Re: Bart Scott say's anything less than a superbowl will be a joke

All one has to do is read any of these things...

"The NFL season does not begin for another three months, but the New York Jets have already made it clear that anything less than a Super Bowl championship will be viewed as a failure.

"I think it's about time we get it done and see this thing through because, after a while, people are going to start to look at it as a joke," Jets linebacker Bart Scott told ESPN's Sal Paolantonio.

Scott's comments echo the sentiments of Jets head coach Rex Ryan, who guaranteed a championship this past February for the second straight season. Ryan made a similar guarantee before last season...".

...In order to see why The NY Jets will NEVER...EVER...Win a Superbowl Championship.  Why?  Because if they're working under this mindset (and they VERY much are)...They see winning The Superbowl as an Entitlement, And not something you have to earn.

"after a while"? I think "joke" is already the word most apt to define the jets circus.
In Response to Bart Scott say's anything less than a superbowl will be a joke : Bart Scott has the perfect initials...no rings and all mouth...another jets punk...PLEASE wipe the floor with this team this year! there is not another team nearly as unlikeable-and without having won squat! i will unashamedly admit I am a HUGE pats fan when they play FatBoy and these punks-KICK THEIR ***!
Posted by JintsFan
Seriously.  Many of Us on here WERE the "Jocks", among many other things, adolescent cliches & clicks...  Even though in HS I lettered in something like 4 sports, 3 of them each year, I HATED being viewed as a proverbial "jock", and laughably did anything and everything in order to distance myself from those that DID view themselves as "Mr. Superstar" (Omg, what I could tell you guys about my Class S school's 2 B-Ball Male divas. They won our regions Class S! <oooh!> Championship My Senior Year="Hoop Dreams" doesn't even begin to...not even close).

Quick sidenote (while I'm entirely off track, as it is): 1 of My friends attending one of the Bigger Catholic Schools, rather than my small Ct hometown, was rolling as he attended a Basketball Game with me 1 year- I recall what he said as the tiny hometown crowd erupted after the Lead "hoop Dreamer" happened to get the ball with noone else around for half a court, and he went up and creeped the ball, with his fingertips, and every effort he had, for a front 2 handed (as basic as basic gets) Dunk (which he made by a hair).  And my friend was Rolling, and he says to me:

"Yea, I guess he couldn't decide on that, or the 1-handed windmill, or just a reverse...Look Laz," he continued, "You people here don't quite know this yet, and everyone in this 1 cow town, bows in reverence to this 6'4 beanpole d#ckhead scrawny whiteboy, with no game, And they all-AND moreso than anyone-HIM included, Believe he's NBA bound...but last I checked, The NBA wasn't looking for rail-thin, big-egoed white boys, with an average 3-pointer, no ups, and zero dribbling skills."

He got a 2 year scholarship to The University of Hartford...and he never left the bench.

~Long Point being...  There were "Jocks" and then there were the Totally egotistical, beat-the-small-freshman-up, Some-Teachers-passing-you-on-Principle, sc#mbag, loud, j#rk-#ff, "I am Holier than thou...and thou's friends"---JOCKS.

Bart ScottHe was this guy.  God...Can't you just SEE him making that statement from above???

(carelessly, flexing his muscles, eyebrows raised in no care b/c the world loves him)
"Yea...about time we get this done...yep, bang out that Superbowl Championship...Can't win 7, without getting that first lil' baby superbowl right outta da way, right?  Should be able to get err done by October, I figure...Parades already set...better have Crystal, I ain't stoopin' to no Moet."

If the Jets go further than us in the playoffs again this year, our season will be a joke.

the best part is our team is getting better they are getting worse with age!  plus they might lose a lot of players in FA when it finally arrives.

There are only two things that are of great significance in an NFL season. Did you make the playoffs? Did you win the SB?

If managing to fail took you a bit longer than the next guy, it really doesn't mean much.

Re: Bart Scott say's anything less than a superbowl will be a joke

I read the article on NFL.com, and it seems most of the comments suggested the Jests were already a joke! Except, of course, the few delusional fans who claimed Sanchez was better than both Brady and Manning as the Jests won games against NE and Indy in January. Bart Scott is correct, to a degree. But the simple fact is that the Jests have been a joke since before this idiot was even born! Other than the Lions they have gone the longest without winning a conference championship, yet being from NY (or at least near it) they feel the need to continually run their mouths. Rex Ryan is only the latest of the braggarts. Though I suppose he's got the biggest mouth of all (having to be able to talk smack and still have enough room for a foot and a couple twinkies in there!), and therefore gets more press. But the biggest problem with the Jests is that they do not seem committed to building a championship team. They have not done so since the 60s. Look at the teams to continually make it to SBs. The Patriots, Steelers, and Colts have appeared in 8 of the last 10 SBs. All these teams have built through the draft. So did the Giants when they won SB42. Same with the Packers. The Jests are more like the Skins and try to buy talent for a quick shot. That very seldom works. Ryan's philosophy is to let these guy be "themselves" and to speak their minds. But reality is that a football team is 53 guys mostly under 35 years old. And football is a team game, so discipline is needed. The Jests have little to none. Bart Scott is trying to be the Ray Lewis of the Jests. But Ray didn't just talk smack and rile up his teammates. He taught the younger players and led by example. The only example Bart is setting is that whoever talks the loudest gets the most air time. All smoke and no substance. But the one thing he gets right is this...if they don't win it all this time around everyone will consider them a joke. Of course, us Patriots fans have known this fact since before Bart or Rex joined the team!

Re: Bart Scott say's anything less than a superbowl will be a joke

When you think about it, wouldn't we agree that for any NFL team to have the SB as the ultimate goal is what we want to see out of the players and coaches of the team we support?  To not get there is considered a failure for the reason to play the game, which is win and attain the league championship.

I guess the issue we have here is the "tone" of the comments emminating out of the Jets camp that they feel it is already their's to lose.  When you make predictions you are going to win it all, PERIOD, is a mighty big boast that is truly hard to back up no matter how good your team is.

Nobody here ever said they hadn't won a SB. What we have been saying is that it was 42 years ago, before Bart Scott was even born! The only team who has gone longer without appearing in the SB is the Lions. And I think we'd all agree they are pathetic! Even their own fans will admit it!

I was born but here's a few historical references for you.....

The Jets won a Super bowl....

While the Beatles were still together.
Before the first moon landing.
Before Woodstock.
Before Nixon became president.
Before the personal computer was invented.
Before most people owned color TVs.
Before touch tone phones.
When gas was 35 cents a gallon.
