Maybe the Bruins should sign Shaun Ellis with the four million in cap space they recieved from the Thomas trade...it's what we paid him.

That would be nice since all winning QB's seem to have them.

    Re: Belichick/Chiarelli

Kessel deal was the clincher for me. Kessel for what became Seguin and Hamilton. Pretty obvious really. If you have a cap you unload any dead weight. If some superstar wants an ungodly amount of money, you auction him for picks. Going forward the Bruins have one of the best defensmen corps in the NHL. And great goalie they can now pay.

The inverse paradigm is still the jets. Trade four picks for an All-World QB. Go all in on overated/overpriced free agents, create two year window to win big, incur the wrath of cap Satan. Repeat.

The Leafs are the Jets of the NHL.  They have some much pressure to win it all, they knee jerked move after move after move.

Chiarelli also does a great job knowing the market, selling high and keeping leverage. This Thomas trade looks bad on paper, but it's an asset he had that he otherwise would have sat on.

Worst case, a 4th rd pick and he just cleared cap space to tell GMs he can and will made a trade deadline deal to help the B's this year.

    It's Belichickian alright.

the likelihood of thomas ever playing in the NHL again is slim to none.....to be able to get anything for him at this point is a plus.

Rusty, Toronto is the NHL microscope. Every fan is smarter than the GM (could be true) and better than the actual players at hockey (probably not true). Certainly not bandwagon fans, but like Yankees fans (only they show up when their team loses). To me hockey was run by antiquated dinosaurs for years, then Piltdown Man (Donald Fehr/Bettman) appeared and tried to make sense of their own evolution. Saw Pete Rozelle's shadow returned to cave painting to discuss.

I wouldn't necessarily call it Belichickian, Red pulled great moves all the time.

The Kessel for Seguin/9th pick in the 2011 draft was pure genius.  Toronto also helped out Mike O'Connell with the Raycroft for Rask deal. I still can't believe that one. Raycroft was never that good even after lucking into the ROY award in 2033/2004.

    Thank you, Toronto.

That's what happens with the Leafs hire a GM who was born in New England . . . damn Brian Burke . . . must have been a plant from the Bruins  . . .

Pretty hilarious how queenie castigates others for having Brady blow up dolls and a man crush but has never admitted a single flaw in BB despite more draft busts than you can shake a stick at. If BB stopped fast he would have to have an Anal Rustectomy.
