I'd rather have Everson Griffin on the Pats roster right now than an extra 2nd round pick in 2011.

Sorry, but I haven't seen any major embarassments by Carolina's first team in preseason.  Right now I have them as drafting 21st next April, as a 9 and 7 team.

Almost any 2nd round pick for a third round pick is still a robbery.  For comparison, I have Oakland drafting at #2 as a casino heist.  Even with Sam Bradford at QB I wouldn't give St. Louis as more than 4 from the bottom but it's still more than Oakland has shown.

I like that we got a first round pick for Seymour, dont like the fact that we are going to go two years without replacing him.  It hurt not having him last year, and with Ty Warren out all this year, its going to hurt even more.

The Raiders lost their starting tailback this weekend.  Broken thumb.  He was reportedly head and shoulders above the other backs.

2nd round, pats have Carolina's and their own.  The Pats have Oaklands 1st round pick.
In Response to Re: Carolina's 2nd round pick is looking good! : Not necessarily here. I did, though. Why rent a 16 million dollar a year player when you are nowhere near a SB run and he rejected your long term offer??? Teams lowballed Carolina and then never adjusted his value to the market. Foolish. Absolutely foolish. Two 2nd rounders is still better than nothing for a guy like that. Anything is better than nothing if you are rebuilding. I also thought the Cutler trade was one of the worst trades ever by any GM since Ditka and Ricky Williams. Horrendous move by Jerry Angelo. I could not figure out why the media was riding Cutler's jock. I still can't. These are poor decisions that cripple organizations.  Just because you don't follow the NFL and understand money management and economics, does not mean I or anyone else couldn't hvae predicted that kind of a poor decision and what it means for a team like Carolina, the Bears or a team like Jets who are screwed after 2010.
    Posted by russgriswold
I agree totally on the Cutler Deal. The media kept saying how Cutler was a FRANCHISE QB. Answer me this what Franchise QB loses 3 games with 3 to go, to lose a playoff spot." NO-ONE" Cutler is the next coming of Jeff George. An arrogant POS who has accomplished less than nothing in the NFL. "But he has a stornger arm than Elway" just ask him". Most Overated player in the NFL. The Bears looked like fools in that trade
Jets and Cowboys fans have been complaining about their team's offenses.  The Dolphins, Chiefs, and Giants have certainly looked rusty at times. None of them can match the marathon of futility the Panthers offense has embarked upon this month. Scott Fowler of the  Charlotte Observer  points out that the Panthers offense has started 42 offensive possessions during the preseason.  They've  yet to score a touchdown . DeAngelo Williams  was running on Saturday night behind the first team offensive line, and he only put up 13 yards on nine carries.   Matt Moore  hasn't looked awful, but he's missed a few key throws.  The personnel around him looks overmatched. Sure,  Jonathan Stewart  and  Steve Smith  haven't been out there.  But that points out Carolina's weakness: Their skill position depth ranks among the worst in football. The Panthers threaten to have a very good defense this year and could make a surprise run to the playoffs.  They will probably need to score some offensive touchdowns to do that.

Germany...unless the Carolina offense dramatically picks up the pace, they're in deep trouble...with good offensive teams like the Saints and Falcons in their division.

Here's an article on the Panthers' surprising effective defense: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2010/08/29/1653564/panthers-defense-a-preseason-smash.html

Yeah, we should have 4 nice draft picks next year. Lets hope next year is the year we finally draft a stud OLB, retool with a new and young RB, and add some depth at DL and OL.

Anyone care to through some names up for 2011 draft? Interested to see what OLB's "fit" the BB mold...

Yeah Russ, I like Allen Bailey. He is a monster. Looks a little heavy to play OLB at 287+lbs, and a tad small to play DE in our 3-4. He would be a wicked 4-3 DE. Heck, convert him to play ILB next to Spikes and move Mayo outside. just joking of course.

The guy we need to take with the Raiders pick in round 1 is Cameron Heyward. He has the right size/speed/strength combo to play 3-4 DE. I think he can hold another 10-15 lbs on his frame as well and still be fast. thoughts on him?...could be long gone by the time we draft with the Raiders pick, but I'm guessing he'll be around and that we jump on him.

The Carolina pick I'm taking a RT due to Light walking after this year. Move Vollmer to LT.

Btw...with the Carolina pick in round 2, I pray we draft Gabe Carimi out of Wisconsin. We will have the largest tackles in the league. Carimi is a monster at 6'8", 320lbs. He and Vollmer would create the perfect bookends. There are also several other outstanding RT/LT's in round 2. I think we walk away with a good tackle with Carolina's pick in round 2.

If they decide not to sign Moss, then there gonna have to look at drafting a WR in the first round.  I don't think what we have on the roster now, any of those would be considered a #1 reciever (if Moss leaves).

Welker is better than any #1 receiver we had in our 3 superbowls.. Guy leads the league in receptions in the last 3 years and the fan base thinks they cant win without Moss..

Moss takes 2 guys with him on most plays, he opens up the underneath stuff, you know, the stuff that Welker THRIVES in. I'm not saying we can't win without Randy Moss but without him this offense would drop off.

As for the Carolina Pick looking really good right now, I agree and I hope they pick in the top 10-16 that way we have 4 really valuable picks this coming year.

I believe that this is the year BB will draft a stud OLB that we have lacked for so many years. I also see him grabbing up O and D lineman with the first 4 picks. Maybe we get a good RB early but I'm praying we don't spend a first round pick on a RB unless a RB is the best player available. I rather have BB get a stud OLB and DE or OT.
