We weren't going 15-1 fellas. I saw this game as a loss when the schedule came out. PIT was due to beat us at home. Teams were 3-9 coming out of a bye week. I hate these bye weeks, we should scrap them.
Our entire D couldn't tackle anyone especially in the first half. We didn't force a single punt until the end of the game.
What the heck is up with BB always deferring when he wins the coin toss? Why not put your vaulted O out there and try to get a lead rather than running out the league's worst defense and playing from behind? -

BJGE just wasn't effective, maybe it was his toe, IDK, but running wasn't working. Faulk actually looked good for not having played in a year. -

Apparently he switched and played mostly man coverage today. In the past played zone on Brady, and got picked apart. Kudos to the Steelers for trying something different when the status quo didn't work. -

Stick to the balance offence and stop trying to trick defences with these lame packages BILL!!! RUN THE FREAKIN BALL!!! Ughhhhhhhh -

Having a balanced offense is overrated. Rusty and folks like yourself claim that a balanced offense is the primary key to winning football games.Well, I'll counter that with the fact that we just had our butts handed to us, and Roethlisburger passed with ball 50 times.... -

Pit took FULL advantage of the Pats pass defense. How else do you explain Big Ben setting personal marks for passed in a half and the Steelers passing significantly more than running? Even a blind person knows you can beat the Pats by passing on them and eating up clock. Add to that a D playing very well against Brady and Co. and it spells L-O-S-S! -

They plyed barbie ball today and that's why they got their butt handed to them. 5 wide won't work unless you have a deep threat Y'all they think y'all are so smart, you and BB -

Meh. Dumbest mistake was not challenging Gronk's TD then proceeding to onside kick with 3 timeouts and the 2 minute warning. A 3 and out you have 2 minutes to score. -

I agree with you. Two bad coaching decisions right there. As badly as the team played today, they had a chance and didn't go for it. Instead they tried that lame onside attempt.
If people believe the reason is because BB had no faith in his defense or that he thought they were too gassed to make a stop then we have seen visions of things to come.
Can't blame it all on the Defense either. The Offense stunk today. Credit goes to Pitt's defense but the O couldn't do anything until the Guyton int. and then pretty much nothing until late in the fourth. -

Posted by vertighoNE WAS balanced. Until the last 20 minutes of the game they ran the ball ten times and passed the ball twelve times.Looking at the end result run vs pass of a losing effort will almost always show more passes than runs because if you are down by 14 points in the 4th quarter you don't have time to run the ball. Especially when the opponent has been moving the ball seven minutes at a time. The last twenty minutes NE threw the ball 23 times to just two runs. It's about execution. Not what kind of plays you are calling. In another thread there is a guy complaing that NE ran it too much in the first half. It's insanity. What ever happend to holding players accountable for not executing plays? -

Mostly what I liked was the way he designed his plan to make the Patriots look pathetic. Maybe if he worked for the Patriots, you'd like some Dick. Instead, you get a pass D that gets torched every game. Nice guru. I think Bill has already retired, he just hasn't told Kraft yet. -

In Response to Re: Another case of BB:In Response to Re: Another case of BB : Worst D? WHat? NE allowed 23 points, contained their run, contained Wallace, etc, and clearly kept the offense in the game to win it! What game are you watching? Do you really expect the D to hold other teams to under 14 or 10 points per game on the road in the Goodelll offensive NFL???

King: our D stunk. Yes, they allowed but 23 points, but how many 3rd and longs did they give up - a bunch, especially in the first half. In fact, the D was so bad, the offense (a bad day yes) couldn't make up for it as it usually does. If folks want to say that the O was bad today, fair enough. But to say the O cost us the game is folly - the D stunk and stunk often. Pitt had time of possession all over us. Offense can't score if it can't get on the field. Offense can't score if the D hacks up a lung on third downs. Offense can't score if the other team dominates time of possession and the battle of field position. I agree with a lot of stuff you post - but you're off on this. Both the O and D stunk, but the D stinking cost us the game. -

In Response to Re: Another case of BB:WHat??? NE's offense scored only 7 points in the first half off a Guyton INT! The offense was doing 3 and outs left and right again! How on earth can anyone watch this game and come away blaming the D? Pitt did a nice job. They have 4 straight gsames now scoring a TD on their opening drive. So, we blame the D for not stopping 7 points in the opening drive and continue to pretend we can blame the D? 23 points allowed on the road against a jacked up team our offense was AWFUL with matching their intensity, and that's our own D's fault? What planet are some of you on? The offense cannot control the clock and sustain drives whatsoever in that spread base! Terrible! Why is Faulk starting after being out for over a year???!! Where is Ridley?? Awful coaching by BB and O'Brien combined. AWFUL. MIke Wallace did nothing and they adjusted on Miller. The game was there to be had. Brady takes away too much time and now even Pitt easily defends that shotgun spread. Fire O'Brien.
