no way in hell it's NE/NY in the AFC Championship...the odds of even 1 of those teams making it is slim to none, nevermind both.  I really can't see it any other way than Indy/SD.

So after we win the superbowl this year and repeat again next year who should we sign as backup left guard for 2012?

Amazing how we think the problems that have been here all season will suddenly disappear come the playoffs. Please keep off the pipe!

After Sunday, Jets should beat Cincy.  Jets match up really well against Indy (#1 Pass defense, INdy at #25 Rush defense and Jets 1 Rush Offense), keep Sanchez from throwing a pass and they can't lose.

    Pats over Ravens probably.

The San Diego game is the issue, we can certainly get it done, it isn't exactly Joe Montana and Jerry Rice out there.

I won't back off of it. I suppose if someone said last year the the Cardinals would be in the Super Bowl, people would have whipped out odds (rightfully so) and told them how crazy they were. The fact of the matter is, the game is played on the field and because of that, almost anything can happen.

    sheldong:
thanks for the probability lesson.  Even using your fairly strong estimates for NE and Jets to win, there is only around 5% chance of it all falling together.

Actually as luck would have it, I was in Vegas at the very beginning of last season (after the first weekend of games had been played), and I still have the odds printed out on a sheet here stuck to my wall. At that time, the sportsbook at Luxor had the Cardinals odds of winning the Super Bowl 60/1.

The crappy thing for me is that I had bets placed on the other three NFC finalists, The Eagles, Giants, and Panthers, so the Cardinals fortunes weren't so great for me.

I do think the Jets pose matchup problems for the Colts, probably not the team the Colts would have wanted to see in the playoffs. At the same time, Freeney and Mathis will be salivating at the chance to disrupt Mark Sanchez.

TrollSpanker, yikes on those odds! I wouldn't blame you either for picking who you picked. The Cards showed no zest for football after getting rocked by the Patriots. They certainly looked to be "backing in" via a weak division.

I think the Jets line is pretty good though. Again, I stated from the very first post that the key is to gameplan like they did against the Bengals. If they limit Sancheeze's mistakes, they can win.

After seeing Jets beat Bengals, they are on a roll and have momentum. Capitulating Colts have laid down and lost two straight, lost the momentum. My money with a spread is on the Jets winning next week if they play Dolts.

The post above has funky probabilities.  I couldn't give the Pats only a 60% chance of beating Baltimore.

Also, at this point the Jets just bounced Cincy.

However, the next two games beyond the wild card round are both dicey.  San Diego and Indy both got an extra week of rest.  Both teams have been out clipping their toenails for several weeks.  At least Indy couldn't be sure which team would show up.  Why would they bother to prep for the Jets?  If San Diego knows what's good for them, they've been prepping for the Pats for two weeks.

The Patriots at home for an AFC title game against the Jets? Everyone in New England would love to see that...heh heh heh (collective rubbing of hands).
