Okay, cupboards are full.  Every new pick means someone is getting cut.  I actually love the Mallett pick at that spot.  The kid has the best arm, most NFl ready QB if they can keep him in line.  He's future trade bait or maybe starter.

[QUOTE]Well. This draft makes zero sense to me outside of Vereen and Solder.  The two hugest team needs are completely unaddressed.

DL isn't a huge need. OLB is a major need, though.

Leonard Hankerson would have looked nice at 74, Sam Acho would have been nice.

We can still hope for Romieus.

[QUOTE]The problem I have with the Pats 2011 draft is EVERYONE OF THESE PLAYERS - EXCEPT SOLDER - WAS TAKEN 1-2 ROUNDS BEFORE THEY HAD TO ... I JUST DON'T GET WHERE BILL IS COMING FROM THIS YEAR. LAST YEAR WAS AWESOME, THIS YEAR IS A JOKE. SANCHEZ CAN SIT BACK AND RELAX IN THE POCKET FOR 10 SECONDS EVERY PLAY ... AGAIN.

I honestly could go down a massive list of players I would have picked over Mallet.
I trust BB but this draft isn't making too much sense to me right now. 2 RB's when we already have two young RB's in BJGE and Woody. Mallet when Brady is still going to be around for a long time, no OLB's drafted and we are down to our last 3rd rounder.

Considering the Pats only dress 3 RBs on gameday, would someone please justify the drafting of two?

I have been talking about Ridley, gave a comparison to Ingram earlier today.

He ran same 40 time but had a much better shuttle and 3 cone 15tds 1100 yards.

I had OLb and WR as the two biggest needs after OL. I knew they needed RB from a roster point, they really only have two to count on ... but I don't feel very good about the group of Branch, Tate, Price outside.

    Maybe they feel better.

They can't be serious about feeling good about the Cunningham, TBC, Nink trifecta ... even bad QBs are sipping tea back there.

Mallett is just like a new car. He just lost half his value. The Pats couldn't get a sixth round pick for him right now.

He runs forward. Average size speed ratio, but above average quickness for that size imo. He can turn the corner for his size, but is a straight ahead runner that BB likes. He doesn't really have great moves, but can be really shifty with his body and breaks arm tackles easily. He can catch (though he had a big drop two seasons ago against Bama) but won't go outside of his frame like a 3rd down back. Watched him for years, in person, see him on campus. He's a player.

    Solder - Bookend LT
    Ras-Dowling - Big Physical Corner
Shane Vereen - Strong fast, can catch.
Stevan Ridley - Big power back
Ryan Mallett - good pro prospect QB, off the field issues abound.

Well, we drafted two TE's last year, worked out very nicelly. We drafted two RB's this year, will we have similar results? Will BB go with a triple threat at RB? BJGE and Vereen splitting carries, Ridley in short yardage and Woodhead on third down? I like it.

Re: 2011 Patriots Draft Options ***IT'S GO TIME!***

I got it figured out. Here's the logic Mallett is going to take opposing players out for the night before the game and get them all drunk and drugged up. Then when they actually play they will be confused to all hell when NE rushes Wilfork and has Bodden, Ras, McCourty, Meri, Chung, Sanders, Butler, Arrington, Mayo, and Guyton on the field. They will be so confused and high that they will run backwards and commit a ton of safeties.

Yeah Vereen improves the running game but by how much compared to any number of FA's out there. Ras not sure how he improves the team. Solder will be the same as Light starting out which isn't a bad thing but doesn't improve the team from last year. It seems this team is staying the same while losing Neal and potentially Mankins too?

Forget the 09 draft this might turn out to be the 08 draft

OK.  I'm really trying to remain calm.  In retrospect, the '10 draft was great.  But, is BB hoping to move Mallett?  He won't play in NE for 3 years.   BB doesn't give snaps to backups - only kneel-downs.
Why 2 RBs???  Even in round 3 you should have the expectation that these guys can make the team.  So Faulk is gone, Morris is gone, Taylor is gone.  I'll miss Faulk.

In case anyone hasn't noticed, here's a news flash.  We haven't had a running game since Corey Dillon, our last Super Bowl.  We built the TE position last year now the RB position, can you say ball control.........oh and by the way this has become an offense driven league.

I don't remember anyone fearing Green Bay's Defense last Year and that's the Super Bowl Champion Packers.
