For those who thought Taylor Price was going to start ahead of Tate. Guess what, Tate will be a playmaker and big time weapon opposite Moss. This kid is great with his hands on the ball after the Catch. Hopefully Price can add some depth. Let someone else return Kicks, I don't want to take a chance with Tate getting Injured. This Passing attack will be feared throughout the League. I have been waiting for Tate since he got drafted.Much more Talented than his former Teamate Hakeem Nicks now with the Giants

    Re: Brandon Tate

I agree with Clay, the TE's looked great, all three of the them especially Hernandez but I was surprised that even crumpler can move pretty quick. Hernandez has a nasty spin move and looks like he can break tackles. Gronk took a hard hit for a practice in the endzone and looks like a really tough guy to tackle. One thing that frustrated the hell out of me was how Ben Watson looked so big and strong but would never break tackles by CB's 40 lbs lighter. Gronk will knock those guys out.

Tate made a really good diving catch in the endzone that would have been out of bounds in a real game but it was still probably one of the more exciting plays of the night.

Price had a tough night catching the ball though.

One thing that I noticed is it seems already seems as though Brady has developed a better rapport with all the newer guys than he ever did with chad jackson or galloway.

I didn't notice Cunningham at all for anything either good or bad.

    Re: Brandon Tate

No doubt that tate can stretch the field and with his size, speed and moves is a threat every time he touches the ball. Please don't underestimate Price he been a standout in practices as well(at least the four i've seen.He runs terrific routes, has very good speed, explosion of the line and he is one tough kid.Barring injury, these two should provide the Pats with with young wide outs who each provides a definite challenge to opposing teams.Mccourty,I believe, has the makings of a true shut-down corner and I'd watch Cunningham real close as he has shown the physical skills and work ethic(he has terrific motor and you can almost feel he desire to learn and excel)the make the position change from D.E. to OLB.Is he there yet, absolutely not,but you can see that he is improving practice to practice and I feel he will help this year and ultimately be outstanding.G.Warren probably won't give you a whole lot of pass rush pressure at RDE but I'll bet he will be very good against the run(maybe freeing up the aforementioned Cunningham and the safeties to dog more).

Tate had a round one grade going into his senior year and he scored 7 touch downs before blowing up his knee...

if he did not smoke mary j before the combine he still would have been a bubble first round pick.

    this kid is a stud

I am not sure the patriots can afford Moss next year so lets get use to the following specialists

    Tate
    Welker
    Edleman
    Price
    Gronk
    Hernandez
    Brady

We need a RB, Morris, Taylor, Faulk, Maroney are all in there last year. Faulks new deal was only one year.

    next years draft

    1A) OLB
    1B) RB
    2A) OLB
    2B) RB
    3) DE
    4 to 7) Depth

Nice. How did Cunningham look on the edge? I heard he looked ok setting the edge/containing and look natural peeling back into coverage. Yeah, sounds like the WRs and TEs are realy progressing. These preseason games cannot come soon enough. I want to see how they look when pressed at the line, etc.  That will show us if these guys can shake loose on the patterns.

Cunningham looked pretty good.  He is a big strong kid.  Bigger than I expected and has a quick 1st step.

Brandon is the entire package.  This kid will be a play maker.  He has it all and so young also.  He could be a star.

Thanks. I still feel the Gerard Warren run stuffing angle with some decent length and experience can help at DE. And if somehow Cunningham can progress through preseason, then this area not only may not be bad or as poor as last year, but it will be better as the season goes. I read on another board that Cunningham looks good setting the edge. This is good news.  Obviously, it's not full blown game action, but still it's encouraging. As for Price, this same person who posted a camp review said Hernandez and Price run the best routes, with Price looking very good in this area. Surprised to read that because I saw that as a weakness out of college. It could have been his bad QB at Ohio, though.

Gerard Warren did impress me.  He looked in better shape than the last time I saw him and he is still as strong as an ox.  He pushed some O-Lineman around and still is a force.

Price did not impress me nearly as much as Tate did.  Tate will cause problems for Defenses.  Our entire Offense will cause problems for other teams.

Can we move one disgruntle player for another and really seal the deal on this era with moss in the fold that is...

    For example;

Mankins for Glen Coffee and another 2nd from the 49ers???

I think Coffee is just as good as Shon Green and he is better than baloney.

Fred Taylor and Sammy Morris have to get cut right??? Just becasue they are veterans that does not meen they can have the worst camp of there life and make the team???

He's like what would happen if Deion Branch, Wes Welker and Devin Hester go together and made a baby. He still has growing up to do, but he'll make some noise along the way.

Sounds liek mathcup nightmares for opposing teams, but like I always say, there must be a commitment to spreading the ball..  As happy as I am for Welker, I was actually hoping he would miss the 1st weeks, so atleast Brady is forced to go back to finding other options...I mean its nice the guy has 346 catches in 3 years, but it hasnt gotten us a ring, (not his fault) and if we want him to finish out his contract, I think catching 70 to 80 balls is much better, and getting other guys the ball....I hate when Brady pats the ball looking for one guy...just so Bledsoe-esque..   If Brady can get back to his 2001 spreading the ball nature, with the upgrades now on offense...I mean we won it all with J.Wiggins, T.Brown, D.Patten, A.Smith, theres no excuse not to be able to win with these guys, unless we s uck on defense...I'd like to see 2 or 3 TE formation, 5 wide, all of it...just dont run the same ish all day...

Couldn't agree more, I love Welker but I worry that he will hurt the development of some of these guys. I love Brady too, but since Welker has been here he has developed some tunnel vision and needs to get back to spreading it around more.

I feel the same way, but reports from camp say that Brandon Tate has been Brady's go to WR and Moss and Brady are linking up with minimal effort. It looks like Brady trusts Tate. The problem last year was that Brady and Galloway couldn't get it together and Brady just couldn't trust the other guys.

I think trust plays a major role when it comes to Tom Brady finding his receivers. When Brady had Givens, Branch, Patten and Brown on the team he trusted each and every one of them that's why he had no problem spreading the ball around. Let's hope he learns to trust Gronk and Hernandez before Welker is cleared for 100% participation because when Welker comes back he'll get the ball.

You got it backwards.  Gronk, Hernandez and everyone else have to earn Tom Brady's trust.

Add to all of the above with better (more creative, less predictable) play calling, power formations to help the short yardage type run situations, and a RB corp that can actually stay healthy the whole year......and the Pats have potential to be scary good on offense.

    Now, about the defense....................lol.

I think brady has more weapons this year with Tate and the TE's earning his trust. Add to the fact Welker is coming off injury, the Pats 'should' spread the ball around more.

I do not see Welker having another 100 catch season with the new additions on this club.

Hopefully with all these weapons O'Brien can scheme better than 2009!

The reliability and quality of the receivers will allow our running game to do just fine.  These TEs will improve our running game as well.  I love these three TEs and Crumpler is still a stud and he moves well and catches the ball well also.  This Offense will move the chains.  I am real excited to see them in the red zone.   We are back in the saddle again!

My only question is who returns the punts and kicks ? I really don't want Welker back there, so I might throw Tate or Price or Edelman or Faulk into the mix (if I'm BB) during pre-season to see who can handle the return duties.

thanks Laz, I knew we could count on you for an interesting update. both football and specifically non f/b related. Gets me through the day.

Regarding the Oakland 1st rd pick, I hope this pick is not too high, way too much $$$ these days, of course I'm sure BB will trade down a bit as typical.  Somewhere between 1st round 9-13 would be good.
