss to one of the top 2 or 3 in EMass. Next year they should be much stronger. Great season by Framingham!

Brookline wins on PKs after a scoreless draw. LS gave everything it had and Brookline was equal to the task. In the end, LS ran out of gas, failing to put three pks on net and the Brookline goalie saving one. The LS goalie did his part making two saves. Congratulations to Brookline.

Sorry to see that Framingham lost.   Glad to see the BSC still serving notice.  Would love to see a Brookline Weymouth EMass final.  Good luck to all you Carey boys still playing.

    Winchester 1 - Belmont 0

Winchester missed countless opportunities to score. A few breakaways for Belmont were the only chances they had.

    Somerville 3 - Medford 2
Somerville hold's on late to pull out a clutch win. Homero Morais scored off a beautiful through ball in the 28th minute on a breakaway, and Somerville struck again 10 minutes later, making it 2-0 at the half. Medford came out strong in the second half, getting a goal 20 minutes in. Somerville again responded with another goal by Morais with 8 to go. Medford scored from a shot 16 yards out with 6 minutes remaining, but it was not enough.

    Re: MIAA Tourney Scores

Guess who's in the semi's? Braintree? Last place team in BSL. I used to take the train into Braintree and watch them play a couple of times. They had a nice field there, in fact used to hold the south sectionals there for at least a few years. However, not that they were that bad, but the Bay State teams on their side would beat up on them a bit. 5-11 was a good season for them.

Funny, I know one year Braintree finished 7-9-0. They lost to Framingham, Needham, Weymouth and Newton North twice. They swept the other side to go 6-0. All they had to do was beat Brookline twice who was actually at the bottom of the division that year. Usually before Brookline emerged ten years ago, Brookline and Braintree would always battle out for last place. Actually Framingham wasn't that great either, they were usually behind Weymouth, Newton North and Needham.

    Re: MIAA Tourney Scores

    Canton 1 Hop 0

Hop had run of game about 65 % of game even about 20% canton 15%
Canton scored on hard working goal where one man outworked 3
late in second half.  Canton then put 9 men behind ball, ref missed call in box but I guess he was not going to have game decided by PK.

That being said I saw Canton have 3 shots on net to 0 for Hop.  Hop went over the net about 4 times and missed net about 3.  tough to say you deserve game when you can't put the ball on net.  Hard fought game, regular amount of missed called with only two refs.  I thought goalie from Hop carried ball over line and ref was out of position but tough to be in position with only two.

    Re: MIAA Tourney Scores

Was at the Braintree-Mansfield game and this was a very favorible matchup for Braintree.  Braintree's greatest strength is their athletisism and Mansfield couldn't match them, especially in the middle of the field.  Mansfield really couldn't create many quality chances and were relegated to taking long distance shots.  Braintree had a couple of great opportunities in the opening 10 minutes but couldn't convert.  Mansfield goalie made a couple of great saves.  From then on the only time anyone created any chances were off of Pat Ellis's flip throw for Braintree, and with about 11 minutes left he launched one from about 35-40 yards into the box and Braintree played a loose ball through to send a player in one-on-one with the goalie and he finished well.

I'll be interested to see how Braintree does against New Bedford.  In years past New Bedford hasn't been as good as their record indicated but here they are in the sectional semis so maybe they've put it together this year.

How about an old time classic Weymouth vs. Silver Lake? Who had Silver Lake going this far? Wonder if Johnson is helping out with the team at all?

Johnson is coaching the girls team who beat #1 in the state, Whitman-Hanson.

SL's goalie is pretty good, but I still think Weymouth will beat them easily.

I knew that much, just wondering if he's spending a few extra minutes off to the side with the boy's team, if that's even allowed.

Yeah, Weymouth should win by no less than 2 goals and that's probably if they play poorly. I don't see Silver Lake competing with Weymouth either, but it would've been good to catch the game for old times sake.
