    Aaron Hernandez reportedly may be running short of money.

    http://espn.go.com/boston/nfl/story/_/id/11009175/aaron-hernandez-struggling-pay-lawyers-court-filing-says

    He had made 18 millions dollars in his 3 seasons playing in New England. We know lawyers are expensive, but he is already having trouble paying his bills?  He must had done some mighty high living. He is still facing 3 wrongly death civil lawsuits. He will be stone broke even if he can beat the murder raps.

    You may end up paying his Public Defenders' bills. And isn't his story a great cautionary tale?

    I would imagine he never got the cash for his gun and drug investments once he was arrested. Whoops .

    Still wondering if interstate crime charges are coming stemming from larger drug/gun ring.

    They'll keep that just in case the murder raps fall by the wayside and he's found not guilty...it's a fed charge, and they are probably looking to see how many crimes are tied to any weapons they have tracked to him...If the feds charge him, he's going to be found guilty.

    Lawyers like his don't like working pro bono unless there is a noble cause or believe they can win the case and it will positively elevate their profile and bring them more notoriety and higher fees in the future.

    That is no longer the case since AH's indictment and arraignment on the double murder charges. It is obvious the prosecution is being helped by AH former friend/associate, Alexander Bradley who is feeding info to the the D.A. and will surely offer powerful eye-witness testimony against Hernandez at trial. Thus, this case now appears un-winable and the lawyers are eager to jump ship especially since AH's finances are dwindling.

    AH might want to consider cutting all this short, copping a plea for lifetime imprisonment and settling the civil suits in a way that will leave his infant daughter with a little $ for college etc. Of course, I doubt he will do this. After all, he is on course to be the NFL's single most dangerous gangster in history and has hope of continuing his mob career as a major boss in prison at MCI Walpole. That does not count the numerous books and films that will be made over the next 70 years  that will indirectly memorialize his achievements as a gangsta forever.

    Since I no longer live in Massachusetts and my taxes won't have to pay for a public defender, my attitude here is a quote from Rhett Butler (Clark Gable) -- "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn".   ("Gone With The Wind").

    Where did the money go? It should only cost him a couple million for the worlds best defense team.

    Sorry but the guy is obviously troubled and an idiot.  Money is a lot easier to lose than acquire.

    I suspect that DougIrwin is correct and that AH has some funds tied up in other, uh, "ventures".

    There is also a slim possibility that he (or his agent) was smart enough to work with a good financial planner or lawyer, and a significant portion of the money could be tied up in some kind of Trust(s), allowing only limited access or income to him during any given year.  Although AH doesn't seem the type who would give up control over anything at any time.

    Where does 18 million go?

    Fed, State Taxes etc: 7.2 million;

    Home: 1.3 million;

    Agent fees and professional expenses: 1 million

    Living expenses for him, his girlfriend, child for 3 years including cars, furniture, travel entertainment etc. = 1.5 million

    2 top criminal lawyers at 1200/ hr each over 1 year = 5 million;

    1 personal lawyer for 1 year: = 1 million

    Court preparation including private investigators, expert witnesses, stenographers, travel, photocopying etc. = 1 million.
