Weeks after cutting two recent 2nd round picks, here are the statuses of his "top" 5 2013 draft picks...
Jamie Collins: 2 snap cameo, didn't make the stat sheet and was ineffective in his only pass rush attempt.
Duron Harmon: inactive
Aaron Dobson: inactive
Logan Ryan: 2 snap cameo, no stats
Josh Boyce: 14 snaps, targeted twice, both passes incomplete
Jamie Collins: 4 snaps on defense
Duron Harmon: played 8 snaps one tackle - it was a significant tackle as it prevented a 1st down on a completed short pass.
Aaron Dobson: 10 targets, 3 catches, 1 rec TD (39 yards), 3 drops (PFF rec grade -2.9)
Logan Ryan: dressed but, no snaps on defense, didn't make the stat sheet
Josh Boyce: 2 snaps, zero targets
Jamie Collins: 18 snaps on defense - did a decent job on his 14 coverage snaps - had a stop in the run game (in 3 run snaps)
Duron Harmon: played 6 snaps on defense and didn't make the stat sheet - had a penalty on a punt return
Aaron Dobson: 10 targets, 7 catches, got open deep twice with Brady misfiring each time
Logan Ryan: was thrown at 4 times, allowing 2 catches for 23 yards, one was a 20 yarder, outside of that, he was solid in limited duty
Josh Boyce: 1 target, zero catches
Jamie Collins: 12 snaps on defense - was targeted twice both for completions. Had one missed tackle.
Duron Harmon: only 1 snap on defense and didn't make the stat sheet for a consecutive week.
Aaron Dobson: 3 targets, 1 catch for 10 yards, left game with injury.
Logan Ryan: was thrown at 3 times, allowing 3 catches for 42 yards, including a TD catch. Ryan vs Ryan yielded a perfect passer rating (158.3) for the Falcons QB.
Josh Boyce: 3 targets, one catch for 24 yards (19 of those after the catch). A career day!
Jamie Collins: 10 snaps on defense no stats
Duron Harmon: 9 snaps on defense one assist
Aaron Dobson: 5 targets, 2 catches for 49 yards, had a fumble (not lost), Brady's pick was intended for him.
Logan Ryan: 4 snaps no stats
Josh Boyce: 1 snap no targets
Jamie Collins: 6 snaps on defense no stats, allowed a 9 yard completion on the only ball thrown into his coverage.
Aaron Dobson: 9 targets, 6 catches for 63 yards, 2 drops, had holding penalty that nullified a good gain by Amendola, who was concussed on the play.
Duron Harmon: 12 snaps on defense one tackle, had a penalty on a punt return
Logan Ryan: 33 snaps on defense no stats, was thrown at twice, both times incomplete. He was lucky on both attempts as he was bailed out by drops as his -1.1 PFF coverage grade attests.
Josh Boyce: Inactive. If Austin Collie remains healthy, I might be copying an pasting this part.
Jamie Collins: Made his first NFL start but only played 15 snaps on defense. Did a decent job. Had 3 hurries on his six rushes and 2 stops in the run game.
Aaron Dobson: 7 targets, 3 catches for 34 yards. Not his fault Brady couldn't get him the ball. Dobson is becoming my personal favorite among the "Top 5".
Duron Harmon: Career high 31 snaps on defense. Had a tackle and a pass defensed.
Logan Ryan: Looked like totally awesome on that pick six! That was more a discredit to Geno Smith than anything else. Outside of that, Logan allowed 4 recs on 6 targets. Two of them went for 1st downs. At least the team has a ready replacement for Kyle Arrington.
Josh Boyce: Inactive. Copy and paste.
Jamie Collins: In his second "start" (26 snaps on D) he was underwhelming. Had negative PFF grades across the board. Was a non-factor vs the run and on his 6 pass rush attempts. On coverage, he allowed an 11-yard completion on the only time he was targeted.
Aaron Dobson: 5 targets, 4 catches for 60 yards. In the second half, McDainels got his head out from his posterior and started throwing to Dobson in the last 2 quarters. A solid day. Might have gotten away with a push off. He's got to watch that.
Duron Harmon: Outside of a garbage INT, didn't make the stat sheet while only seeing 18 snaps with the defense.
Logan Ryan: Had the best game of his career. Unfortunately, it was due to 2 sacks on infrequent CB blitzes. Still, I'd like to be proven wrong. That's only going to happen if/when he stops moving the chains on his coverages. Will get more PT if Arrington's groin injury keeps him out of action.
