This is not directly directed at you, but what would you like us to do? Put a pink hat on, maybe light some incense and question nothing - nothing - that these immortal nfl coaches (who get fired every ten minutes) do. Truth is it's what's fun about being a fan, being able to question  things on a site like this and yet still root for your team. I mean, really if they win the super bowl, are we winning the super bowl? When they lose, did we lose? Did you or I throw that game winning pass or make that tackle? It's all in what you want to feel/believe/look for/get out of all this. Bottom line, this is a football site. If you want to learn about cars, or dogs, there's other places you can go. If you want to just blindly cheer away at something, there's people down in Waco Texas you can talk to.

I deal with bottom lines TP. I don't know about home-town officiating or divine interventions. I know when you let inferior teams stay in a game any kind of bad break can beat you. Woulda shoulda coulda is just not something I lean on.

    The point was yes its fun to predict things but some go over board thinking they know more then the coaches etc..For people to debate is fun but shouldnt be insulted for thier oppions  but know it alls.

     Cut it out.

     The Patriots overachieved in 2006 by beating a then superior Chargers team, and, but for some horrid officiating (PI call on Hobbs, which handed the Colts TD, and was such a bad call that the NFL sent the Patriots a "letter of apology" after the game...the B.S. offensive PI call against Troy Brown, which cost the Pats a TD...that's a 14 point swing right there), the Pats would have beaten the Bears in the SB.

     The 2007 Patriots were one of the greatest teams ever...but they were derailed by a divine final drive, the execution by the Giants' defense of a great defensive game plan, and a monumental distraction launched by the media on the eve of the game. That's not a bunch of excuses. That's a bunch of facts. 

     How can you criticize either of those squads, even though they didn't win. They weren't one and done in the play-offs...and they both were beaten by the eventual SB champ.

     You know, I defended you for your stance on the draft, and your right to be free from personal attacks when stating your opinions. But...is winning an argument so important to you that you're willing to say anything to come out on top? 

     As for not leaning on coulda, woulda, shoulda, that's exactly what you have done in criticizing BB as you have.

     Sorry...you can make a case against BB about what happened in 2009 and 2010...but prior to that, you don't have a leg to stand on. Your seeming insistence that every time the Pats didn't win a championship from 2001-10 was an abject failure on BB's part is ridiculous.   

       

I don't expect to win SB's every year, but how else do you measure the success of an organization? I posted earlier about "what you consider a successful season..."...no one responded...

Here it is again...Is a successful season going 14-2, making the playoffs, winning in the playoffs or winning the SB? I think teams like the Pats have 1 goal in mind at the beginning. It's about 1 game at a time, but the ultimate goal is the SB or bust.

A quote from TB today on this very subject...
Brady: "There's only one team every year that has a good season and we haven't been that team in a long time...."

It appears that Brady means that without winning the SB, you don't have a good season. Even a 14-2 season is not good, not enough.

Just because some come out and critique BB in certain aspects doesn't make them Jets fans. He's a genius football HC, not untouchable. If you use Brady's yardstick for what makes a successful season, we haven't had one in a long time...as well as many other teams.

very very very irrational if he thinks that. most likely he is just a troll though and is messing with patriot fans. nobody in a right mind would think that way. its just like saying peyton mannning sucks or that kobe bryant isnt any good.

Who cares about ratings. Kind of like the probowl. No one cares.

if you want to use a yardstick, take Brady's quote from today. TB is the closest thing to BB in player form. That is basically an insiders view or opinion on what makes a good season, probably very close to the way BB views it. And if BB's view on things is only 1 team a year has a good season, then we haven't had a good season in some time...(almost exact quote from Brady).

like him or hate him, anyone who doesn't think that belichick is a very good coach is delusional.

Sure, because you are like a Jest fan.  All you care about is your ONE win, so that's all you want to have matter.  Your team rose up, for 3 games, and outplayed themselves.  That is nice, but it is an island of greatness in the sea of your lousy play.  After your ONE win over the Patriots, you sank back where you belong.  And all you do is dance around pointing to the ONE win.   And ignoring everything else.  

I'll repeat what I said earlier---not even sure if it's in this thread or another BB bashing thread, because there have been so many of those at this point.

I, too, once fell into the "if you don't win it all then the season is a waste of time" trap as a Boston sports fan.

It was in the mid-80s when the Celtics had The Big Three in their primes and they were pretty much going to the NBA Finals, or at least the East Finals every season.

If they lost in the NBA Finals (happened twice) or the East Finals (happened a few times--to Philly and Detroit), then I would be blind with anger for the entire summer and would declare the entire season that had preceded the post-season defeat to be a waste of time and a failure.

Then something odd happened: The Big Three got old; Red got old and no longer could do the job he once did better than anyone else; and the C's began to fall into obscurity.

It got to the point that by the time they actually were good enough to make a decent post-season run again (2002 with Pierce and Walker) I was ecstatic just to see them get as far as they did.

I was thrilled that they won it all in 2008, and disappointed that they couldn't finish the job against the Lakers in 2010--but the loss to LA didn't prevent me from enjoying that improbable post-season run immensely.

It's all about perspective, I think.

It had been so long since the C's were relevant on the NBA scene, the one title they won during the "new big three" era seemed like 10 to me, and even losing to the despised Lakers two years ago didn't bother me nearly as much as it did in 1985.

The bottom line is that I've enjoyed being a fan much more since I calmed down and realized that no team can win the championship every season, no matter how many HOF players or all-time greats they've got on the roster.

Luck plays a role.

Injuries play a role.

Other teams simply being better in one game or one short series also plays a role.

If you guys who are absolutely killing BB in these threads truly are Pats fans, then my suggestion would be that you need to calm down and try to enjoy the fact that NE is a perennial Super Bowl contender right now, and even if they don't win it all, that's still a great accomplishment in this hyper-competitive NFL era.

You'll drive yourself crazy as fans if "win the Super Bowl or the season is a failure" is your mantra every year. Trust me, you will drive yourself nuts and you simply won't enjoy the fan experience as much as you should.

I learned that lesson with the C's in the 80s, and I'm glad that I did.

Hardright...I'm with you. I've enjoyed the last decade immensely. Especially after decades of drought. No denying the Pats have been the team of all teams in the NFL for 10+ straight years and it doesn't look like it will end anytime soon.
I also agree with BB is the best coach in the NFL today hands down. Not even a discussion.

Trap by saying if we don't win it all it means nothing?....I simply quoted TB, no more, no less. If TB and BB use winning the SB as the ultimate measure of success, then that is what I will use as a fan.
However, it's not to say that success can also be building SB caliber teams year in and year out. I would agree with this point to. It just depends on how you measure it.
There are small degrees of success...rebuilding a franchise, constantly being competitive, etc.

Sorry wonderboy, but your theory is born of delusions brought on from being inebriated with the Hoodie firewater.

I am a Pat's fan starting in the '60s. In those days you were looked down upon for even being a fan of an AFL team. I started watching the Pats when they played at Fenway. I attended games at the Shaefer Stadium with the potholes, the aluminum benches, route 1 traffic and most fans being stiff out of their minds before the game even began.  I witnessed Heisman winners Joe Bellino and John Huarte playing in the same backfield for the team (albeit for maybe 2 plays). I've watched somewhere around 600 Pat's games.

Your issue is that you cannot comprehend how anybody does not share the unrealistic view you have that anything BB does is genius. I have said he is a great coach and only say he is an average GM. But because of that you have a cockamamie theory that I am some very clever jets fan posing as a Pat's fan. Absurd.
