So your saying Wilhite is slowly developing into an overated corner who wants way too much money?

    lol to Jbonesky

Wilhite is not starting caliber. He would excel as a nickel or dime CB but thats about it. Now, Wheatley, on the other hand, hasn't shown anything in the 2 years hes been on the team. I don't know what it is. I just find it mind boggling that a 2nd RD pick can't even see the field.

I don't know about that. Samuel always had a knack for the ball. True, he got burnt several times too, but he could be called a not so perfect ball hawk. I don't see that kind of an instinct from Wilhite. He is pretty fluid in covering the WR, but has no clue on how to turn around and look at the ball to int or break up the pass. As a result, WR has a completion and he either fall on his face trying to break up the pass/tackle after the completion or in case of the end zone, escorts the WR like a cop car escorting an ambulance in rush hour.
I rather have a problem in him developing into an over rated corner and make some picks, then see him being beaten over and over during crucial plays.

Wheatley was coming on in his rookie season before breaking his wrist. They eased him in as he played in 6 games and then started the INDY game and was doing a very nice job against Marvin Harrison before breaking his wrist while landing hard after a deflected pass to Harrison.

Fans only remember the last thing they saw, or in his case what they didn't see(him much in 2009). Reason? No idea.

Yeah I remember Wheatley playing well in that game and then getting hurt. The problem I have is this team drafted him so high knowing he had a serious pryor wrist injury and then what happens? Bingo he doesn't make it half way through his rookie season before he injures his wrist and we don't see him again since.

Are you guys forgetting the 10 touchdowns Wheatley gave up in the preseason game against Chris Henry this past summer? It was pretty embarrassing.  Maybe Wheatley just can't play?

I think Bodden will be re-signed.  Samuels looks better more in hindsight because people remember his breakout season of 2006, forgetting his freelancing and the risk-taking that got him chewed out by Rodney Harrison on the field more than once.

Wilhite is not far off gents, if you look at games he is stride for stride with receivers and often is in position to make a play on the ball and that's where he has a problem.  Once in position and ball is in the air he either looks for it late or not at all.
I think with Brown now on board he will improve, IMO he was better as a #3 in the slot and should see him there this year.

Whetely hasn't played enough for me to comment unless he has been healthy and has not practice well to earn to be active and get playing time

Re: Asante Samuel vs. Jonathan Wilhite

Yea he got torched all year, ALL YEAR! And Im sorry, but you look like a fool making excuses for him, its like making excuses for Phoney Baloney Lindsey Mohan. And saying hes close is just foolish, hes anything but close. From his footwork to his judgement, hes bad, lol. Hey I really liked him and Wheatley, I love their athletic ability and skills, but neither has come CLOSE to fulfilling their potential. 'Sante always showed glimpses of what he could be, these guys have showed nothing. And Im actually worried about Whily's confidence at this point, saying he was torched is putting it mildly. Teams located him and tore him apart all year and the worse thing about it is we saw it coming and so did he. I mean against Indy it was either a draw or a fade/slant to Wayne. If it was a draw then it wouldnt have involved him anyway, so all he had to do was focus on his man, and he wasnt close LOL! getting rid of 'Sante was a big mistake, and Ill forever believe the SB was the only reason why. Everyone remembers the drop, but Tyree was his guy, something everyone forgets. Even so I still would have locked him up, you always over pay for good players and we've wasted alot money trying to fill that void. This team has made some terrible decisons the last 4-5 years that are killing this team, from the draft to F/A we're really paying the price. And unless we start to clean house we'll keep paying for em' , on the field or in the wallet.

Re: Asante Samuel vs. Jonathan Wilhite

Wilhite can develop into a quality corner. There are a lot of impatient fools on this board who want an instant starting shut down corner right out of the draft. It happens, but not that often. Sometimes you have to develop a player and Wilhite could make a decent starting corner if he gets a chance to develop over the next two years.

Yeah, I doubt NE would want his 13 INT's and 38 passes defended over the last two years, I mean, they're doing just fine without him and his playmaking ability.

Don't blame the player, the market dictates their worth and he had every right to get as much $$ as possible.

Wilhite will excel once he get's behind the fryer at McDonald's.  He certainly won't be in front of it or in position to make a play on it.
