Cassel is a far better prospect than Sanchez!

USC QB Mark Sanchez is expected to be one of the top QB prospect in this year's draft. Carson Palmer and Matt Lienhart were previous high draft choices out of USC and I see no reason for Sanchez to play any better than these guys. Matt Cassel has already proven himself at the NFL level, smart teams should look to trade their high draft choices in favor of a young Matt Cassel.

Your assumption is a nobrainer. Cassell has had the luxury of playing behind arguably the greatest qb of all time plus arguably the greatest coach of all time. Not to mention the fact he excelled this season in his only opportunity.

Cassel is a far better prospect than Sanchez!

You can't really compare the two. Cassel has years of NFL experience when you think of it. He may have only started in 2008, but has been in the NFL for a few years. He hasn't been knocked around like a lot of 2-3 year college starters either. What you have with Cassel, is a man who has been surrounded by offensive juggernauts for about 6 years, but has taken no pounding, while becoming a proffessional. Belichek knew exactly what he was doing, giving Cassel the ball through the pre-season. It is no wonder that this years experience allowed him the opportunity of a lifetime to expose everything he has learned over that time. Now he will get fat paychecks the rest of his days in the NFL.

Sanchez will likely bust out because he is an underdeveloped talent that needed at least another year at USC. Whatever team drafts him will certainly end up starting him way too early.

Considering what high 1st rd picks are getting in terms of contract dollars these days, teams would be stupid to take a chance on paying so much for an unproven rookie. Matt Cassel already has the goods and would earn his pay. Just look at the Cardinals, veteran Kurt Warner that was only there as a mentor and backup, but he is the starter and the QB that got them to the superbowl. Not the overpaid Lienhart.

Cassel is a far better prospect than Sanchez!

Pete Carroll is probably right when he says Sanchez isn't ready, but it seems smart for him to come out this year in a relatively weak qb draft as opposed to next year, when McCoy, Bradford and Tebow will be coming out. There is absolutely no comparison between Cassel and Sanchez. Sanchez is a complete shot in the dark and I would be shocked

    SHOCKED!

if any team, and that includes the retarded Lions, took this guy anywhere near the first round.

Cassel is a far better prospect than Sanchez!

    PM,

It reminds me of last year when people kept talking about Brohm like he was a top-ten prospect.

That talk will die down and Sanchez willl tumble down into the second or third.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Stafford go in the topend of the first.

But if the Lions really want a QB they should trade their second pick for Cassel and use the first to get the best tackle in the draft.

Cassel is a far better prospect than Sanchez!

Sanchez has the same issue with him that people have been using on Cassel. Inexperience, just one season of playing at their current level. The difference, Cassel played better and against superior competition. You know that Cassel can play in the NFL but don't know about Sanchez. On the other hand, the compensation for signing Cassel is a lot more than Sanchez. The pick is likely the same. The money though will be a lot more for Cassel and assured to him if he's on the roster. So if Cassel flakes out, the cost for him will be a lot more for him and his contract that will not likely be incentive laden as opposed to a rookie contract that is always performance based..

I do agree that Cassel is better than Sanchez, however, in weak a QB class, Sanchez could go in the 2nd round. ZB and I agree that the Lions should take the best tackle with the 1st overall.

would not be at all surprised if the Jets take him in the first round---if some other qb hungry team hasn't already snagged him

Cassel is a far better prospect than Sanchez!

Cassel is better than Sanchez, who no matter where he goes is going to experience the growing pains of being an NFL rookie quarterback. Cassel is already through that stage and would be a great fit on alot of teams. Also, with Bradford going back to school it's only going to make Cassel's stock rise. Hopefully, we can get some good solid picks for him on draft day.
