...it appears as if not many of our posters follow the sport.
I find it increasingly hard to follow NASCAR anymore because:
A. Commercials cut into the race way too much. Unlike football which has numerous stoppages in play, NASCAR simply doesn't have "stoppages" , even yellow flag laps count, and pit strategy is a big part of winning. The rare occurance of a red flag would be the exception.
B. The sport is totally dominated by the richest team. Hendricks motorsports has become worse than the Yankees at buying their way to victory lane. The competion simply can't match the fact their biggest sponsors Lowe's and Dupont are pouring money into the top Hendricks teams and Lowe's especially has to be loving this.
C. The last straw came when the media ( especially the network televising the race) wants to promote Danica Patrick as the Bobby Orr of NASCAR, when she is not even able to fininsh ih the top 20 most races. I don't deny women the chance, but Janet Guthrie tried this routine ( with a little more success) but was barely talked about , because , you know, ( what they won't say, but it's true)....with women racers it's about marketing, not wins. Danica Patrick is a heck of a lot more attractive than Janet Guthrie, but Janet never got her chance with a top team.
