2011 NFL draft which positions are the strongest

I was wondering what you guys thought were the deepest and strongest positions going into this draft.  This might help us gauge where we need to take a player earlier in the draft due to the dropoff of players at each position.

according to http://cdsdraft.com/rankings/top-100/ top 100 players i have compiled each position into a group and averaged the top 5 rankings of each position in order to rank this draft by strength of position.

in the top 100 there are: 15 DE, 14 DT, 12 HB/FB/RB, 11WR,  10 OT, 9 CB, 8 LB, 6 QB, 6 S, 4 OG, 3 TE,  2 C

so by shear number DE is the deepest position in this draft with C being the weakest.

however if i average the top 5 players at each position ranking according to this site:
position     average of top 5                         previous ranking
1.   DE                7 (1,2,8,10,14) ---------------------1
2.   QB            15.2 (5,7,15,18,31)-------------------8
3.   DT             20.8 (9,19,22,25,29)------------------3
4.   WR              28 (4,6,41,44,45)--------------------4
5.   OT             29.4 (12,13,16,37,69)-----------------5
6.   CB             31.8 (3,11,34,50,61)------------------6
7.   LB                41 (17,36,40,55,57)------------------7
8.   FB/HB/RB 45 (24,38,39,52,72)------------------3
9.   S               45.6 (26, 43,46,48,65)-----------------9
10. OG             72.8 (32,68,76,87, (101+))-----------10
11. TE              73.6 (21,67,78 (101+, 101+))---------11
12. C                  76 (30,47,101+, 101+,101+)---------12

Further question in your top 100 breakdown.  When u say a DE, is that a 4-3 DE or a 3-4 DE?  They are very different as u know. As well as some of the smaller DE's coming out can and will be OLBs in the NFL.

I just listed the players who were listed as a DE according to their NFL draft registration.  there is no breakdown  as to which scheme players best fit into. for instance some players who are listed as a DE could also play OLB in the 3-4  and vice versa. some players listed as OT could also play guard, some players listed as a C could also play gurad.  i simply crunched the numbers based on what this site lists players at. but that is a very valid point.

There's a major flaw in that G's, C's, and TE's and not nearly as valued as QB's, DL, WR's so inherently they would be ranked lower in the top 100 but that doesn't mean the depth is any worse. More over since DL and skilled positions are more highly regarded even skilled position players that would be considered as rotational or backup players can be ranked higher then potential starters at different positions.

yes but it just so happens that these areas are weaker than past years.  while there may be no Suh in this years draft there happen to be alot of verytalented DE/DT's

Cornerback looks pretty strong.  I also see a decent DE crop.  OLB is rising.  WR sonds strong.

I wouldn't just go off the top 100, though - try to project how many will be successful in the NFL.  I see the DE's, CB's, and WR's making an immediate impact.  I don't see any stud linemen other than Pouncey that get me excited, although someone will steal one of the two 6-9 monsters in the second or third round.  QB's are always a crapshoot, no matter how highly touted they are.

Someone gave Andrew Luck some bad advice - when there's no rookie wage scale this year and there is one when he enters next year, he's going to feel mighty stupid, especially because projected top picks that return for another season usually drop 10 spots in the draft as everyone guns for them.

the top 100 includes the first 3 rounds or 6 of our 9 picks.  plus i have yet to find a top 200 prospects list.
