Carry on MB Your threads make college football more interesting to watch for me. My son and I pick out a couple guys and follow them thru the season and see where they go on draft day. He was crushed when Tom Zibikowski *sp* went to the ravens lol. -

really, so drafting vereen in the 2nd round, and ridley in the 3rd round means nothing? How many times have you heard of any team taking 2 RB's early in a draft taking a RB very early in the following draft, smart guy?! -

I've been looking forward to this MB. Thanks!
Last year you kicked it off by calling out a specific player (Ryan Kerrigan) for us to watch. You thought he might be a Patriot come draft day. This year you are kicking it off with a list of potentials. Like the list btw. Do you have 1 player in mind that you are high on at this point that you feel would make the consumate Patriot given our need/potential picking order?
Also, given our desire to run more 4 man lines, 3 backers, do you think this carries over to next year, and how does it affect our draft strategy & FA? I see you have listed a few "smaller" LB's, not traditional 3-4 guys, guys like Luke, Kenny Tate, etc
Of course this has ripples on the DL as well. Do we draft more 4-3 type ends? Guys in the 6'3-6'5" range, 260-275 or so...
One last point...I see you excluded Justin Blackmon on the WR list. Is this because he's not a Patriot type pick, or he just goes too high in the draft? I for one think he is the premier WR coming out this year. -

Agree with Bloodmoon. Brewster and Jones should be on the radar. FS also a concern. Meriweather will want a big deal he's not going to get. Could this be the draft where BB drafts an OLB in the first two rounds ? Also like the potential WR class in 2012. -

I can't pick a BB selection one day ahead of the draft, much less know if that pick will even be there, or if it has moved farther down in the first or second round, has been traded up from the third round, has been traded into 2013 or has been traded for some other team's malcontent player.
The main reason to write on this thread is that the fourth game is mostly garbage. You can't tell anything by it, except that the Giants are really tired after Monday night's Irene game. -

Guys,
I'm not the moderator of this post, MB is, however, we have established some decorum here in terms of how we handle differences in opinion. This post is different than any others, as we do not take kindly to calling folk's posts "dumb" or "stupid". This is a post designed for those interested in the draft, Pats and college football to discuss potential Patriot targets heading up to the 2012 draft. Lets keep this board respectful please.
Thanks. -

In Response to Re: ***2012 Patriots Draft Thread***:It was a dumb post because you said we should not of drafted a position of need (NOW) this year because we should of waited for a guy who could blow out his knee or not even be available when we draft next year. To answer your 2nd post. When 3 of our RB from last year were all on the wrong side of 30 Faulk, Morris and Taylor with Faulk going on IR and Taylor spending most of the season hurt which forced us to overutilize an undersized 3rd down specialist type back (Woodhead) and an OK back in BJGE. Then the answer for me and BB is YES to drafting 2 RB weather anyone has done it before or not.

you read way too much into what I said. I wanted BB to draft a RB last year, I didnt think he would draft 2 of them that early, thought he would get early one and maybe 1 later on (hoped for helu). BUT going 2 that early means not getting 1 before round 5 unless someone gets a really bad injury. -

Philski,
Glad to help.
I'm with you on Zbikowski. Being a huge ND fan, I too was hoping to see him land in NE. He was a rugged, leader of the defense type out in South Bend, came up with some big plays, thought he'd be an option for BB in Rd 3. Turns out, he was taken by Baltimore in Rd 3 of that draft (2008; hindsight shows he would've been a better option than Crable/O'Connell) and has developed into a back up safety/solid ST type player. -

I'm sure that topic will come up once or twice during the season, ha, can't blame fans though.
This thread is used as a forum to dicuss draft options during the college season, allows for some realtime feedback and debate on a player. -

ham,
Luck was an intended omission, I don't see any chance of him being in range for NE. My list is for players that realistically (atleast at this point) have a shot at landing here. -

PL,
Welcome back, glad to be back at it!
It's early, but at this point, the player I have in mind is Manti Te'o, the LB from ND. He was a big time recruit out of HS and has lived up to the reputation. He's an absolute animal on the field, looks like a 3 down player, has a good size speed ratio, great instincts and loves to blow up ball carriers; secure tackler. I also see him having the athleticism and versatility to play inside in a 34 (which he did last year and will do again this season) as well as kick outside in 43 sets.
Decided to add Blackmon and Jeffrey for now as WR looks to be a potential need moving forward though I don't see either landing in Foxboro when all is said and done, anything is possible though. -

unless the saints somehow become the leagues worst team we have no shot at luck, he will go #1 overall. no point in mentioning him.
