Brandon Spikes at it again! Leaving Santa Claus cocaine and whiskey!

I love Brandon Spikes but these immature tweets are part of the reason he will NOT be resigned when his contract is up.

I doubt Belichick and Mr. Kraft will find it humorous as I'm sure he meant it to be,but probably won't cost him his postion here in New England.I wouldn't be surprised if Bill had a chat with him about the "Patriot Way" though.

When will professional athletes learn that tweeting is trouble. When you hear about a players tweeting, there's usually something negative involved.

Would this be the same Brandon Spikes who made an "interesting video" when in college that appeared on the web?

Dumb thing to write, the guy should of learned his lesson after the last one he did a month and a half ago.

I don't know if Spikes has a future in NE but I highly doubt his future has anything to do with a harmless joke.

Just a little bit of harmless fun. i dont think BB cares much what Brandon does off the field as long as hes not getting in trouble with the law.

Sounds like something Gronk might say. It should blow over.

Once again, someone in the media starved for a story.....Nothing but a non-issue.

I'm not so sure about that.I thnk BB and Mr. Kraft had a problem with Gronk posing with Bibi Jones wearing nothing but his jersey. But that may have been because the Patriots jersey was used as a prop.

The Patriots are expected to act a certain way in the public eye. Both Mr. Kraft and Belichick want their players to be held to a higher standard when they're heard from or seen in public.I'm guessing Spikes tweeting that Santa Claus drinking whiskey and doing lines of coke probably aren't part of the image they want a Pats player to project.

I could be wrong though.I don't have a problem with it personally, although IMO,it's not smartest thing to do.

    I think it's a non-story but an ill-advised decision by Spikes.

However, does anybody think he was referring to Coke in the sense of soda, not cocaine? Why else would he include whiskey? Jack-and-Coke, anyone? I don't know. Either way it was a boneheaded decision of Spikes to take to Twitter for an attempt at an amusing comment. He left it up for interpretation.

Spikes is the Gronkowski of the defense. Look at all the stupid things Gronk did in the past two years, Gronk got paid, why would Spikes be any different?

Gronk = Took a picture with a pornstar, said he wanted to take Tebow's virginity, Belichick had to tell him to stop fooling around when he was drafted, posed nude for a magazine...

Who says BB cares what players do in their personal lives? As long as it isn't detrimental to the Patriots, BB will let it slide.

I agree that players are just being plain dumb to even bother with any type of public messaging like Twitter or FB. I mean don't they have better things to do? Hell, if I had the $$ that these guys do, the computer is the last place you'd find me.

Yes, it was a joke....and yes, I still think it's a non-issue. The media will take any little tid-bit they can get for a story that creates drama.....let's face it, America loves drama.

Sure Kraft of BB might have a few words for Spikes, but I highly doubt his tenure here is in any kind of jeopordy.

Kraft would look like a hypocrite for judging players for what they do in their personal lives since he was acting like a plump fool with a girl old enough to be his granddaughter...on camera. -_-

No. He said "rail" of coke. It's cocaine.  No need to spin it. Personally, I think it's much ado about nothing, but in general, I am not a fan of any Pats players Tweeting about anything really.

This is what happens. I can see why people think it's a big deal, but I also don't buy into politically correct crap either.

It's a joke and meant to be taken as one. People who get paid money from an employer in general just need to be careful, though, no doubt. Anything that can be seen as damaging a brand is taken very seriously.

Wasn't meaning to spin it, I'm just not familiar with drug terminology.

Then, no doubt, dumb decision by Spikes.  He's in love with Twitter and tweets every 10 seconds.  He'a knucklehead but I'll take him on my team any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I agree with you that it was a harmless joke.  However, I don't have a problem with players having facebooks/twitters.  As long as they're getting it done in practice, film room, and on game days, I couldn't care less what they do in their spare time.

Hell, I got a twitter primarily to 'follow' Pats, Bruins, Sox, and Celtics players to see what they're like off the field/ice/court.  Most of these guys are regular joes but some have polarizing personalities that give them a bad rap.

My take on it: who gives a damn?

Re: Brandon Spikes at it again! Leaving Santa Claus cocaine and whiskey!

I'd be surprised if the Pats does not address it. They may address it in private, but I'd be surprised if the NFL or the Patriots does not do anything about it, just to send a message to other players in the league.

This is not just about playing well on the field. Pro football is a business. Spikes is an employee, and is high profile enough that his twitter persona is his NFL persona. What he joked about (assuming that is all it is) is something that the NFL does not want to be associated with the brand.

Let's just hope it was all a joke and that he's clean. I have to wonder how stupid he would have to be to do that if he was not on anything. That tweet could mean he'll get tested for drugs.

I guess we will find out in the next few days.

He's definitley a free spirit, but all I care about is how he plays and how professional he is.  I don't think this is that big of a deal like you do.  I think Twitter in general (and Facebook) is lame, but apparently I am in the minority anyway.

A joke like that sounds like something anyone would say in passing as a joke, so I don't see the big deal, and I am not offended.

If, as you say, you care about "how professional he is" don't these asinine comments put that in question?

BB had enough of his personal issues brought out front.  He hates it. That's why he benched Welker when he made foot jokes.  imho talking about personal is off limits.  I'm glad for BB's heart he doesn't read these boards.
