    2007 and 2011 Tom Brady

Everyone in Boston is suddenly criticizing receivers which Tom Brady had during his career.

The same people are forgetting in 2007 Tom Brady had 50TDs which is NFL record and this year he had passed Dan Mariono single season passing yards by having these same receivers.

Now when Tom Brady fails to win both SBs, it is suddenly receivers fault.Where was this talk during the season when he was running up scores on teams and putting up huge stats.

During the season everybody was praising Pats for reinventing the wheel by creating mismatches using TEs, now the same poeple are dissing the receivers by saying there is no deep threat.

What is common between both 2007 and 2011 Pats high scoring offenses which had come up so small in crunch games Tom Brady.

Tom has never lost a SB by more than 4 points and also never won a SB more than 3 points. This stat alone proves all the 5 SBs which he played were very close games which could have gone either way first three went in favor of Tom Brady and Pats.

The difference between the three SB winning teams and the last two were the defense. In the first three the defense made key plays and took the ball away. These last two times they didn't. Back then the squad was money in the 4th quarter. Now they cannot stop anyone. Four years ago the O-line had no answer to the Giants pass rush. This time it was the receivers making costly drops in the 4th. But both times the defense could have bailed them out with a big play. The first three teams would make that play, these last two couldn't. All the games were close. And in a close game you need a clutch defense. Without those late drops Tom's passer rating would have been over 100, and he would have been the MVP. But a Willie McGinest type play on those last drives would have sealed the deal. Instead we get Tyree and Manningham. IMO, that is the key difference between them winning it and losing it.

So you mean Tom can never win a tough game by putting team on his shoulders. He needs someone to bail him out and he was bailed out by defense in first three SBs and last two he never got that help from his defense.

Defense is a key component.  But don't forget...football is a complimentary game.  When your offense sputters, takes safeties in the endzone, dropping passes, etc...it takes its toll.  Our defense for years hasn't been able to get off the field on third down...keeping our offensive guys off the field, putting more pressure on Brady when he does have the ball.  Again...one side has a direct effect on the other.

Our defense wasn't impressive in 2007 either...the offense hid it pretty well all year and they only had to play a one dimensional type of defense.  We haven't had a close down defense since Crennel left.  Pees couldn't get guys to close out games (2006 AFC championship, 2007 SB, etc) and we're still seeing it.  Be it coaching, quality of players, etc...it's just not happening.

I think our defense made some strides this year, but to live and die by getting turnovers...is a dangerous way to go.  The easiest way to get a "turnover" is by making them punt after three plays...or six.

It's going to be interesting how BB puts next year together.  I think they've got some pieces there.

How come some clowns here  make disparaging remarks about Peyton Manning saying he is chokers and blah blah. Before 2006  Peyton was villified here , he never wins except have some gaudy stats which amount to nothing.

Since Tom started gathering gaudy stats he has never won Sb either.Tom at least has team and coach which could be more than decent  even without him.

That is correct.  Had they recover the fumble that was on the 10 yards line, Patriots would have score a touchdown easily.  That would be a 19 points ball game.  Who know that the Patriots would just run and run to run off the clock for the rest of the game.  Instead, Patriots threw the ball where half of these passes were incomplete at the same time it stopped the clock.  That was why the Giants had alot of time to make a comeback at the end.

So therefore, both of these losses, the defense failed to get any turnover!!!

Simply because Manning is on a rival team. Look to see how many local fans criticize Koby Bryant who is certainly one of the best all time in the NBA.

Whether we like it or not Indy has been a very successful team for the years Manning has been there and yet now it seems when reading some locals who comment, that the ownership of this team are incompetent. If that were the case then why has this team been so competitive for so many years.

I'm sure if you read out of town papers many say the same thing about Brady that they have about Manning. If the pass to Welker were on target and the catch was made Brady would have gone off with the MVP, but the pass was over thrown, Welker couldn't come up with it and Brady according to many writing in is now the Goat.

you can be fan/reporter/columinst/talkshowhost of the team without degrading other team's great players.

The same thing is happening in NY now people are going gaga over Eli Manning and saying he is greater than Peyton forgetting the fact Eli has great defense around him which Peyton never had and still Indy has been in playoffs every year and sole reason for that was Peyton.

Peyton was the team and it was proved this year.

Tom Brady has carried this team for last few years and when he is not perfect this team rarely wins that what happens when team is built around one player.

Great players like Tom and Peyton can lead their teams into playoffs ever year on their own which they have done for most part but to win it all you need a team.

Yeah Crusty I remember when I was a kid and the Bruins traded Ranford for Moog and gave up a first round pick, and I told my mom I am never watching the bruins again if their that stupid. And of course Edmonton gets rid of Gretzy plays Bruins and win cup because of Ranford. You can see this Brady horsesh-it a mile away unless you belong to a union, or a liberal or ride the short bus.Although to be fair under Obama care I think that riding the short bus is called THE CHAIR OF TRIUMPH.
