as of now I am dreaming of Ealy, Bitonio, CJ and either rb Storm Johnson or Dakota Dozier in the 4th. And one of Blanchflower, AC Leanord or Joe Don Duncan in 5th or 6th. And my man Walt Aiken in the 7th.

I also want a trade the gets us another pick in the 2nd where we take Attaocho. I'd even give up our 1st in 2015 to get an extra RD two pick. Attaochu is that good. And an extra 3rd where we take DeQuan Jones or Kelcey Quarles.

I also want a young wife (who doesn't speak english) and a Harley.
Maybe some Brazilian twins.
Hell ya I'll take a pair of them if they are rich!

Dream draft for me:

1st rd (29) DE Kony Ealy

- 3 man weave at DE with Jones, Ealy and Nink is very solid and keeps all rested. Nink creates fumbles and is solid in the run. Jones can breakout and have 14-17 sacks with Ealy a legit 3 down 6-8 sack guy as a rookie.

2nd rd **TRADE** (38-52 range) TE Jace Amaro or Austin Sefarian Jenkins

- Pats are in win now mode and Amaro could slip. Trade a 2015 1st rd pick and our 6th/7th rd picks for a 2nd. Grab one of these guys to take the pressue of Gronk, who needs to come back 100% and not play 95% of the snaps and be the only option at TE.

2nd rd (62) C Travis Swanson or Weston Richberg

- Move Connolly back to C to justify his salary. Richburg (and Connolly obviously) can also play guard. Both Swanson and Richberg are leaders and 4 year starters who could start here right away but at the least would be the long-term center from '15 on. 6'3"-6'4" 300lb guys.

3rd rd **TRADE** (65) MLB Shayne Skov

- I want this guy to upgrade Fletcher and with Hightower taking a lot of Spikes role, give us the depth to play a 3-4 from time to time. Trade Mallett and Kenbrell Thompkins for the Texans 3rd and 5th rd picks.

3rd rd (93) QB A.J. McCarron

- With Mallett no longer Brady's apprentice, and TB having 2 more very good to great years in him and 2 more good years left (4 years under contract) the Pats bring in McCarron as the new understudy who could actually be the QB of the future and isn't a 2015 free agent like Mallett.

4th rd NT DaQuan Jones or DT Daniel McCullers

- McCullers is a raw but gigantic tackle and Jones is a bit smaller but more able to play right away. Both can learn behind Vince. Use our 6th rd pick to move up if possible and make sure we get one of these two guys as Vince is 33 and we'll need that legit (but hard to find) NT type for many years.

5th rd OLB Michael Sam

- Transition to the NFL as 1st openly gay player is easier with college teammate Ealy here and owner Robert Kraft publicly backing him. Had 11.5 sacks last year and can be used in tandem with the run stuffing/fumble creating Ninkovich at OLB when the team switches and plays a 3-4, Nink and Ealy play in tandem when the team is in a 4-3. Could be just a depth guy fighting for a job with Buchanon during camp though. Would look bad if we cut him....

6th rd (from Eagles)

- If not traded to move up in rd 4 add the best available guy. Some depth at safety would be useful.

That is my current list of how I hope things go.

Defense: DE, DT/NT, OLB, ILB (major front 7 help)

Offense: TE, C and QB
hey rame, as usual, we share much of the same brain, though this draft may be very optimistic. also i'd like a te who can block as well as pass catch so ive me the guy who does both well. peace

Def reaching for the stars on this one. I wouldn't mind this draft draft at all but I just don't see BB trading a 1st rounder next year and now that Hou has Fitz not sure if I see them trading for Mallett though it could happen.

If Brent Urban is there i would take a look at him as well. There are several others.

Nice post jj, in interest of space lol I cleared out.

I'm rooting for the kid, a dumb move costed him a wired shut jaw lol  He can play in space and his weaknesses IMO can be coached.  He has the tools, if he can get that strength back and get the weight back to where he's conforatable this could be one of nice stories next season.

I still think without counting on Bequette you have CJ, RN, Buchanan and still need some depth but don't know i spend the 1st round on one specially if Tuitt is there.