Josh Boyce: Inactive. Copy and paste.
Jamie Collins: 2 defensive snaps, no stats. Looks like he's dropped behind Dane Fletcher on the WLB depth chart.
Aaron Dobson: 9 targets, 5 catches for 130 yards. Had 2 TDs including an 81 yard catch. Still, he has another 2 drops.
Duron Harmon: 39 snaps on D. Another garbage INT. 2 tackles.
Logan Ryan: Thrown at 4 times, 3 completions for only 16 yards and a TD. So far, PFF CB rankings: Marcus Cooper 4th, Ryan, 60th. BB drafted 4 Rutgers defenders in the 2013 draft, and passed up Cooper. Go figure.
Josh Boyce: Inactive. Copy and paste.
Jamie Collins: 2 defensive snaps, no stats. Shawn Crable?
Aaron Dobson: 7 targets, 4 catches for only 38 yards. At least he had no drops.
Duron Harmon: 3 targets, 2 completions for 15 yards, had a stop in the run game, this was his best game of the year.
Logan Ryan: Thrown at 2 times, 1 completion for a TD, 1 PD
Josh Boyce: 2 snaps on offense no stats, no targets. Having 4 inactive spots taken by injured players allowed Boyce to dress.
Jamie Collins: Had his best game of the season. Graded better than average in coverage and pass rush (1 sack) and even had a run stop. In coverage: 4 targets (17 coverage snaps) 3 completions for 26 yards and a game-saving PD. Fletcher was better, so Collins will likely get a lesser share of the D-snaps.
Aaron Dobson: Zero targets, zero. He did a decent job run blocking, but he must have had trouble getting open on his 23 pass snaps.
Duron Harmon: Started all 90 snaps on D. Didn't do much. Did have a run stop, but had some problems in coverage: 5 targets 4 completions (including a TD allowed). Was in on 42 coverage snaps.
Logan Ryan: Targeted 5 times and only allowed 1 completion, had an INT, and a PD. He was in coverage 36 times. Fluke? If he can play like this with some degree of consistency, I'll have to stop comparing him to Ellis Hobbs. Best game of his young career.
Josh Boyce: Inactive. There's a surprise. Has he been muffing kickoffs in practice or something? It doesn't seem logical to risk McCourty on KO rets.
Jamie Collins: "Started" at WLB: 14 snaps; 1 QB Hit; 1 tackle, one stop, was in coverage for 8 snaps and wasn't thrown at, which is a positive. Still, you'd like to see what he can do with a full workload.
Aaron Dobson: Inactive (foot). That explains last week.
Duron Harmon: Split snaps with Steve Gregory. Didn't do well. Had negative PFF game grades vs run and pass. Missed 3 tackles, which is a big no-no for a safety. Was targeted 3 times in coverage, all for completions for 47 yards (37 after the catch). Worst game by far.
Logan Ryan: Was above average in coverage. Targeted 4 times; 2 completions; 1 TD. Had an INT of a poorly thrown ball. Not bad for 31 coverage snaps.
Josh Boyce: HE'S ALIVE!!! 14 snaps and only 1 target (a catch of 6 yards). Had 6 KO rets for 149 (24.8/per) with a long of 41. At this point KO rets will be his only contribution to the 2013 team. He bobbled one KO, which fed my suspicions that BB doesn't trust this guy based on his practices. Otherwise, it makes no sense to have McCourty return KOs.
Jamie Collins: Started. Did well against the run (3 run stops). had a Pass Breakup. Had problems in coverage, however. Targeted 6 times, 4 Recs, one TD, 119.4 Passer Rating. Jordan Cameron is one of the most underrated TEs and gave Jamie a rough time.
Aaron Dobson: Inactive (foot).
Duron Harmon: With Gregory back in the lineup, Duron was in for 16 snaps and didn't make the stat sheet.
Logan Ryan: A sub par day from Logan. Wasn't a factor in the run game. Got lucky when he was badly beaten by Little on the right sideline. Campbell pulled a "Brady" - overthrew Little by a mile. Could have been worse.
Josh Boyce: Made his first NFL start. Multiple injuries can open opportunities. Had 5 targets and 3 catches. On one target D'Qwell Jackson to got in front of him for INT. That was Brady's fault. Boyce had a drop. He beat his man downfield on the Pats final offensive play, that drew a bogus PI. There wouldn't have been any controversy had Brady not overthrown the ball. At least Boyce finally showed something.
