Lucky for you TCal and the team, Arrington may not be seeing the field as much as he has in the past. Revis and Browner will play majority and its safe to say Dennard has shown his keep as a very good CB and Ryan could potentially pass Arrington on the depth chart if he continues to grow from his rookie season. In essence, we could be paying our #5 CB 4 million

Back in '82, I used to be able to throw a pigskin a quarter mile.

How much you wanna make a bet I can throw a football over them mountains?... Yeah... Coach woulda put me in fourth quarter, we would've been state champions. No doubt. No doubt in my mind.

Arrington is a Slot Corner back. BB had to play him as a starting LCB when ever the starting CB got a boo boo! He's just not a Starting CB .

I understand but this was covered before. It was all about timing. Arringtons contract was signed when our cb group was thin to say the least. Before Talib even. At that time, he was expected to play more. Given the recent signings, drafting of Ryan, his contract now looks bloated...which it is for what he gives us. What do you do about it? Trade him? Cut him? Dennard is nearing the point where we have to lock him up or watch him walk. Would you give arringtons money to Dennard?

    Re: Arrington Update

I don't get the Arrington hate on the board? Arrington plays a very dependable slot corner position, is a sure tackler, can create turn overs, and also has ST value.

He signed a contract on the higher side of the window of his value, but still with in the window. (I mentioned this at the time of signing, and was ridculed by the board that it was a very good signing) At the time of signing, Talib was a question mark, there was no Revis or Browner, and Dennerd may have been facing league punishment.

In todays NFL, there have to be 3 starting CB's on the field most of the time, and Arrington fits the bill by all accounts.

He is miscast playing outside corner, so the coaches should not play him there. lets face it, I highly doubt we see him any where near the outside this year with the current talent on the team

Which is a great move by bb.  These idiots don't know a nickel d is almost a base d in today's game.  We have one of the best at half starter money and they claim bb overpaid.

    Priceless.

    Re: Arrington Update

BB did over pay, but not by as much as most posters think. Every rant against Arrington also includes a jab at his salary, fair enough, but at that time, BB did not have many fall back options, and Arrington has produced very well in the slot, is a player who stays on the field in spite of injury, and is a stand up guy in the locker room and community. If the Pats had to go over slot on this position, at that time, Arrington was a good guy to do it with

Well did you happen to see early in the afc championship when "gomie" got hit and drifted a wounded duck towards Arrington? A ball that should have been picked off and brought back for 6 but Kylie trips over his own feet, falls flat on his face and watches the receiver pick up a third and long. The rest is history...

I know Arrington catches a lot of heat here but he is a quality cover guy on the inside. He does a nice job on most of the slot receivers in the league. Unfortunately when he is asked to play on the outside he doesn't have the type of athleticism and size to play against some of the faster more physical outside guys.

That pretty much sums it up. Solid slot corner and ST guy. We can argue all day if 4m per is overpaid or not, but I tend to agree that every team needs 3-4 quality starting corners, and with revis a rental, browner an unknown (if he can not get another strike), and Dennard up for contract soon, its good to have some insurance.

Ya, dope!  You ever hear of I phones changing words?  You wouldn't know since you still have a flip, but it happens quite often.

Regardless,  You really should shut your mouth unless you want someone listing all Beebee's 1st round busts.

And you sure don't want to get started on the second round.   (you know, all those he traded out of the first round to aquire)  Pretty sure beebee corners the market on those.

Or how about 2006-9 where he pretty much busted on every pick?

Did you know the 09 draft was listed in the top 5 of bad drafts for all teams, EVER!

Team is still suffering because of that one.

Worst draft and worst pass D to ever play in a SB?????

Yup, that's our gm for ya.

There were many much more capable CB's who got paid the same or less for less years than Arrington that year. He's a 4th CB at best and right now a 5th CB. That doesn't come close to needing to give him $4mil a year for 4 years. Seriously what other teams do you think would have given him that? He's a alright average slot CB. Contrary to belief, you don't pay an average slot CB that type of money period. The fact that the year before he lost time to Dennard and then this year he lost time to Ryan at the end of each respective year points to that BB felt other players were better in a position as you said was weak. Have you heard of any team paying a average slot CB who's 4th or 5th on the depth chart that type of money? We can talk about his play and have a good debate on it but in honesty do you think that was a good contract?
