[QUOTE]I for one am not surprised by our going mostly offense with our first 5 picks.  I would have preferred to have landed a stud C/OG by now and waited on a big RB until later but I was pretty vocal that I didn't think we'd do much with the front 7 of the D.  Our young D will improve with another year of experience as they started to show late in the season.  Getting Bodden and Warren back and the addition of Dowling should really help us become a top half ranked defense next year. Looking ahead for today I could see us targeting the below positions/players. Center Kristofer O'Dowd Brandon Fusco Tim Barnes Guard Stephen Schilling Clint Boling Andrew Jackson Keith Williams Mike Person Caleb Schlauderaff Wide Receiver Greg Salas Tandon Doss Danarius Moore Niles Paul Jeremy Kerley Terrence Toliver Ronald Johnson Dane Sanzenbacher Ricardo Lockette Jeff Maehl Outside LB KJ Wright Mark Herzlich Markell Carter Pierre Allen Greg Romeus Ugo Chinasa Ricky Elmore Markus White

Most of those cats won't be there. NE traded out of the 4th round altogether ... so looks like random scrubs ... a basketweaving major who wants to be an NFL Guard, and perhaps a figure skater who is a promising special teams backup?

Pats should trade up for Romeus (both 5ths), draft Herzlich in the 6th and IR/PUP both of them next year.  No one they draft today will make the team in 2011.  Should set us up well for 2012.

One interesting thing BB said was that he didn't make the Oakland trade until he picked up that extra 5. That could indicate an intent to move up into the 4th round with those two 5th round picks. Or it could mean the Pats plan to move it for a 4th for next years draft.

I don't know. I think Indy drafted some players too man. I hope I am wrong, but those kids they picked up answer their question marks. I see NE middle of the pack in that list.

Vereen and Ridley can add a lot. Between them and Woody I could see BJGE losing a lot of touches. Solder will be awesome, and NE can sleep well knowing TB won't be running for his life.

Dowling should be very good .... but he is going to have to cover for ages.  LOL.

I like that idea, take one of those LBs and put them on the shelf for a year.  Zb, I do think a lot of the guys I named will be there.  The question is, we are right at 53 players but I can see several of the below perhaps getting cut or traded once the lock out is lifted depending on who we draft today.  At least 1 of the 4 picks (my bet is an OL type) will make the team plus there is always an UDFA who makes the team.

    Took out players already taken:
there are still some OGs who can come in and open some holes for those new tires they got.  I like Byron Stingily, at OG he can start at OT he needs to go through school of Scar.  Andrew Jackson, another guy who is often compared to Mankins but not as gifted.  Plays mean and tough like Mankins.
    How about Brandon Fusco.

    Damn there goes Gates

    OL
    Andrew Jackson OG
    Stephen Schilling OG
    Brandon Fusco C/OG
    DeMarcus Love OG
    Derek Newton RT/OG
Byron Stingily OT/OG - Very raw, can play both OT and OG spots.
    Ray Dominquez OG
    Ryan Bartholomew C
Mike Person OG (played both OT spots for MOntana State, plays mean will need to move to OG and get stronger, good punch)

    DL
    Cedric Thornton DE/DT (6'3" 309 10 sacks 2009 only 1.5 2010)
Lawrence Guy DE (in the 5th, a kid with starting potential)
    David Carter DE
    Lazarius Levington DE
Zach Clayton DT (inside rusher, 6'2" 299)

    LBs
    Ugo Chinasa OLB
Greg Romeus OLB (they will need a 4th for him)
Cliff Matthews OLB (some thought he was a 1st rounder before the season began, he didn't play to that level)
    Ricky Elmore OLB/DE
    Mark Herzlich OLB
Doug Hogue OLB only 235 lbs, situation pass rusher
    Markell Carter OLB
Bruce Miller OLB (6'1" 254 lbs at UCF racked up 35 sacks)
Gabe Miller OLB (converted TE, 2 years DE experience very quick off the snap. 6'3" 260 4.63 40)

    WR/TE
    Ronald Johnson WR
    Julius Thomas TE
Aldrick Robinson WR (deep threat but only 175lbs, 4.35 40 17 reps not weak)

    DB
Mark LeGree FS (one of my favorite players in this draft) 22 Ints at Appalachian State, guy has a nose for finding the ball.
    Byron Maxwell CB/S
    Shiloh Keo SS
Justin Rogers CB (bring him in let him compete for the slot job, great cover CB at Richmond)

I'm starting to pull for Marcus Cannon at 138.  I know he's massive and not as quick as BB likes but at RG he would be a beast and I think with all the DL going we need to get bigger on the OL.

Thank you...Sleeping things over and seeing that in the morning is really helping me now.

    What I saw there...
This video did not show footage of him finding himself in open field because Ds did a poor job of closing the holes - as most RB videos would show. This video was about a guy who finds the holes before they open up; subtle cuts that compliment his powerful N-S running style really well; 3-5 yards after contact.

I see him as a bigger more powerful, perhaps more complete back than Faulk. If the Youtube is any indication, he's going to be our 3-down back and Vereen/Woodhead tak on Faulk's role. I think the Pats jus got itself a RB crew now that would allow them to run the ball all day as in literally). This could really help the Pats win even those ugly grinders. Most of all, it makes TB much more deadly.

Question for ZB (because you declare youself as an LSU fan)...
He looks really impressive in the Youtube. Does he consistently play like that? Not that I am bipolar, but I can be right now if you say YES.

Next question is whether we have an OL who can open up the holes where and whe he anticipates them to be.

I'd line him up at RG and let him bulldoze people.  This is a mid 2nd round talent that fell to the 5th due to some medical, not injury concerns.

Cannon is 6-5, 358 but with 5.26 speed.  This kid can move.  What a steal in a HUGE need position.  This pick makes the draft for me!!!

    HIGH 5s EVERYONE!!

    Height & Weight:

    6'6 - 350 lbs.

Ranked #80 on our Top 100 Prospects Board

2011 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

    Marcus Cannon, OT, TCU

When any college football fan thinks about TCU, it is their defense that comes to mind first…and rightfully so. However, the Horned Frogs did not go to a BCS Bowl in 2009 and are eyeing another one this season just because of their defense. The offense may not be dynamic, but they are smart and control the game. In order to do that, TCU relies very heavily on their offensive line and nobody in purple is more important to the offensive line than tackle Marcus Cannon.

After serving as a backup as a redshirt freshman in 2007, Cannon stepped into a starting role at right tackle in 2008. He was often a very dominant player and saved his best outing for the Poinsettia Bowl against Boise State. By 2009, Cannon took over just about every game; he did not allow a sack all season and went up against some very good defensive ends. Cannon made the move to left tackle in 2010 and he could play either spot at the next level.

At 6-6 and 350 pounds, Cannon is a big lineman who has enough athleticism to move his feet and stop the more nimble ends. Cannon could sneak into the first round, but he is more likely a second or third round selection at this point. Yet, for a second or third rounder, he is a very polished blocker who has the ability to immediately help any NFL team.
