    In response to PatsLifer's comment:

Agree MB...really like Bailey. Do you have he and swope going same round? I would take bailey over Swope personally. It's amazing to think how productive he was with Austin in that offense.

Unless the pats can get an extra pick, I don't see them doubling down at WR. If they retain the picks they have , I could see them bringing back Lloyd or trading 3 for sanders, or grabbing a WR that gets released or FA still available...I guess there are many options.

They might just bring back Lloyd at a cheaper price.  Nobody else seems to want him either.  I'm trying to figure out what the Pats plan to do with all that cap space.  Is there a player out there they feel will be cut as a cap causalty that they will go after, someone nobody has thought of yet?  Are they letting other teams blow their cap waiting to pounce?  Most teams have done their cutting already and a lot of teams have spent their money.

I don't think they are going after Sanders anymore.  If they were, they would have made an offer by now.  They were probably just kicking the tires or seeing what the market was like out there.  It wouldn't really make too much sense to give up pick 91 and hand over a big contract when they can probably get Edelman back for shorter money and no draft pick lost.

I like Bailey too but to me we need outside help.  I actually can see us doubling down at WR depending if we make any more offseason moves at other positions.  I wouldn't mind an OL type with 59 or 91.  Our two starting guards are in their 30s with both wearing down a little.  If we don't get Vollmer back, we are going to be really thin at OT.  I like the idea of Kyle Long or Menelik Watson if going OT, Long can play OG too, or Brian Schwenke if going C/OG at 59.

    Patriots take Matt Elam.

Jets will take Tavon Austin. Rex Ryan has been envious of the Pats success at the slot position for far too long.  I know he is a D guy but he won't pass this up.  What better way to help the offense then by selecting Austin.  Great returner too!

    Bills take Gino Smith.

    Just my predictions.

TFB12, what if NE takes Austin uses DA more to the outside and either double dips with another 3rd round WR or FA WR type.

..... I know Austin will be gone by then, they could still go with a one later maybe.  You never know.

First of all, I don't think Austin makes it out of the top 10, top 15 at the most.  But if he fell all the way down to the Pats then I would love the Pats to take him.  THe dude is a playmaker!!! I guess your only option at that point would be to move Amendola outside because Austin would own the inside.  The Pats would still need to get a mid to deep threat receiver.  But we won't have to worry about this though because Austin will be long gone before the Pats pick.

Re: ***2013 Patriots Draft Thread V2***

I agree on Austin gone for sure.  NE could opt for a Marquise Goodwin, Josh Boyce or Ace Sanders Lower round options.  Depending if NE trades back, they could go for two WRs.  This also depends on FA.

Also agree with you on a number 1. This might be in round 1 with Kenan Allen or Rd 2 with Patton or Rodgers.

Donald Jones is not a number 1 but at 6"1 214, 4.46 forty, complements at #3 receiver.

If they bring LLoyd back that would be very strong receiving corp.

I don't think BB really cares about his debacle.  I almost think BB looks more at players who fall in the draft due to injuries or personal issues.  Take Dennard for example.  Here's a kid who was seen as a 2nd rounder before his incident and BB was able to get him in the 7th.  TB was a great player in college, but didn't get the chance to show his talents.  Same with Cassel who was a back up for 4 years.

So a player like Te'o is not much of a long shot in my book.  The thing about him that scares me most is the Bowl game against Bama where he got run over.

I'm telling you, if BB takes Te'o at #29, everyone will be saying how much of a genius BB is.

Boy if that list is on the board, I think I would take Fluker given the current situation as it stands today.  Fluker could actually be an upgrade to Vollmer and come a lot cheaper meaning we can spend our cap on other positions.

thats not much of a conern?

if not for the big issue re his mental/emotional challenges, his inability to perform against a better caliber of player and team should be flag enough to drop him to rd 3 on my board.

According to our mock draft, some of the names available at #29 were-

    DE Cornellius Carradine

    DE Datone Jones

    DE Damontre Moore

    OT D.J. Fluker

    LB Manti Te'o

    SS Matt Elam

    CB Jonathan Banks

    DE Alex Okafor

Not a bad list of players to choose from.

Boy if that list is on the board, I think I would take Fluker given the current situation as it stands today.  Fluker could actually be an upgrade to Vollmer and come a lot cheaper meaning we can spend our cap on other positions.

we do need o line improvement seriously. but not more than a pass rush, cb coverage all year, and big wideout threat

Yes, my suggestion was to sign one of the F/A pass rushers.  My first choice would be Abraham on a cheap one year deal or Dummervil on perhaps a 3 year deal then we draft Fluker from that list and let Vollmer walk.  Vollmer's back worries me and that is perhaps why he isn't signed yet. We then draft Hunt if he's still hanging around at 59 and a WR at 91.  If Hunt is gone we double down on WR at 59 and 91.

I view OTs as a very important position, moreso than DE especially considering we do have our leading pass rusher in Ninkovich opposite Jones right now.  Sure I would love to upgrade him and Abraham would do that for a year.  Fluker is just an absolute beast in the run game and would be an excellent RT.  I bet you could play him at OG too.  He has the nasties that Cannon lacks.

Except for Te'o.  My biggest fear is that we will draft that bozo.

i have .001 belief we would pick him, and came out against it here after the debacle. and i her ya

I'm telling you, if BB takes Te'o at #29, everyone will be saying how much of a genius BB is.

thats not much of a conern?

if not for the big issue re his mental/emotional challenges, his inability to perform against a better caliber of player and team should be flag enough to drop him to rd 3 on my board.

Te'o played well for Notre Dame for four years and put up solid numbers.  The game against Bama could've been a fluke.  I didn't follow his career that closely to know for sure.

All I'm saying is that he was once a top 20 pick for sure and it seems like he's dropped to around the 40 range due to the debacle.

Is he a bozo for the debacle?  Yes.  Will BB avoid taking him at 29 because of it?  I really don't think so.
