    Re: Benny watch week 7.

I thought he ran a bit better last night.  Still, a season average of 3.4 ypc isn't stellar.  Most of the good running teams have "lead" backs who average more than 4 ypc.  Ridley is averaging 4.4 and Bolden 5.4.  That's more what you're looking for if you're going to rely heavily on the running game.  I like Benny a lot--he seems like a hardworking, lunch-pail kind of guy. But he doesn't have ideal quickness, nor is he a true power back.  I don't want to rag on him, but his performance does show why those resident BDC "experts" who constantly attacked BB and Bill O'Brien for not running Benny enough are not making millions as NFL offensive coordinators right now.

Steven Ridley week 7 ---- 17 carries, 65 yards, 3.8 a carry, no TDs, no fumbles.

Hmmm, the more things change, the more they stay the same.....

Also of note, when they have played the tough run defenses:

    18 for 71, 3.9 yac vs. Arizona

    13 for 37, 2.8 yac vs. Balt

    16 for 34, 2.1 yac vs. Seatle

    17 for 65, 3.8 yac vs. Jets

Week 7 is as relevant as 1-6, not at all. When does the Maroney watch begin?

Babe you should watch Oregon St. or Wisconsin. in the NFL 3.8 ypc isn't bad.

Babe is a fantasy football GM. Yardage stats are all he cares about.

He had something like 50 yards before I went to bed at the half...he only ended up with 69 yards?!?!

Its looking more and more like Benny is NOT headed to the Hall of Fame like Rusty and true champ thought.

Benny is a decent backup, nothing more. Just like we said all along.

    Yup.

"Babe continues his vindictive attacks like an angry exwife."

First off while the "Benny Watch" thread is nothing worth spending time on it's hardly the kind of brutal name calling Rusty routinely indulged in, including ruthless mockery of Babe's age. Babe did some name calling too but has shown a willigness to reign it in for a better forum, something Rusty has always refused to do.

That said the run versus pass thing has always been too polarized in this forum. We do need to be able to run better in the four minute offense, one way or the other.

Who cares...? The Patriots former average running back is continuing to be average elsewhere...
