Call of the Draft by Mb! Randall Cobb

My boy MB had nothing but good things to say about this kid.  He mentioned him a lot and wanted the Pats the draft him. Now I wish we did too.  Looks to be another great addition, like G.B. needed another WR.  He made in instant impact and looks fast and shifty.

I hope we can get similar production in the return game, but not sure who we have there now.  Edleman?  Price(dont want to see him get hurt there)  We need to establish a good return team. It kept N.O. in the game too on punts w/Darren Sproeles.  Price looks good there too, but he is fragile.

Who are our return specialists this year.  Anyone want to guess?

I think Vareen could have some success there too.  I dont think he'll be the 3rd down back out the gate and they will want to use his quickness in some aspect and get him on the field somehow

I also like Edleman as a returner, although Price looked more explosive, I wouldnt want him getting hurt there..

Cobb was a great pick by GB, and would have looked nice in a Pats uniform. I'd like to see how he develops as a WR, but is KR skills are top notch.

I think we'll be okay on KR/PR. As Russ said, Edelman is a good PR, and you can probably plug in a number of guys to KR (Slater, Vereen, Price, etc.)

If you liked what you saw from Randall Cobb last night then you should really get onboard the Ryan Broyles bandwagon.  I've been singing his praises since last year hoping he'd enter the 2011 draft and become a Patriot.  Reminds me a lot of Deion Branch in his first go around with the Pats only he's a more explosive and dynamic version.

MB is better at drafting than BB and the latter should hire the former.  What say you boys and girls???? BB would not be shooting so many blanks in draft if he did - like Butler, Merri, Cunningham, Maroney, Brace, Sanders.  We need a star deep threat in draft next year for Tom, a center, a young pass rushing DE, and a good Safety - like Ray-Ray Amstrong of the U!!!!

Ha, thanks brothah.  Posted this on another thread, but it was kind of bitter sweet watching on Thursday night; I was happy to see him get off to a good start, but was hoping that good start would have come in Foxboro.  I have high expectations for Vereen as well (was high on him pre-draft) and it will be interesting to track their careers as he was the offensive skill position player they chose to take with Cobb left on the board.  I just hope Cobb wasn't yet another player NE left on the board for GB to capitalize on (see: Jennings, Greg & Matthews, Clay).

On a side note, Kerrigan is also off to a solid start with 5 tackles, 1 PD with resulted in him intercepting the pass and returning it for a TD and 1 QB hit.

I got high hopes for Vareen too.  He is putting in work in Madden 12...lol

Has good speed, quicks, vision and holds on to the ball.

Kind of early to be stating the call of the draft, but he did look pretty good.

Plenty of players have huge games in the first few weeks and disappear into obscurity.

Welker/Branch/Ocho/Gronk/Hern/Edelman/Slater...how many pass catchers can we really carry? Add Slater to that mix who is just as dynamic on the other side of the returns.

I'm happy to see what we get out of Dowling/Vereen in the second round. And no way would I rather Cobb than Solder.

Again, Im not making a case for the Pats to draft him.  I do not second guess pics and Rb was a bigger need than WR.

I simply stated that so far MB, made a good call cuz he was all over the board talking him up...thats all.  Why does it have to be a slight to the Pats whenever I give another player props?

I am happy w/Vareen, just pointing out he was a good pick

Haha I thought the same thing, Jay. I play on All-Madden but have never been that great of a runner. In my season, Benny went down in the 5th game and in Vareen's first 3 games: 600 rushing yards, 4 TD's to go along with 200 receiving yards and a touchdown. I don't know how he's that good in this game considering he has a rating of 69.  But regardless, when he gets healthy, i have high hopes for him in a Pats uni.

Well, you win the award for the stupidest thread of the week.
    Congratulations!!

Yeah!! Your Boy MB called it.

The Guy has a good game in his first game and you've got him in Canton.

What a Joke. Do you ever post anything intelligent?

Nice Gayyy Avatar too! It fits your personality.

Please show me your list of threads that you've authored.  I have never heard of you.  My avatar is meant to be funny, but how original you are "Patsarenumber1"  sais it all, what are you 17 years old?

I was giving props to someone and it was not directed towards you or anyone else.  I never said anything about Canton or where his career was headed.  Thanks for showing how attentative you are.  Please continue to post at that pedestrian level so we can refrain from having to read your ultra intelligent posts which probably consist of the same thing...calling people names because your not smart enough to join in and comment about sports.  You s uck at life....LMAO!

Cobb nearly single-handedly derailed Auburn's perfect season last year. I knew he would translate well in the NFL. Even the subpar SEC teams can produce great players. I remember BJGE giving Auburn fits when he was at Ole Miss.

I like Edelman is a punt returner. He's good. For kick offs, not that it matters much with the new rule, I have absolutely no idea who BB is going to use. I am thinking Vereen, but that seems like an odd choice based on his rookie camp so far.

Did anybody besides me notice the inordinate number of guys taking the ball out from deep, deep in their endzones yesterday (often with diastrous results)?

I've got to believe this is a behavior that is probably going to be discouraged as the season progresses.

I said a lot of folks gonna lose jobs w/ that method.  Sometimes it works but when you only get to the 10 yard  line (Cromratie) then you are better off getting it at the 20.  I feel the more explosive returners are still gonna do work(Ginn) guys w/blazing speed, and having a good return team helps as well.

Not as bad as I once thought in preseason, but its still down about 15 percent.

Basically unless we get it at the 5 or so...noone will return any kicks here, they will be scared to get axed by Billy B...  no more Ellis Hobbs here...lol

This may sound bad.  And I don't mean to disrespect MB because I think he knows more about prospects than probably anyone else.  But, I've read the draft threads and there are usually like 50 guys who are proclaimed the next big thing by every person on there.

I just mean, I could grab Kipers top 50, choose every other guy and hit 10 times a year.  I would like to see someone pick just 1 name per round like the GM's get and hit like 3 times.  That would be impressive.

Sheni, this is true...I normally wouldnt even post for something like that, and I seem to be catching shyt over it, but it really was sort of just poknig fun, cuz  all I ever heard from MB was talk about Cobbs, so I figured I'd make a thread..I didnt mean to hoist him up as some draft expert, but he does know his shyt.

For the record(gulp) I actually wanted Jeremy Kerley to be here if we were to get that type of slot/returner type, and so far, Kerley looks ok too, but not as good as Cobbs and  I hope not as Kerley is a Jet now...uuggghh!

Nope. Well, no to the disastrous results, yes to the seeing them run it out.

I did see the 3 TDs (compared to one on opening weekend last year).

    And a 78 yarder.

    And a couple 50+.

Don't let the facts stand in the way, people hate Goodell and the new rule, even if it leads to MORE KR TDs this year.
