Like this draft Tex. As always I reserve judgement until the rooks play. As I stated in the draft thread. This draft could do for the defense what the Hernandez/Gronk draft did for the offense. Hightower looks legit. Jones looks like the type of player who will be better in year two or three than year one. Dennard could be a sleeper as could Bequette. Wilson.....have never seen the guy play. With Gregory and Fanane their could be some interesting wrinkles on the D.

I'd say B. But will wait and see what happens when they actually play a game in the NFL.

it's not about the draft anymore. It's about their productivity and performance in the real world. For the first year, chances are, most of the rookies will under perform relative to expectations. Seriously, how many rookies perform like all pros during their first year? Not many.

That being said, it's going to be an exciting 2012 season.

    A in round 1.
    after round 1, C+

as i have said on bdc, there are many roads to the same destination.
we will see how this turns out.

    bequette looks good.

most of these guys may pan out.

if they do you can go back and give them the appropriate grade.

i thought he could have dominated the draft board but missed starting from rd 2

rd 1 determines how good this draft is.
gotta give them some kind of "B" plus, minus or even on the whole
till i see how devon wilson plays i will say b minus
without my rose colored glasses on.
    :)
i'm not a hater, but able to give a somewhat subjective opinion (i know that is hard for some).
this is without reading all the links you put up yet (they all mostly yield to bb anyway)

    peace

They are going to be sick, super bowl champions. This forum will be clear of the trolls from other teams by week 2 of the season.

I gave him a B+. His drafting to need was excellent. His two 1st round picks were possibly a bit of a stretch, but his 2nd rounder was flat out bizarre. His later round picks look very interesting.

With todays' signing of Chandler Jones, only Dont'a Hightower and Jake Bequette remain unsigned: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/05/23/patriots-lock-up-first-round-pick-chandler-jones/

Even if Tavon plays like an Avon salesman, this will turn out to be a very good draft, so long as Chandler Jones and Dont'a Hightower fulfill expectations. But, if Jones and Hightower pan out, and the Patriots get a solid player out of Wilson, Bequette, Ebner, Dennard, and/or Ebert, it will be then be a great draft.

yes all those players are a lot of "ifs"

by the way if you read my original comment i said that my opinion is the pats draft will largely be determined by how the first round picks do (but not completely).

and we had a chance to dominate the board i thought (in rd 1 and 2) but didnt do it.

and that there are MANY roads to the same destination.

Re: Anxiously Awaiting the Pats' 2012 Draft Class

Two picks I thought a bit odd... Wilson a reach as well as the Rugby player. But As corny and old as it is to say it I trust BB and he must see something.
I also find it odd Hightower is questioned by so many. As bad as the defense was I could see him filling a couple of rolls. I love Jones he will be a year in the making I think but I am very happy with this draft. SO a solid A could go down to a B if Willson is a bust, but if he turns out to be a competant addition this is an A+ draft, and the Rugby guy if he ends up being a solid special teamer at the very least it is a Solid A with stars and a bullet to an A+ if he does something special on teams or elsewhere.

Tavon Wilson is the guy who can make this draft outstanding.  Very wild pick.  Happy they picked up Bequette who I thought was very under rated.  Ebner, the rugby player is of high interest to me.  A lot is riding on this draft class for sure.

On paper...this draft is a B+ all day long, and like others have said if Wilson pans out, it's a solid A. Let's vote again at the end of the season. Half these guys won't see much game time.

G-men suffered a tough break today, Jints...literally. WR Hakeem Nicks went down with a broken bone in his foot:

In Response to Re: Anxiously Awaiting the Pats' 2012 Draft Class : yeah...fortunately time frame is 6-12 weeks so even at worst case scenario he will be ready for week 1...but that means he misses camp and most pre-season...hope its in the 6-8 week range and he'll have preseason...either way, better now than during the season. injury bug has hit jints a bit hard since last preseason

Here's a good article on the state of the Giants' receiving corp, and on the impact that the Nicks' injury might have:
