    BJGE - 1000 yards?

627 now with 5 games left. Looks like we may have a 1000 yard rusher. Let's hope so. He just seems to get better the more he carries the ball.

Laura has 36 rushes for 74 yards BTW.

Wow I didn't even notice that. And just think if Woodhead played an entire season with us he'd be close to 1000 all purpose yrds too.

As for Maroney it makes me burst out laughing that we essentially traded Maroney for Branch. What a trade

I think it happens pretty easily.  Unless O'Brien decides to change that.  He's the ideal runner because he's falling forward on every run.

Even the 3 yard runs are effective.

I believe if Woodhead and BJGE are healthy for the entire next season, we could well have dual 1000 yard rushers. Watching them both yesterday, I started to see BB's genius even more. He never drafts a back high. These are 2 undrafted players who are a force. Think about it, sure there are great RB's in college who get thousands of yards and then get drafted in the first round. But, they also come with high mileage. I think BB sees guys who have the physical attributes, smarts and desire with less mileage as a better deal. One wonders how this makes next years draft even better by not having to address the RB issue with such urgency. We can now focus on defense and some good OL. BB has been very slowly letting BJGE get his chance. I wanted it 2 years ago but, who knows if he would have been as good a back if he started to get 20 carries a game then? The important thing now is that he's healthy, strong and is not beat up. He is running with authority now and man, every freakin' week he is better. Woodhead is the perfect compliment to him. DW falls forward on every carry as well. Deceptively powerful, I always see him get the extra yard. Such a joy for me to watch after agonizing over Laura!

If Fred Taylor gets healthy for the playoffs, look out. He knows this is the end for him. That's dangerous and makes for a nice weapon in our arsenal. Like to see Fred go out in glory.

No doubt. It has to be one of more embarrassing front office moves in recent NFL memory.

A player you need, you cut and he ends up on the team you have been chasing for 15 years. lol

If he does reach that milestone - it'd be pretty kewl cuz it's still RBBC - even if it's mostly law firm and woody.

He should pony up some $$ for his OL and TE corp at the end of the year....lol

agreed law firm and woody are a great tandem - i still would like for us to use one of our first 6 picks on a Chris Johnson or MJD type back !!

Imagine a killer OLB with our first pick and a bruising back with our second pick :-)

    Mmmm. Doubtful.

NE uses their players in a "scheme" or "game plan" which changes week to week.

Certain games favor a blend of pass/rush. Others favor mostly passing.

BJGE is a good role player, and that is precisely what he is doing...

Not sure BJGE will get 1,000 but I do know that I like the way he runs and his overall toughness.  He gets tough yards, rarely is thrown for a loss and seems to love contact.  I agree, he and Woody make a really solid combo backfield.

I agree Law Firm and Woodhead are a nice tandem but I also agree the Patriots need a bigger Rb to compliment them. I am not going to say who they should draft I have my preference but I will to defer to the Patriots Brain trust. I did want a OLB/DE Pass rush specialist with that pick they took McCourty with (I also said immediately they had a Solid CB)

Harley, glad you have come around to appreciating the Law Firm.  He's won more than a couple of cases so far, hasn't he?  I think 1,000 yards is a reach this year, as BB will start giving Fred the Toe some touches soon to get him in game shape for playoffs.  Glad Pats signed Woody for two more years.

    Re: BJGE - 1000 yards?

BJGE is a nice player, but he makes a better back-up than starter.  The Patriots need to seriously consider finding a bigger downhill runner as their prime RB next year.  A big bruising back will open up the passing game more than the TE's down the seam.
BJGE would be perfect as the back-up bowling ball.  Woody takes on the Faulk role obviously.

I think the Patriots will be limited come playoff time with this tandem.  You make them one dimensional, the receiving core is average.  Tom would have to be Dan Marino to gain victories.  Dan didnt win many playoff games with his arm.  Tom is better as Joe Montana.  Joe had weapons to get his 4 rings.  Just saying.

    Re: BJGE - 1000 yards?

I always liked the way BJGE ran from when I saw him as a rookie. He was the opposite of Maroney. He reminded me a little of Marion Barber. I was afraid he was going to get cut this year after preseason. He had one run in preseason when he was denied at the goal line, I think it was the Saints game. The guy gives 100% on every run, he never dances, and most of all he never fumbles. BB loves guys that don't put the ball on the ground. I don't think we need to draft a RB in the first 3 rounds, or at all. We should be able to fill that need thru free agency.

It will be tough with the Jets still to come and schemes changing from week to week, BUT I would love to see him get it. He's a great example of someone who has worked his tail off and shown improvement from week to week.

Not flashy, but decisive and always falling forward, that's the key.

    Re: BJGE - 1000 yards?

Even more interesting is the disappearance of Sammy Morris.

I see the BJGE critics claim that his success is thanks to the OLine, but honestly nobody else can move the chains running other than him and Woodhead.

My concern - If BJGE gets injured, the Pats are in a world of hurt. Brady, McCourty, Chung, BJGE, and Wilfork are the 5 most important position players on the Pats now. A deep playoff run is unlikely if any of those guys down.

As far as next season, lets not already be penciling in BJGE for 1000 yards. The Pats OLine has a couple of key players who are in the later half of their careers. I dont know how much longer Koppen and Neal can be clearing lanes with Mankins. BTW, I do think Koppen and Neal both deserve to be in the Pats HOF.

    Re: BJGE - 1000 yards?

I would love to see Benny get 1000, but it wont happen. Freddy is coming back and he will get some carries, plus we still have the Bears and the Jets left ranked 2 and 3 in defense against the run.

It will be hard for Benny to put up great numbers in these 2 games, so he had better make it up against the Bills (last) and Miami (20th) if hes going to break 1000.

Either way, you gotta love the difference this year with princess Lauren Morony gone and with Benny and Woody showing the first real production since Corey Dillon left. Too bad Kevin is gone for the year. Even though we are 5th overall in 3rd down conversions, I love seeing the dink and dump to the old dude...