I'm almost all in on Tuitt being the pick right now.
I like Tuitt's skills, too, but aren't you concerned about the stress-fracture in his foot?  Kind of a scary injury for a 300+ pounder.  I'm on the fence about him now because of that.

We both have Brent Urban as our one of our top kids here. Gotta love his, size. I see him as a replacement for baquette, but a bit bigger in that he can play 3-4 DE and 4-3 DT. I hope bb lands this kid, I think he could be a decent rotational player and an upgrade over both bequette and vellano.

I noticed that Craig Loston is graded as a third day pick. What happened to him? If I rememebr correctly, back at the start of tehs eason, he was exepcted to be a top 3 S.

Is the drop justified? Or would he be an above average value in the fourth?

I think he looks like a third round pick at best. I saw Kirwan's mock draft too and let me say this..anyone that puts Eric Ebron outside the top 15 is out of touch with reality. In fact the mocks with him going in the top ten are mocks I think are more realistic.

[/QUOTE

I agree. IMO for teams that are looking to add weapons, one of best ways to raise passing output is a good receiving option down the middle -- perhaps better than getting a WR. I like Ebron over any WR not named Watkins. I just can't see Ebron getting past DET, BUF and NYJ.
Yeah I couldn't agree more - look at what these tightends are doing for NFL offenses - it's crazy to think what Ebron is going to add to a passing game. Is he perfect? No, but athletically he is pretty close, he moves like a receiver, but he's 6'4" 250 pounds. Pretty amazing talent...I don't think he lasts past 12. I like Jace Amaro too - he catches that football really well in tight spaces, his production is off the charts and physically he looks pretty gifted too. He's not in Ebron's league, but who is? I was surprised Amaro ran a poor 40 like he did, he looks much faster than that too me and he is athletic. I think Amaro would help this offense...Edelman, Boyce, Laffel, Gronk, a healthy Amendola, hopefully a healthy Dobson and Amaro are better than what we had last year.

I think Amaro is more scheme-specific. Given he has not played inline much in college, he will be a project there. His immediate impact will be as one who lines up at the slot. IMO, if the Pats pick up a TE in teh first two days, it should be one who is a direct backfill/backup to Gronk. Amaro is not that.

However, I have no doubt that Amaro will help greatly imrprove the O of whomever picks him up.

Alright guys now that we have an extra back of the 4th pick, who are your top 5 picks for that comp pick?

Mine are, in no order:

• Antone Exum S
• Cody Hoffman WR
• Tyler Larsen C
• Billy Turner OT
• Jerick McKinnon RB
Give me:

1a.  WR- Cody Latimer (I'd tak 1a-1c in Rd 3 as well, but they might last until Rd 4)

1b.  DL- Brent Urban

1c.  WR- Jared Abbrederis

2.  DL- Ed Stinson

3.  DB- Antone Exum

4.  OL- Chris Watt

5.  TE- Arthur Lynch
Mine, no particular order:

-Boskeo Lokombo  OLB

-Antone Exum  DB

-Charles Sims  RB

-Joe Jon Duncan  TE

-Hoffman or Latimer  WRs  (Like 'em both.)

*WR Bruce Ellington would be my #1 hope, but I'm sure he will be gone.
Do nto know lokumbo, read briefly that he is a great athlete though.would love us to grab a solid te though with this pick
You know I'm a big Joe Don Duncan fan. Think I might have been the first on the band wagon but that 4th might be a bit high for him. Then again you might not have a shot at him in the 6th so why not.
Yeah, late 4th might me a little early for Duncan, but at that point of the draft I don't worry quite as much about "value" as I would in the first 3 rounds.  Late 4th, on a comp pick, I say take the player who you love, regardless of how everyone else may view him.  I think Duncan is a guy who NE might have a lot of interest in, so if they like him that much, heck yeah they should grab him with that comp pick.  That being said, if a really good player has fallen to that point, then take the value and grab him, hoping Duncan might be there later.  Very circumstancial.

