BB "All In" - Is This the Beginning of the End or The Start of a New Beginning?

With two trades moving up in the first round, this is perhaps the first time in a long time BB deviates from his usual MO of value and is addressing a positional need in the draft.  In combination with an aging Brady and combination with two SB losses in 2007 and 2011 - I'm wondering if BB realizes this may be the last hurrah to try to get another SB while Brady is still able or whether the last two years is just the start of another era for the Patriots? or both?

Either way, it looks like 2012 is going to be another good year.

Re: Is This the Beginning of the End or The Start of a New Beginning?

    Neither.

    A continuation.

Remember that "old" D the Pats had in 2004 that was going to be pushed around in wheelchairs? BB turned it into one of the youngest. It's not about now, it's not about later, it's about always. BB will never mortgage the future for the present, nor will he ever blow it in the present with hopes of rebuilding in the future.

I've been saying for a few years that the excellence of this team relaly won't be seen until we are well removed from it. These past 11/12 years have truly been amazing for all us Pats fans. What was the bad years? Losing in a SB twice? Having Brady go down and still notching double digit wins? Other playoff losses? Spygate? Compare that with any other team over that same period. PIT? Below .500 a few times, Rapelisthburger. GB? Brett Barfe nonsense, amd a few disappointing years. NO? HA! Indy? Nope. Baltimore has had a good, consistent run, but not to the level the Pats have, not at all. And with Mallet/Hoyer the Pats seem to have either; their next QB, or some trade ammo over the next few years. A VERY young, and seemingly ready to be good D. Solid pieces on the OLine and TE. Young RBs. The only position they don't have some youth in is WR. In the salary cap, huge ego era, it has been, and continues to be, remarkable.

    Beginning of the end.

    Three more years.

    Two SB appearances.

At least one Championship, and a possible repeat.

We'll all live to be content old men.

certainly it is a factor, but mebbe there is a sense of urgency due to all the factors mentioned.  Remember, it really wasn't that long ago when the Patriots were cellar dwellers. Winning (and losing) tend to occur in cycles....

I don't buy the rookie wage scale as being a factor in BB's moves. That scale really only brought the exorbitant top 10 costs to a realistic place. The picks outside the top 10 were never a crazy or a debilitating hit on the cap.

BB knows the window is nearly shut, and he also knows he desperately needs a real NFL defense.

Brilliant moves!  I wonder if these two will match Carter's and Anderson's 2011 production in their rookie years.  Better sign Ellis and Haynesworth again.

Thanks, if the Pats hit on a starter in the 2nd rd, we can probably just pencil
them in for another 9 afce titles in the next 11 years!

No offense, just way to much good stuff going on with the draft to deal
    with a Jets troll today.

Best of luck today, maybe Rex and co. can draft some help for that
    wildcat offense.  Good luck.

In Response to Re: Is This the Beginning of the End or The Start of a New Beginning? : What's the problem?  You thought that those signings were fantastic.  Did you change your mind? At least Bill didn't let another year go by without addressing that poor defensive front like he did last year in one of the deepest DL drafts in a decade. The harsh reality is, those two picks, if they turn out to be anything more than average, will not provide the same production as Carter and Anderson did.  Best case scenario = wash.

The child is still whining about our D ranking last. He still hasn't figured out that games are decided by points not yards. But since his Jets are a laughingstock this is the only way he can feel manly.

No need to comment about the Ellis and haynesworth signings.  The Patriots picked those two up, they didn't work out so great and the Patriots still made it to the Super Bowl.  Even when things don't work out for them they still succeed.  How about those Jets, bwahahahahaha!!

Jets wil finish 3rd this season.  Partriots 1st, Bills 2nd, Jets then Dolphins.  You just better hope the Jets can beat the Dolphins this season!! Bwahahahahaha!!!

If they had such bad signings last year then how did they win the division while beating the Jets twice. What is going on here? They are so bad but keep on winning, how does this happen. It might be that you are underestimating the Patriots, Vegas has them as super bowl favorites.

He is just jealous, I know but its kind of fun making fun of him while we can. We all know that week 2 of the season he will be gone from here until next offseason. He will come back next May talking about how the Patriots cheated to win their 4th superbowl and how it wont happen in 2013. I wonder if his avatar is a real picture of him, probably.

    Jet moroni,
You're awesome team couldn't beat the same team when it counted (remember the fight for big brother game?)  Loser
If you had you may have been able to back into the play-offs for a 3rd year.
    Too bad, so sad.
