He saw something, the shadow of a 350 lb lineman bearing down on him.  If he kept running, got crushed and injured, we'd see a lot of posts here as to WHY Brady tried to run.

    Father Time - still undefeated.

Football is a young man's game. Not very kind to QB's in their mid-to-late 30's.

Barring injury, Brady still has 2-3 strong years in front of him.  News flash: he won't evolve into a scrambler during that time.

I don't know which play you're refering to but his biggest screw up was at the end of the half. He never should have tried to run. There was no way he was going to make either the end zone or the sideline. He should have thrown the ball away as soon as he got out of the pocket. It was 1st down with little time on the clock. We had more downs than time so the smart thing to do was to give up the down and save the time on the clock. It was an idiotic move on his part.

TB is the same runner in 2013 that he was in 2001, 2003, and 2004 when the Pats won SBs.  He is not going to run out of the pocket for a first down.  He would not have made it btw.  Watch the replay and you'll see he was about to get crushed short of the marker.

True, a younger guy with speed might have picked up the first down.  Say someone like RG3.  How's he doing?