Re: ***2014 PATRIOTS DRAFT THREAD***

With the additional 4rth round pick the Patriots are in really good shape to get one MB's wish list top tens in each slot according to CBS sports. com player rankings. Even if they trade out of round one, because they will then have an extra pick in round two,and possibly rounds three and five. Depending on who is trying to get back in these could be exceptionally low picks per round, imagine Houston wanting to get back in to take a QBand they give you just their second and a fifth round pick and maybe a 6th BB would have ther back half of the draft in his control, also he would have back to back picks in round 4 and five, this draft is deeper than any draft we've seen in several years.

Re: ***2014 PATRIOTS DRAFT THREAD***

I'd like to see the Pats draft a DE, TE, and C in the first three rounds, LB capable of playing on early downs in round 4 and an OL, RB or LB as the 2nd fourth round pick.

DE:
Kony Ealy (r1)
Scott Crichton (r2)
Kareem Martin (r2)
Will Clarke (r3)

TE:
Eric Ebron (r1, one can dream)
Jace Amaro (r1/2)
Austin Sefarian-Jenkins (r2)
Troy Niklas (r2)
CJ Fiedorowicz (r3)

C:
Marcus Martin (r2)
Weston Richburg (r2/3)
Travis Swanson (r3)

Then it's hoping that one of Yawin Smallwood, Shayne Skov, and Christian Jones makes it to our 4th round pick.

Re: ***2014 PATRIOTS DRAFT THREAD***

I thought I would post a few random thoughts about this year's draft this morning...

1)  Louis Nix III will not be there at 29.  I know his stock has been falling, but there is just too much talent there for him to last that long.  SD at 25 is as far as he falls.

2)  Austin Seferian-Jenkins will go in the 1st round, and possibly to NE.  I know his stock seems to be down due to a sub-par 2013, but that skillset is very tantalizing, and there is so much to work with there.  I think BB could be very interested.  Don't be shocked if we take him, and he could even go before #29.

3)  NE will not draft Colt Lyerla.  No explanation needed here.

4)  Ryan Mallet will not get traded.  I've been saying all along that he will be a Patriot in 2014, and I'll stand by that.  I don't think any other teams have much interest, anyway.

5)  Shayne Skov is the player in this draft who I think is the most likely to be drafted by NE.  Smart, instinctive LB, right up BB's alley.  Could go at #62, #96, or somewhere in between due to a trade, but I bet BB has his sights set on him.

6)  Bruce Elliongton will be gone before our pick in the 3rd round.  I really want this guy, but I bet someone will fall in love with his skills and take him in the 3rd.

7)  NE will draft a QB with their 4th round Comp Pick.  Hey, and 2001 Comp Pick QB worked out pretty good, right?  Why not do it again?  Could be Murry, Mettenberger, or Savage from Pitt.

8)  Amaro will fall into the mid-to-late 2nd.  A lot to like with him, but those small, 9" hands may scare teams away from taking him early.

9)  Jeremiah Attaochu will rocket up draft boards as the draft nears, similar to what Chandler Jones did in 2012.  I think he will ultimately be a Top 25 Pick.  In a league starving for pass-rushers, he could be a very good one.  Someone will roll the dice on him earlier than expected.

10)  NE will not trade out of the 1st round this year.  They won't trade up, either.  I think they stay at 29 and make a pick.  I think teams will be pretty stingy with their mid-round picks this year since the draft is so deep, and I don't think BB will be able to find a decent deal to move back.  Also, we gained that valuable 4th round Comp Pick, so I think BB will be satisfied with the number of picks that he has this year.

What do you guys think?  Am I off my rocker with these thoughts?

Man... updating my mock is tough... mind seems to change daily, though I think I'm set (for at least the next 7 minutes) on who I want to see in Rd 1... Attaochu, Shazier, Tuitt or Kelvin Benjamin are the names that I keep coming back to.  After that I still like Ford and Hageman.

In Rd 2, I my focus is on Easley, Bucannon, Smith, Niklas, Bitonio and Moncrief...

In Rd 3, I'm looking at CJF, DaQuan, Richburg, Jean-Baptiste, Latimer, McCarron, Freeman and Ellington...

... we'll see how I feel tomorrow, haha.

One of the toughest drafts to predict in a while.  NE could go just about any direction.  Of your options, I would take:

1)  Benjamin

2)  Easely

3)  CJF

That would be solid.  Tough call, though.  Too much offense?
