I have a problem with BB addressing Welker but not backing up his players when Scott threatened his players. How do you let threats, (ok'd by Ryan) get by and then punish a player for a quip.BB 's is more in danger of loseing his players respect with his attitude.

Re: Benching Welker Reason Patriots Lost

He sure played a lot for a guy who got "benched."....It's the gameplan, people, not the emotion, not the on any given day a team can beat another team, not the Pats got emotionally flat because the idiot supposed leader of the WR corps had to play footsie with Rex Ryan and Bellichick felt necessary to sit him out first offensive series. Welker hasn't exactly been playing well. He dropped more balls in the past several games than last few seasons combined. He's obviously not the fast guy of a few years ago too because they don't throw that quick out to him where he then would run 8 yards after the catch. Look, the layoff hurt the team, it hurt Brady, it hurt others. It makes you wonder what is the point of winning a division. Just make sure you get in the playoffs. Prefer to start on the road anyway.

The Jets got to play an emotional win over Colts, then got to spend a week pot-shotting the Pats who were basically chomping at the bit to get to game time. The momentum was the Jets from the opening kickoff, but the Pats still could have won, still could have competed better, still could have turned an 8-minute non-scoring drive into a 3-minute FG drive with a sense of urgency, down by 10 points. And yes, it almost appeared that the bookies either had dirt or debts up against Bellichick and/or his OC. They coached one of the worst games of their lives. Unacceptable.

The Pats aren't deliberate unless they are ahead and consciously eating the clock. They did the Jets dirty work by playing exactly how the Jets wanted them too--slow, time-consuming, no points.

Welker was benched for ONE offensive series and it had absolutly no bearing on the outcome of the game................Pats choked on a Di@k for the 3rd consecutive playoff game.

besides, the real reason to bench him may have been to protect him. it was not communicated thatw ay, but who knows?

In Response to Benching Welker Reason Patriots Lost : Yup, it had nothing to do with that terrible fake punt or the poor playcalling where Woodhead was expected to pound the rock or the poor offensive line play or the fact that we don't have a player who can win his one-on-one matchup and get to the opposing QB And I'm sure Welker's ill-advised comments did nothing to pump the Jets up that much more, especially becuase the Jets players don't really like Rex Ryan Your Pats posts are as insightful as your Celtics posts.  I suggest you find a new hobby.

Did you know that Welker stated after the game that the Pats were not prepared? did you know that Welker was upset by not playing against Miami?Did you know that Branch and Welker had one catch between them mid way through the 3rd quarter.

Welker didn't play against Miami because Belichek wanted to keep his stats down so Welker will receive less in arbitration on his next contract, same with Branch. So benching Welker cost the Pats the game against the Jets. Read what the Mazz wrote today in the Globe.

    Take care Run

What happened with Welker had no bearing on how the JETS played pass coverage, which was clearly the key to the game.  Frankly Welker had no business acting like a fan, a fan like you.  Fans run their mouths,  Players should shut up and play.  Your post is pure ephemera.

Here is why the Pats lost:
BB choice to humiliate the Jets and run up the score on national TV came back to bite him. The Jets were beyond furious with what he did and HATE the Pats because of it. (Yes...it was the Jets job to stop them yap, yap, yap) If he had any class, he would have taken out his starters. It wasn't the first time he ran up the score on an opponent, it was just the first time any team did something about it.

Please stop with the "classy Pats" vs "Classless Jets".

If a team has to get blown out before playing up to their potential, they're not much of a team.
